D’arcy McGee’s Irish Pub

I went here yesterday with a couple of my friends to have dinner before we did a paint nite here. My friend and I ordered apps to share and I had signed up for their e-​mail newsletter so one app was free. The blarney chips are a favourite of mine — I mean waffle fries with cheese sauce, tomatoes, green onions, sour cream and salsa topped with jalapenos = amazing. The Bacon and Shrimp donuts, although I was a tad skeptical, were to die for! So good! The shepherd pie yorkies were good also, not as good as when they used to have roast beef yorkies but still good.
My friend had chicken pot pie with mashed potatoes and the pot pie was good but the mashed weren’t that great.
We ordered dessert and decided to all split the brownie and the pie fries. I would definitely get the brownie with ice cream again as they were really good — although the brownies weren’t hot they were delicious. The pie fries were just alright, I could definitely have done without those.
For a drink I got the Devil’s lemonade and it was really good! I honestly didn’t read the description too closely but it was super tasty and refreshing.
I would go again for sure. Service was a little slow at times but friendly so can’t complain there.

Outstanding food. Came to Ottawa and was staying at the holiday inn express and the person at the front deck recommend it. And it was well worth it. I had the lamb pie and was really happy after the meal. The ambience is also really good — modern but also rustic. Definitely recommend this place!

One of Orleans most under rated places to eat. I have had 10 items off the menu and have never been disappointed. Mind you I also pee at night to feel some warmth on my legs on them cold wintery nights. What do I know?

What a great spot for a drink and a meal! Went tonight with a party of six and really enjoyed our meals. The service was prompt and attentive and the free appetizer with the Unilocal check-​in was honoured without a problem. I had the battered shrimp which was very tasty. Three people at our table ordered this and we all liked it. Another had the fish and chips and seemed to enjoy it. There were no complaints about the food. There was live music which started at 9 pm. The band was great and we agreed we’d head back to D’Arcy McGees in January for another night out.

Boyfriend and I headed here on Valentines night, about 9.30pm, after a movie on Innes.
When you go in there is a section to the right. This is where the bar is with a whole bunch of tables and the «stage» area.
To the left when you go in there is also a ton of tables and chairs to sit but for the life of me i have no idea why people would sit in that part. It has the feeling of a bar or a restaurant when they have closed and put the lights up because they want you to leave. Or it feels like a Dennys or something Not the kinda place I’d want to sit and have a few beers. No atmosphere and just weeeeird. Anyways we have been to this location a handful of times and would always sit in the bar area. If there were no seats in the bar area to the right we would either leave or wait. I would not sit in the area to the left.
This particular night was pretty jammed with all tables taken apart from a little nook area to the side of the bar to the left of the stage. We wouldn’t have chosen to sit here if other tables available but was absolutely fine being what was left.
There was a band on. i think they were called The Beer Nuts. no judgement! They were slightly older gentlemen and we found that this kind of determined the crowd for the night. We are early 30s and i would say the rest of the crowd was maybe late 40s. But dont get me wrong they were doing more jiving than we were! The band was ok i guess, the singer was pretty decent but i only knew a song or two while the rest of the crowd seemed to be singing along into their beers. One thing i would mention though is that the base level was just too much. Im no musician but when you are struggling to hear the singer or the instruments because the base is vibrating through your body, i think something is off. We were trying to steal bits of conversation in between songs as it was just deafening at some points.
I had two Shocktops and my boyfriend had a guinness, which he said was pretty decent considering the guinness you get in some bars here is awful. Then he had a Coors Banquet, he really likes Banquet and we have not found many bars that do it on draft so were super happy when we asked what they had on draft for our second round. Id have had a banquet also if i wasn’t trying to get my 5-​a-​day with my Shocktop (they put a slice of orange in it ok!!)
We didn’t have any food and have never eaten at Darcy’s so can’t comment on this but menu wise it’s standard pub stuff and sounds ok. not the cheapest from what I can remember seeing on the menu though. Service was ok. Nothing to comment on really. She checked back on us to see if we needed more drinks but we weren’t offered drinks menu or anything.
They do have some deals on such as two fisted fridays but we missed that time wise. And I think their live music is every Friday night. Different bands each week I think, hopefully ones where the main feature isn’t the base!
They have TVs here so if you’re wanting I catch a bit of the game of the night (as we did) you can.
All in a good time had here… The band gave the place a good atmosphere and the beer was good. Have been here before and will be back again no doubt (but not on the left side thats for sure!)

Great staff, service and amazing food! My go to for Lunches in Orleans. On Nights ask for Jeff Roberts at the bar and say Greg Campbell sent you.

This is the first time we come to this restaurant. After we placed our orders, I proceeded to check in here in Unilocal on my phone. An offer popped up for a free appetizer with a minimum purchase of $ 10 showed up on screen. We showed it to the server who was not aware of this offer. She checked with the bartender/​manager who insisted that they needed a print out of the coupon/​offer in order for them to honor it. To me, this completely defeats the purpose of checking in on a cellphone and redeeming the offer by clicking on the «use it now» button. I’ve used these Unilocal offers 3 or 4 times before at other places and never had an issue with it until now. In the end, the manager called the owner who also wasn’t aware of this offer but was willing to honor it… This an issue that the owner needs to resolve with Unilocal.
Aside from this strange encounter, the food was decent (we had a kid’s meal with Irish Chips — the chips were pretty amazing, and 2 bacon and clam linguine — the sauce was creamy and flavorful). The server was pleasant and attentive. I could tell that she really tried hard to provide good service.

I do enjoy this location.
Its nothing fancy but the live music and beer selection is nice.
The menu is not very large and has a lot of repetition of the same items in a different flavour. There is however a few good things on the menu mostly in the appetizer section. The Blarney Chips, which are basically nachos with wafer potatoes instead of tortillas, are a must. Other items to try on the menu are the Irish Chips & Dips, the Beet Salad and the Fish and Chips.
If you enjoy the pub feel with live music and an okay selection of beer this place is for you.

I really enjoyed my meal here! I had a flat bread with sausages and mushroom and the sweet potato fries and it was very good. They gave me chipotle mayo to eat with my fries which made it even better.
The best part though was the dessert. They have red velvet donuts served with hot white chocolate to dip in. The donuts are freshly made and they were just… the best thing ever!
The staff were friendly and sitting on the patio was were relaxing and enjoyable.
Definitely would come back here.

Now that our kids are older they will suddenly tell my wife and I, «You need to go on a Date». Now whether this is because they notice that we need some alone time, or they just want us our of their hair, I don’t know.
On these nights when we have only a couple of hours to find something to do, more often than not, dinner is at D’Arcy’s.
They have a very nice bar (not as many different beers as I’d like, but still good) and the staff is very friendly and attentive. But I do find the food very good.
The first couple of times to D’Arcy’s I’d stuck to the burger or the steak sandwich, which are very good but nothing you can’t get at another pub. But it is dishes like the Guinness Steak and Mushroom Crock, the Lamb Shank and the Shepherds Pie that keep us coming back.
I was so surprised at how good the crock was. «This is a chain», I said to myself. «One that also owns East Side Mario’s, how can the food be that good, it must all be pre-​packaged».
After talking to some of the wait-​staff, we found out that each D’Arcy’s has its own executive chef, who makes the food as per a recipe, but is left up to change it as they like, with few pre-​packaged sauces and food. That’s why the Guinness Steak and Mushroom Crock tastes so good… Its actually cooked and not just reheated.
We still really like this place, even the kids ask to go here.

Well well well. What can I say about this place?
In the mood for some live music and some beers on a weekend and are in the Orleans area? Well I definitely recommend coming to this casual Irish pub for a beer and some music.
I myself don’t particularly enjoy the food at this place. I guess you could say the food is BLAH. I’m not the biggest fan of Irish food though, so that might just be my biased opinion. Try it if you wish.
Top notch service for a pub though, they’re always so attentive, and always ask you if you’d like another drink when you’re finishing up with the one in your hands. It’s nice to not have to wait a million years like some places just to get some service! A breath of fresh air indeed.
The menu and beer prices are pretty standard for a pub, and they have some pretty good specials as well. Might even stop by tonight for some good tunes and a refreshing ale.
