Ohhhh I could do some serious damage in this store… in fact, I already have! Sail should steal Steve’s Music’s slogan… «If we don’t have it, you don’t need it.» The store itself is massive and the customer service is second to none. I’ve bought quite a bit of hiking gear here and now consider it my ‘go-to’ place for anything outdoors. I wish that there was one closer to me(or maybe I don’t!) but it’s definitely worth the drive to Oshawa. They’re a tad pricey but if you sign up on their mailing list, you’ll be notified of when they have sales. Overall, I’ve been really impressed with every experience I’ve had in this store. They know their stuff!

I’m hit and miss with this store. I don’t fish or hunt, thus cannot comment on those related products, but otherwise the selection is good, with some high-end winter and camping gear. However, I find the prices to be higher than average for most things unless you buy during one of Sail’s sales. Staff will go out of their way to help or avoid you. It’s the luck of the draw how you’ll be served and how long or little wait you’ll have.

WOW! If you like bass pro you will like this! I have always drove to vaughn to all of my fishing and hunting supplies, until my girlfriend and I were driving in Oshawa and randomly saw this store. The staff are very friendly and authentic, always seem to know what they are talking about! Overall I will be back, especially if I go cottaging or camping east of Toronto!

SAIL is a Quebec-based outdoor chain that has been aggressively expanding into Ontario, I’ve seen several new locations. It’s huge, nicely set up, and full of friendly and helpful staff. They offer camping gear, canoes, kayaks, footwear, firearms, all that sort of thing. In general as a member of MEC, I tend to buy most stuff through them, but SAIL offers things MEC doens’t sell as well, and does have the advantage of being more or less on my doorstep. Prices are good and the service is good — they’re going to be quite a challenge to some of the smaller outfitters around. In a way that’s kind of sad, but it’s also good to have some renewal.
