So what I’m reviewing is the customer service, not inventory. The inventory is mediocre. Today, I was in line behind 4 other people. And despite there being 2 people at the cashes, only one was taking customers. The other woman stood there, doing nothing. There was some kind of promotion happening, where if you bring back your receipt, and spend more than 15 $, you get 5 $ off your next purchase… or «something» like that… All I wanted to do was buy one thing, and get out. This cashier was explaining the promotion, in a very demeaning manner to an elderly customer. Saying she wanted to make sure she heard what she was saying, because she«didn’t want to have to repeat herself multiple times». The elderly woman was quite coherent and understood everything with no problem whatsoever. You could see she was putt off by the treatment she was receiving. The cashier then looked at the people in the row, and asked people to «listen up, so(she) isn’t have to keep saying it.» Guess what lady? You’re a customer service representative, that’s part of your job. I’ve done customer service jobs too. After a long wait in line, because the cashier was having cross conversations with the woman at the other cash, who wasn’t doing anything but standing there, she started to explain the promotion again, to the woman in front of me. I happened to NOT be staring directly at the cashier, I had a million other things on my mind, so, like the way you treat a small, intolerant child, she waved her hands in front of me and said quite brashly, «Are you listening to me?!» Stunned, offended and disheartened, I said I don’t shop here often, I just wanted to pay for my item and leave. She grunted, got the customer ahead of me through, then when I stepped up, she stated in a very brash tone, «if you had just said you were in a hurry, the other woman would have taken you.» I asked her how I was supposed to possibly know this, as she was helping NOONEELSEINLINE. She grunted one again, rang me through, said, «I guess you don’t even want your receipt then.» I said no thank you, and left. Yes, that’s why I go to stores to spend my hard earned money, to be treated like an ill behaved toddler by the so called«service staff.» I won’t be going back to this one again. I go so rarely because it usually takes me ages to get through any cashes, and now I’m being spoken down to, and the lady at the other cash, who was doing nothing, I learned from overhearing the cashier say, she was a shift manager, and she did NOTHING about the very obvious ill manner behaviour of her staff member. No thank you. Better luck to the rest of you.

first, let me say that bulk barn is one of the greatest places ever to be invented. need some oregano for that recipe but don’t want to spend 5.00 on a bag when you only need a teaspoon? go to bulk barn. decorating a cake? go to bulk barn. looking for some snacks? bulk barn! this location is great and always very clean. every time I’ve been in there, there has been someone sweeping or cleaning. the cashiers are always friendly and the bins are always stocked!

yup. I’m reviewing another bulk barn. see the first bulk barn I visited while in Ottawa didn’t have blue whales(i still gave them five stars) This bulk barn had blue whales. A big barn like tub of blue whales. I bought them. I ate them. I enjoyed them. I may or may not have bought more candy goodness…
