This is a fantastic place for brunch, lunch or dinner! With an ever evolving menu there is always something new and exciting to try plus our favourites(like the BLT) stick around so you know there is a tried, tested and try delicious option. A great place to check out if you want a healthy, allergy friendly night out that doesn’t skimp on taste or kill your bank account!

It’s hard to explain to someone with out so many dietary restrictions and allergies to meat, dairy and gluten what it is like to be able to walk into a restaurant and have(almost) anything you want off the menu. The waiter was awesome, very knowledgeable about the menu options and seemed genuinely interested in us(it was a celebratory dinner), but he also manage to give the same level of attention to all the patrons. Water glasses were always full, plates were cleared quickly and the restaurant itself was impeccably clean. The atmosphere was nice, not too bright but still casual. We had a laugh over the music selection with the staff. It was some cheesy hits of the eighties and nineties station but instead of being annoying, it was a fun throwback. I recommend checking out this place if you are plant-based, vegan or vegetarian or if you are just curious about just how flavourful a plant based diet can be.

Can’t beat this place for quality of vegan food. They get it very right. Been here several times for lunch, never been disappointed. Surprisingly, I haven’t seen this place too busy. I would definitely recommend going in even if you usually are skeptical of non-busy establishments. I’ve usually ordered burgers, which have been excellent. The side salad and soup have also always been great. The service is very pleasant, and they are pleased to make recommendations. I appreciate the décor and style of the place. Not very cramped, yet they seem to have ample seating. I will be looking forward to return for dinner sometime. Highly recommend.

It really doesn’t get much better than this if you’re looking for impressive gourmet food that is visually stunning and complex. Not the same old fair here for dinner. From whiskey pickles to perfectly textured ‘egg’ yolk on tartare, you will not be disappointed. Wonderfully warm and friendly staff and great timed service of multiple courses.

What a cute little restaurant! Everything is VEGAN too! It’s so hard finding vegan restaurants in Ottawa, so I was really excited about visiting here. The restaurant is decorated very nicely with what looks like vintage pieces. It’s a very laid back casual look. Each table is lit with a tealight candle. We chose to sit inside because most people seemed to be outside in their back private patio. The window seats were very nice. I’d also like to mention that I really enjoyed the music they played. Nice instrumental music. It really gave the place a nice calming vibe. They offered a drink menu along side their regular menu. My friend ordered one of their drinks and said she really liked it, so there’s that. :) From the menu we both ordered the jackfruit tacos($ 19). Which was amazing. My god. I thought that the jackfruit would make it sweet, but it was a completely savory dish. The toppings that it came with were amazing too. It wasn’t the most filling though, but it’s vegan so I guess that’s expected? Their prices are slightly on the higher end and there aren’t that many options on the menu, so I don’t know if it would appeal to people who are picky eaters. Overall really good and I’d go back. :)

Delicious, delicious, delicious… And I’m a carnivore. This restaurant certainly creates some of the most creative dishes I’ve ever seen. Atmosphere is very cool, chilled out, without being pretentious. The 5 course menu is a steal of a deal, would definitely recommend going for that. And the drinks are super creative, with just the best and most unexpected ingredients. If you like food, you’ll love this place.

I have been meaning to try this place out for a while now(became veg about a year ago) and am so happy I finally did. Went on pizza night because, well, pizza rules. My boyfriend is a meat eater, but was super willing to try this place out and said he would definitely come back. He left stuffed, and happy! He ordered the spicy pepperoni and I got this BBQ Cauliflower and Kale pizza. I liked mine more then his, but he was the opposite. We also started with the pickles, which were a few different vegetables pickled. I wasn’t a huge fan, but I was good. We ordered some cute drinks(I got the dark n’ stormy). They’re super delicious, but came in a really small glass for $ 13. Dessert was good, got the mango cheesecake. I am a big fan of this place. A little pricey, but will definitely be back. Also had a super cute vibe and interior. We sat on the patio, at 7pm on a super lovely Sunday evening. Was a very good date! :)

Best vegetarian food I have had since the days of Ubuntu in Napa. Chef’s tasting and wine pairing were fantastic. Excellent service, presentation, and ambiance; go on a nice night and enjoy the back courtyard. Love love love.

My buddy and I ended up here for brunch. We quickly looked at the menu and saw BLT on the menu, looked in they had a patio and the décor was quite inviting, sis in we went. After taking a closer look at the menu, the café is vegan! I consider myself open minded and willing to try new things so we stayed. I orders the BLT that was served on waffles. It had coconut bacon and a whack of other things. The service was good and the restaurant was nice. My food was blah. It seemed to be trying to hard, too many competing flavours that overwhelmed the sandwich. I would go back but try something different next time

My husband and I were so excited when we found a plant-based restaurant. Unfortunately the food that we ordered didn’t meet our expectation. We had hummus with raw rosemary crackers, the soup of the day, fresh garden rolls, and jackfruit meatball tacos. For dessert we had the cheesecake which was cashew based. The dessert was the best part of the dinner as it was really well done. The hummus was huge but average, the fresh garden rolls and the jackfruit meatball tacos were lacking flavour. The atmosphere of the place was great and so was the service. It was a pity that the food didn’t have enough flavour. Otherwise it could be a 4-start place.

My husband and I went here recently for dinner and we loved it. It was a Sunday, so it was their«Pizza Night.» The menu had appetizers and pizzas on it only, no other main dishes. At first I was disappointed because I didn’t want pizza and wanted to try their other stuff that I had heard about. However, after tasting their pizza, all my disappointment disappeared! I had the BBQ Roasted Cauliflower and Kale Pizza($ 15) and my husband had their pizza and Lug Tread special($ 19) — he had the Margherita Pizza. My pizza was delicious! The roasted cauliflower was buttery soft and covered in this sweet BBQ sauce. The kale was crispy and tasted like kale chips. The crust was thin and dusted with cornmeal. Drizzled on top of the pizza was a «cashew ranch sauce» that was rich and creamy. Under all the toppings was a tangy tomato sauce. Everything was so tasty. However, it was difficult to eat because the cauliflower was so big and heavy and the crust was so thin. I ended up eating the cauliflower first then the«kale pizza.» At any rate, I thoroughly enjoyed it. My husband also enjoyed his pizza, which was basically tomato sauce, mozzarella rounds, and fresh basil leaves. We both loved how the pizzas are served on a block of wood. Sort of like a cutting board, but the edges still had bark on it. Really neat! Our server was Lesley who was really nice and pleasant. She brought us water as soon as we sat down and also asked if we had any allergies or dietary restrictions. She then went to the kitchen to confirm which dishes we could or couldn’t have as a result. She also checked up on us appropriately. We were seated near a party of 14 who were really loud. At the end of the night, Lesley apologized for the noise, which I thought was nice, even though it was in no way her fault. I would love to return to try something on their regular menu.

I’m going to make this a short review. The place is quite small and all the menu consists of is a small number of options, all vegan items and mainly appetizers. If you’re in a romantic mood for fancy drinks and a snack in the dark then this is a place to be on a weekend evening. I was not impressed with the menu items at al. The Green bean Gnocchi seemed like the most appealing out of the 2 other options for the main course and I give it 4 stars.

In my head I use the term«second-wave vegan restaurant» to describe places that don’t try to hard-sell you on their green cred. Café My House is exactly this sort of place. It looks like a regular upscale resto until you look at the menu. Vegetarians/vegans visiting Ottawa need to check this place out, either for brunch or dinner. Yes, the prices are a bit on the high side and sure, the menu isn’t very long. The amazing waitstaff and environment will make up for it. Good selection of drinks, too. If they have it, I recommend the espresso cheesecake!

I completely trust Café My House with my palate. My first visit was when they were still on Bank Street. I remember ordering something with onions, which I despise. I was about to pick them off when I thought, «But they look kind of tasty. I’ll take a bite, just to see.» They were freaking delicious in that context! It encouraged me to try the coleslaw(another thing I normally hate) that was on the side. I finished that, too. They’d been at their Wellington Street location for a long time before I was finally able to make my way over. I got my old standby: the tempeh burger. Everything else I’ve had from the menu is good, but that is by far my favorite and the item about which and over which I dream and Homer drool, even when I’m not at all hungry. It seems that the recipe was changed somewhat. It took me a second, but I found myself thinking, «Is this horseradish? I don’t like horseradish… except in this. Yeah, this is good. I should have ordered two.» Just assume that this review is longer and gushing about how much I love the restaurant. I have to end it now because I really, really, really want one of those burgers, but they’re only served for lunch, which ended one hour and eight minutes ago.(I’m not going to cry! There’s always next weekend!)

This restaurant completely blew me away. I made reservations thinking it would be fun to try something different, healthy, and local. We were looking to check out a vegetarian place for Unilocal’s Fit Club, and the fact that Café My House is vegan made it even more of an adventure! I’m no stranger to a vegetarian restaurant, but this place went above and beyond any expectations that I had. All of the vegetarian restaurants I’ve been to in Ottawa have been pay-by-the-weight, and this place was completely different. A cozy spot, but with plenty of seating, the atmosphere is casual but beautiful with stunning local art on the walls, tea lights on every table and an awesome looking bar. They have fun little touches everywhere(my favourite was a little tiny gin dispenser), and it feels romantic and charming all at once, but certainly not like they’re trying to hard. It would be a great spot for a date. Our server, Lesley, is also the manager, and she was flawless. We told her this was our first experience there, and she walked us through the menu and made suggestions. She knew every dish inside and out and was unfailingly pleasant. They serve small plates, and recommend 2 – 3 plates per person. We all ordered a cocktail, and this might replace Trio as my new favourite cocktail place. WOW. You can tell they take a lot of care in creating them, and they were just fantastic. I ordered a Dark and Stormy and it was pure perfection. I could taste so many flavours! Lesley brought us a delicious amuse bouche of toasted chickpeas, and after that small bite and a sip of my cocktail, I knew we were in for a treat. We decided the best thing to do would be to try the Chef’s Choice 5 plate special, which was $ 32 per person. We also ordered the pickle and live cheese plate which was 4 different kinds of nut cheeses(each one was delicious and different), pickled carrots and grapes and crackers with a pickled kimchi. I loved the nut cheese! I could eat it all day every day! The pickled grapes were surprisingly delicious and paired perfectly with the cheese and crackers. Each dish from the chef’s choice was phenomenal. We had the black bean meatballs(Noah’s favourite, which is a lot coming from a huge meat-eater!), sesame crusted oyster mushroom calamari, and crispy portobello mushrooms served on an amazing bed of spiced potatoes. My favourite was the chickpea and heirloom carrot salad. The carrots were such a lovely colour! It was served with this outstanding coconut dill sauce, and guys. I could have licked the bowl for REAL. I would come back just for this dish. We finished with a raspberry beet cheesecake which had an amazing crust. I love that they use sustainable, local produce, and the beets gave it such a pretty colour. I’ve mentioned colour a couple of times here, and it’s for good reason. Every dish is stunning and lovingly plated, AND tastes positively amazing. I can’t wait to come back for lunch. I didn’t miss the meat, and I loved that I didn’t feel stuffed to the point of excess when we left. You should check this place out if you love beautiful and tasty food, vegetarian or not. A total gem in Wellington West.

I loved this place. I’m a huge meat eater. I love my burgers and steak. I was slightly nervous trying a vegan restaurant. I didn’t think I was going to enjoy anything or even make me full but I was pleasantly surprised that this place did opposite. I tried their 5 course meal which comes with 5 dishes from their meal. Ideal for 2 people at $ 32 per person. I absolutely loved the chickpea & heirloom carrot salad with coconut-dill ranch dressing and the Italian black bean balls with primavera sauce & walnut parmesan. The staff was friendly and helpful with their recommendations and I had an amazing experience.

Café My House will be celebrating their 5th anniversary at the end of the month and they’ve really come a long way during that time. At their original location they offered interesting takes on relatively no frills vegan dishes like burritos and burgers with the occasional curveball like their incredible Bibimbap. They’ve since evolved into arguably the most interesting and refined vegan dining experience in Ottawa offering vegan cheese plates, cocktails with ingredients like fennel & cardamom pickle brine and main dishes like sesame crusted oyster mushroom calamari. Their desserts are particularly worthy of mention and will win over even the most stubborn omnivores. If you’re not big on more daring flavors they do still offer a lunch menu with items like waffles and vegan cheeseburgers, BLTs, Reubens, etc. Unquestionably one of the best places to eat in Ottawa.

I was disappointed with Café My House, and I really really wanted to love it. I had the tempeh cheeseburger and it was bland and kind of mushy. I thought the meal was utterly forgettable and yet surprisingly expensive.

Visiting Ottawa and had lunch here yesterday with my family. Evidently they have moved, so I will say that the space is beautiful – spacious, elegantly decorated, comfortable seating, and with a really nice garden patio in the back to sit at if the weather is nice. As for the food: We all enjoyed it, even the carnivores among us(and there were several!) I had the BLT and it was really fantastic. I also had a few bites of someone’s «eggs benedict» and it was tasty but not quite as indulgently flavorful as the BLT. Finally – I had a bit of someone’s gluten-free flax seed waffle with caramel coconut sauce and blueberries and almost wished I had ordered that! We had a few drinks as well(non-alcoholic fruit smoothies) and they were delicious and refreshing. I loved the one with the kale – drinking something that tastes like dessert but whose main ingredient is kale feels like I am getting away with something. I don’t know Ottawa but from what I hear the location(Hintonburg) is a very popular neighborhood so this is a great location. I took a look at their dinner menu and it sounded fantastic, btw. Finally, lots of their food is gluten-free. They served the BLT on the aforementioned flax seed waffle(no gluten) and it was great like that.
