History

Established in 1849.

Built by Frances Grant in the 1840’s, and originally named Grant’s Hotel, The Laff is one of the oldest institutions in Ottawa. The first appearance of the Laff in the history books came during the Stony Monday Riots where a political uproar led to a massive brawl and stoning in the streets. People sought refuge inside the Laff.

Meet the Manager

Deek L.

Manager

Welcome to the Laff!

I’m the Operations Manager, and I’m here to make sure your needs are met. If ever you have a concern or a poor experience, and there’s something I can do to improve your visit, please reach out. We’re constantly making changes and upgrades to better suit our customers.

I’m usually running frantically through the bar, but I will always make time to smile and say hello! I hope to bump into you here one day soon.

Cheers!
