What a lovely place to spend the afternoon! This wilderness area is located just off Conroy and Hunt Club, and although it’s a bit of a trek for us, it’s totally worth it. The scenery here is lovely, and it’s hard to believe you’re still in the city! This is essentially an off leash dog pathway, but I wouldn’t call it a dog park, as there didn’t seem to be a central place for the pups to play like at Bruce Pit(unless it was deserted or we missed it!). Even on a somewhat dreary afternoon we saw tons of pups on our walk. The paths are beautiful and there are tons of them, so you can check out different ones each time you visit. There’s lots of bike trails as well, and we saw a few cyclists while we were there. Unlike Bruce Pit, I also didn’t see any waste bags anywhere, which would possibly have helped with the few land mines we saw. Every dog we encountered was well behaved and friendly, and so were their humans! I loved this place, and would come back with or without a dog in tow to enjoy the beautiful greenery and pathways!

Great place to walk your dog. Tons of trails, open space and hills. The end of the winter is usually when the park is brutal to walk in though — tons of puddles, mud and piles of crap EVERYWHERE!

Great dog park. Huge, many different beautiful and relaxing trails to take. Peak times are the afternoons on weekends — it can get really busy and you’ll end up parking behind a line of cars on the side of Conroy road. Regardless, the experience of enjoying a walk in and around the woods with your canine best friend is well worth it. Of course, no matter what dog park you go to there will always be people who aren’t sensible and have problematic dogs that shouldn’t be there — but the great thing is, you just keep on walking down a different trail, instead of having to leave the whole park. The Pit is a very accepting place — all breeds welcomed, you won’t get avoided or scowled at for bringing your bully breed. So many different breeds that you’ll see every time you go — today I saw a Cane Corso, Newfie, a couple Vizslas and a Chow Chow — not very common breeds around here! Overall, excellent place, well maintained, clean and just a great location. Strongly recommended if you have a social dog that loves to go for a nice run!

Wouldn’t take my dog there for a million $. Its not the dogs, it’s the stupid, ignorant, thoughtless people.

Welcome to doggie Disneyland. Conroy Park is my dogs’ happy place — their most cherished place in the world. Where else can they frolic, sniff, bound, race & chase with other dogs? LEGALLYOFF-LEASH! Easily one of Ottawa’s biggest dog parks, offering copious expanse to run with a wealth of trails to explore. It is an extremely beloved south end location, where dog lovers take their dogs. It is an off-leash park — If your furry friend enjoys chasing other dogs, he/she will be running like mad, the moment the leash comes off. This former sand pit is located on the West side of Conroy Road, South of Hunt Club Road. Fear not of getting lost in the vast forest of timberland trails, but look out for the protruding branches that surround you. On any given day, you will find hundreds of dogs running loose. The park is mostly self policed — be prepared to get the serious stink eye if you don’t pick up after your dog — bring bags. Should you forget, kind thoughtful souls usually leave extra bags near the disposal bins at the main entrance. Keep your dog’s temperament in mind before coming — This is a dog lover’s park, where dogs play to their heart’s content. 3⁄30 — Unilocal Ottawa’s 30 Day Challenge!
