I’ve been here a few times and loved it, especially for breakfast. Wait staff always seemed friendly. Usually pretty busy but never had to wait long.

Brutal service including wait staff that were openly annoyed of having customers. Really 0 out of 5.

This is one of those times I wish I had checked out Unilocal before going into a place as it would have saved us from a bad experience. Walking along Bank Street the other night, a friend and I wanted a quick bite and we ducked in here as it had a lot of people which is usually a good sign. FOOD Okay, maybe it isn’t fair to judge a whole restaurant on their appetizers but as we only ordered nachos and wings, that’s all I can go by. Both plates were uninspired in the least. The nachos were some of the blandest I have ever tasted and the wings(despite a somewhat decent description) were small with very little meat on them. A lot of other people were ordering burgers. Maybe that would have been the way to go as the nachos and wings were definitely a big mistake. SERVICE We can’t say we were impressed with the inattentive/zombie-like service either. One notable element was it taking about 5 – 10 minutes to get the servers attention to refill my drink and then another 5 – 10 minutes for her to actually bring it to me. It wasn’t until it came time to pay the bill that the waitress actually said more than a couple of words to us and tried to make a conversation.(Leading me to think she was just trying to be friendly to increase her tip… which it didn’t). What else can I say, not the best food, not the best service, yet the place was pretty much full. I guess the place has something but for me, if I’m in the Glebe again, I’m going somewhere else.

The corner is a typical bar and grill, their prices are reasonable but their menu is kind of boring in my opinion, they have burgers, wraps, pizza and sometimes breakfast stuff, and that’s it. Went here today with my boyfriend, I decided to try their«latina burger», I asked them if it would be possible to get a French onion soup as a side and just pay the difference. For some reason that wasn’t possible, which is stupid. So i just got the French onion soup. My boyfriend got a buffalo chicken wrap. 20 minutes later the woman brought our food out, my soup looked great, it was presented really nicely and smelled good too. My boyfriends was just a wrap, fries and a little side salad. Mine was hands down the worst French onion soup I’ve ever had, and I have tried many French onion soups. The broth tasted like it was ½ beef broth ½ vinegar, the vinegar taste was overwhelming. Absolutely disgusting, I took two bites litterally, the woman didn’t even speak to us until giving us the bill or I’d complain, I couldn’t even find her. I try really hard not to complain about food too, I’ve done it maybe twice, but this was so gross I was totally ready to. My boyfriend didn’t even finish his and he can eat an insane amount. He let me munch on his since mine was so bad, his fries were the type of fries that taste like they have batter on them(hopefully everyone knows what I mean), his wrap was boring and the salad was some red peppers, iceburg lettuce– it was 100% from the knob part of the lettuce too, and a pickle on top? It also was awful. The décor is also weird, it’s like an Irish pub but there are flat screen tvs. There was absolutely nothing special about this place, I will not be coming back. It also didn’t help the service was terrible.

I’ve never been able to figure out what this place is about. They have decent food but nothing drives me back there. The atmosphere is the strangest thing about it – it’s small, intimate and quiet(in terms of other patrons) but there are several large flat screens often playing sports and their website boasts more about their breakfast than anything else. Is it a sports bar? A quiet and intimate restaurant or a breakfast spot? Perhaps all of those things? There are just so many more options in the Glebe when it comes to pub type food over this place.

My wife and I stumbled across Corner Bar & Grill this summer when we came into town searching for an apartment in the Glebe. We wanted a nice place to sit and peruse the apt. section of the paper and to chat to locals about vacancies. The place is tiny, and has a pubby atmosphere, but doesn’t really try to sell you that erstatz«English/Irish» pub scene that many local bars cover themselves in. The food is typical pub fare(wings, nachos, etc.) and they have the normal selection of beers on tap(Guinness, Keith’s, etc.). The prices are steep($ 6 pints) but it is the Glebe. However, they do try to minimize costs by putting together food and drink combo deals. For instance, I had the pint and pound of wings combo for $ 9.99. And right now, they have a burger and pint deal for $ 12.99 — still, a little pricey for a burger and a beer. That’s the Glebe. Parking is street only, so have some loonies for the meter.

This place is pretty touch and go. I’ve had bad service a couple times, but I’ve also had a number of good servers. The food is standard pub dishes with nothing that really stands out to me. This is more so a good place to go with friends or family for a weekend breakfast while you watch the random sports they always seem to play on their big screens. Actually, that’s what stands out to me: that I’m always watching darts, curling, bowling or dog shows when I come here. I kinda like it.
