This place was awful. I went there with my family and the shrimp wasn’t cleaned very well. There was still fecal matter in the shrimp. The thought of eating here makes my stomach turn. I just noticed today that its closed down for business.

Lots of selections. $ 17.99 for so many selections is such a good deal. Tastes are blend but for this price, no complaint

This is an average Chinese buffet place. In the times I’ve been here it has never been as bad as some commenters have stated below. Was it perfect? No. I believe the restaurant could improve upon a) its prices; b) its customer service; and c) its cleanliness in certain areas only(but not to the extent some here suggest). I will say the price is somewhat high for the quality of food, up there with Mandarin locations definitely without delivering the Mandarin quality food.

I scratch my head every time I see the denial and arrogance of some restaurants, on how bad their service-food-cleanliness, and how much this horrible restaurant hates to hear the truth. This place is bad on all levels, bad service, arrogant owners, don’t get me started on the food, sheesh.. If you want quantity with a total disregard for service, cleanliness and courteous service by all means go there.

This place is pretty gross. On St. Patrick’s day I was at a friend’s house and we were hungry and ordered Chinese and I had some rice and I thought it was really good! I think it was because I was really drunk and really hungry though. So like 2 days later I made the mistake of ordering take out from this place. So gross. I’m sorry I’m just reviewing it now but the memory of the food is still fresh in my mind. So I ordered kung pao chicken(one of my favorite dishes anywhere besides Ottawa apparently.), and a combination plate. The eggrolls were plastic tasting and disgusting, I ended up taking a bite and throwing that out. The rice was ok, that was really the only thing I’d consider edible. The gai ding that came with the combo plate was mushy and flavorless, and the sweet and sour chicken was also pretty bad. The kung pao was AWFUL. I remember picking through the chicken attempting to find a piece that wasn’t just a huge hunk of fat but then just gave up and started eating the vegetables until I realized they were mushy and gross. Just REALLY bad food. The woman at the front counter ignored me for like 10 minutes before I placed my order, wish I just left then.

Theres no way i’ll be back. No variety. Washrooms are disgusting. The fact this place was almost empty confirms I’m not The only person that thinks this. When it was duberrys this place was actually alright and the food selection wasn’t bad. It was way busier then. My rating is no stars but it won’t accept that.

It’s not gourmet Chinese food, but it’s very tasty and there are many dishes to choose from. The buffet and the seating area are huge and the staff is friendly and helpful. For some reason the management has gone totally overboard on little signs(eg «We have the right to refuse to serve you if you are deliberately wasting food»).

After hearing about Du Barry from some friends, a few of us decided to give it a try for lunch. There aren’t too many Chinese buffets around town, especially in Ottawa. Mandarin is a popular choice in the GTA, but since I’m not a fan of it, I was excited to try something new. I was actually a little disappointed. The selection was pretty good, but the quality wasn’t great. They just had your standard Chinese food dishes, including wonton soup, hot and sour soup, mushroom egg soup, egg rolls, spring rolls, chow mein, chop suey, chicken fried rice, beef with broccoli, almond chicken, egg foo young, garlic shrimp, honey garlic spare ribs, and chicken balls, which aren’t really even Chinese. They also had a BBQ grill and a small sushi section, including sashimi — something you don’t usually find at other buffets. Speaking of which, they even had fried frog legs! This is something that I was surprised to find, but other than that, I wasn’t too impressed with the taste of their food. Nothing was freshly made, and it seemed like all of the food was just sitting there under the heat lamps for the entire day, even though it was only lunch time. The food was more authentically Chinese than other buffets I’ve been to, so I definitely appreciate that.

As stated on the Emerald Buffet website, it very well could be «Ottawa’s Largest Chinese Buffet». The buffet area is vast, it helps to do a tour before grabbing your plate! The food here is good, as far as buffets go(I’m not usually a buffet-type person), but it’s Chinese, which makes it extra tasty in my opinion! Lots of sweet and sour dishes, rice, guy ding and all of the other typical Chinese dishes. The buffet is a bargain, but deals on take-out and delivery are also offered. You can also order dinners in the restaurant, if you don’t want to eat from the buffet. There is something here for everyone!
