This location is STILL the new location, so I’m not sure why Unilocal hasn’t updated the name to «Asian Fusion Buffet.» Service and food this evening were average. Nothing special, nothing disappointing. However, their booths are incredibly uncomfortable and need to be renovated! Sitting in the booth my face was almost at my plate on the table and I was easily a foot away!

The salad bar was better than the entrée that were under the heat lamps. At least the food that I expected to be sweet but that was just right.

I went here with my husband recently for their dinner buffet. I’ve been to much better buffets. The shrimp dishes had a very strong«shrimpy» smell, and the shrimp were a little dry. The other dishes were very greasy. They had steamed crab legs, which were bland and flavourless. The food is pretty much like Manchu Wok or other food court equivalent, except with more selection. Oh, they also had sushi, which was actually pretty good for what it is(sushi at a Chinese buffet), much better than sushi at other Chinese buffets. The dessert selection was lacking. The éclair(with custard filling) and cream puff(with whipped cream filling) choux pastry was dry. The ice cream was soft and melted. They also had chocolate cake and carrot cake which I did not try. However, the service was excellent. The wait staff are all older Asian women, and they were very polite and attentive. Water was re-filled several times without asking, they brought me a shell cracker for my crab legs promptly when I asked for it, and they brought us our bill when we were finished dessert without us having to ask. Décor is typical Chinese buffet style. The place is a little hard to find. It is on Bank Street, south of Hunt Club. There is a parking lot which wraps around to a larger parking lot shared with Food Basics and other stores. This would not be my first choice for a buffet dinner, but if you’re in the area and you feel like Canadian-Chinese a la Manchu Wok, you may want to give it a try. My husband liked this place more than I did. He probably would have even it 3 stars, so I guess it depends on your taste. For those who remember the Easy Garden Buffet in Bells Corners(I think it shut down, but I’m not sure), Golden Century is about the same.

For those of you that haven’t been here in awhile, you might recognize this restaurant as Royal Buffet. The location is still the same, with the cute little bridge behind it. Royal Buffet was here for a long, long time — I remember eating here as a small child with my family, especially after Sunday mass. Well it’s now called Golden Century Buffet! They’ve renovated the entire restaurant and menu, and offer takeout as well as the buffet. Eventually, they hope to offer delivery services as well. Though they still have the same phone number, and I believe owned by the same family, if you go to the old Royal Buffet website, it will redirect you to the new Golden Century Buffet website. They now have a much more extensive menu than they used to, offering their most popular Cantonese and Szechuan dishes on their takeout menu, and even some Canadian fare at their buffet, all for very, very inexpensive prices. They still make really great almond cookies, too. They also have quite a large drink menu, with beer, wine, liquor, a whole load of cocktails, and non-alcoholic beverages. If you’ve ever been to Royal Buffet in the past, it’s time to see the new restaurant and try out their new dishes as Golden Century Buffet!
