I stay Hamptons… a lot… It’s my preferred hotel when on the road. Rooms are consistent, free WiFi, and breaky. So what makes a Hampton Inn? The staff. And the staff at this Hampton Inn — from the Desk Staff, the delightful Irish server at breakfast in the morning to the very polite and cheerful maid service on the 5th floor(big kudos from this worldly traveller) — were super friendly, courteous and helpfulness! This is an older Hampton Inn, but I can guarantee that the staff made my week stay seem like days! This is an EXTREMELY convenient hotel — only one exit away from downtown. You basically hop on the 417 then hop off the very next exit. And there is a plethora of downtown parking — I used the convention parking lot which just so happen to be attached to the mall at Rideau Street(AND close to the canal and parliament). Thank you for your gracious hospitality — and next time I’m in Ottawa, I’ll be sure to make this my hotel of choice!

This place gets a 3 because the location is just so awful. The staff is very pleasant and friendly. We checked in early and our rooms were already waiting for us. Even in the halls, all the staff will say hello and smile. My room was beyond huge, with two queen beds, a fridge, microwave and a HUGE bathroom. It was more than enough space. The other minus is that there isn’t any place nearby for anything. We went to the Courtyard next door for drinks because that’s the only thing around. Again, friendly staff and hey, they at least served booze.

I have been to many hotels and this has been one of the best. Friendly staff clean rooms and a great breakfast(included). There isn’t much in the area if you don’t have a car.

This is kind of a tough one. 4 or 3? This is a new Hampton Inn, all bright and shiny. Underground parking in the harsh winters of Ottawa is a very welcome perk at this place. The staff is über friendly and attentive as is the staff at the little restaurant/bar. Comfortable rooms, standard Hampton Inn with no surprises. The down side, though, is that it is within walking distance of exactly nothing, other than the adjoining Courtyard with its same little restaurant/bar. Want to grab some dinner? Hope you have a car. Drinks? Taxi time. The hotel does have a phone that calls the local taxi company and they usually show up within minutes of calling, so that is a plus. If this place were located within walking distance of downtown, it would be 5 stars, no question about it. So, because of cruel geography… it gets 4. But I will be back. For sure.

Since the end of July 2012, I’ve spent over 60 nights in Hilton-family hotels across the US and Canada. This Hampton Inn has the best service I’ve seen so far. Originally, I was scheduled to spend a full month in the Hilton @ Lac Lemay, but they were full for a couple days, so I bumped over here in the interim. After that 3 – 4 night stay, I changed my remaining reservations to the Hampton Inn. EXCELLENT staff — I felt right at home and very well taken care of. One of(the?) manager, Sarah, was particularly helpful in sorting out some confusion I had over laundry. The bar/restaurant staff is very friendly and helpful — food is actually quite good for hotel food. My room was clean on arrival and cleaned promptly every day by the great housekeeping staff. Parking is convenient — although make sure to snag a spot in the underground parking if it’s snowy. Learned a lesson about ice during my stay in Canada. :) As for amenities, the hotel is really pretty close to several late-night restaurants(see my other reviews about Pizza Boyz, Shawarma King. there is also a 24⁄7 Perkins, if you’re into that sort of food) — and really, as long as you plan a bit, it’s easy to get food back to your room. Very, very happy with my time at the Hampton Inn here in Ottawa. I highly recommend this location and will stay here again in the future.

The service in this hotel is amazing. The front desk was extremely accommodating, room was better then similarly priced rooms in the city. The underground covered parking(free!) is a definite bonus during Ottawa winters. It was nice to have a microwave and fridge inside the room. Breakfast was as good as any continental breakfast I’ve had in a similarly priced hotel. Elevators are quite slow, not a problem until checkout time when everyone is trying to use it. We had to wait for about 7 – 9 minutes to get down two stories.

A group of us rented a few hotel rooms here to crash after a wedding reception. The rooms were large and fantastic. The beds were high and huge, and the pillows and sheets were plush and incredibly comfortable. The bathroom was also nice, and there was a TV, table, couch, cupboards, sink, microwave, and mini fridge in each room, all of which are very convenient if you bring food to your room. The main problem we had was with the rest of the hotel amenities. They served breakfast and snacks during a certain time, but there is no restaurant in the hotel, nor are there any vending machines. We asked the front desk attendant what are food options were, since we were getting hungry in the afternoon, and she told us that the closest thing was a Starbucks if we wanted to get a sandwich or something. We left the hotel and started walking before we realized that the Starbucks that she was referring to was probably by the Best Buy, which was which was more walking than we wanted to do in the cold and wind. We wouldn’t have minded if the weather was nice out, but we just found it a bit ridiculous that they had absolutely nothing to eat in the entire hotel in the afternoon.

Regular good old Hampton inn. With free underground parking and a restaurant that serves microwaved food till 11:00pm. Asked for a king bed but was rewarded with 2 full size. I hate hotels that ask you to put down your preference and then promptly ignore it.
