History

Established in 1995.

Little Ray’s Reptile Zoo was started by Little Ray himself over 20 years ago. Starting with educational talks, birthday parties and corporate events in Ottawa. Little Ray began to see the need of responsible and proper education about reptiles and amphibians. By taking in rescued, abandoned, and confiscated animals Little Ray’s home eventually grew too small for the amount of animals he was attempting to help. The zoo opened in 1995 in a small strip mall and eventually took over the entire mall.

This zoo began the mission of showing Ottawa what these ‘scary’ animals are really like. Through the many different shows, exhibitions, fairs, corporate events, birthday parties, and wildlife festivals the zoo can offer and the professionalism and care of his staff the zoo quickly expanded to become the largest reptile rescue in Canada. Little Ray’s Reptile Zoo now has a new zoo in Hamilton, and outreach centres in Nova Scotia and Newfoundland.
