I love Italian desserts and so I was so stoked to hear that Pietro’s Corner opened up not too far from me. Unfortunately, I found the desserts a bit disappointing. I ordered some cannolis($ 2.95 each) and some sfogliatella riccia($ 1.75 each). The man who served me was very nice and friendly, so I was happy with the service. However, I expected the sweets to taste much better than they did. The cannoli riccota cream was very runny and the cannoli shell tasted greasy. The sfogliatella was tiny and the pastry was not as crispy as I like. The taste was OK but I expected more. Honestly, I prefer the cannoli and sfogliatella that Di Rienzo’s(on Beech) has on weekends(they are $ 2.50 each and the cannolis at Di Rienzo’s are about 1.5 times the size of the ones at Pietro’s Corner, while the sfogliatellas at Di Rienzo’s are about 3 – 4 times the size of the ones at Pietro’s Corner). In my opinion they are tastier at Di Rienzo’s and cheaper too, and of course bigger! The good thing about the cannolis at Pietro’s Corner is that they pipe the filling when you buy them, so the filling isn’t sitting in the shell and make it all soggy. I will likely not return for the sweets :(

First time at this new corner market and pasta bar. They have a variety of pre-made dishes that you take home, heat and eat. We opted for the pasta bar. You can pick from a number of pastas(tortellini, fusilli, spaghetti, etc) and sauces. There is also a side area with meat and salad that you can pick from. I had tortellini with roasted red pepper sauce and some salad. The sauce was really good but the pasta was just ok. My wife really liked her pasta and white sauce. Kids liked theirs but didn’t love it. They don’t have a liquor license yet but are applying for one apparently. We liked it but will probably wait until they have their license before going back.
