Rice & Roll Sushi

We just left this tiny place. $ 35 for 4 of us. It is so cheap and the food is very good. Should be $, instead of $$. And definitely 5 stars. Will come back for lunch tomorrow.

I had a late lunch here recently (around 2pm on a weekday). The place is small but has a lot of character and the couple working there are incredibly nice. The food is also fresh and delicious.
I love maki rolls, but cannot eat sesame seeds, so I can never eat those pre-​made packages, I need to have them made especially for me. I told them about my sesame seed issue and they said it was not a problem, they would make me my rolls without them. I got the Combo C ($ 6.99) (3 California rolls, 3 Spicy Salmon rolls and 6 Hosomaki (chef’s choice, I got 3 cucumber and 3 crab stick)) and a bottle of Orangina ($ 2.50).
The maki were delicious. All the ingredients were fresh and the rice was expertly seasoned. The rice to other ingredients ratio was perfect and the rolls were a good size.
I was offered a free bowl of miso soup and it was excellent. It was not too salty which is my most common complaint with miso soup. It didn’t have that much seaweed or tofu chunks in it though. However, miso soup is all about broth so I can’t fault them for that. The takeout menu says that the miso they use is certified organic.
The place is very small, there are 2 round tables of 2, and a counter that seats 4. It’s more a takeout kid of place. The place is also very cozy and decorated with all sorts of Asian knick-​knacks. It has a very warm feeling to it.
The couple working there I’m sure are husband and wife. Their interactions with each other are very cute. When the man went to make my rolls, the woman reminded him «no sesame seeds.» They are very polite and nice. It is too bad that I do not work nor live around this place, because I would like to eat here more often.
I will come back when I am in the area.

Spontaneous drop in resulted in a pleasant surprise. Fresh looking sushi and clientèle of regulars greeted by name. My order the Spicy Rice Noodle soup. Loaded with thin rice noodles, carrot, broccoli, crispy tofu and other hearty ingredients. Spiciness in the above average range. A definite return visit for the Bi Bim Bap Rice bowl.
