The supermarket: This place is has the best selection of Asian foods in Ottawa. The breads are baked daily and the fruits and veggies are very fresh compared to other Asian markets in town. They also have a wide range of Asian drinks, snacks, and sauces that are hard to find elsewhere in town. This also makes their products a bit more expensive. They also have a decent return policy for an Asian store. We once bought some beans in a sealed package that grew mold and the staff were very helpful and gave us our money back. The food court: I’m not a fan of their prepared dim sum. I find it fills you up very fast and is too oily but the rest of their freshly cooked food is soooo delicious and very cheap. Be warned: it is popular and extremely crowded during meal times! You might not find a place to sit down. They added this noodle bar/area about a year ago. There are 6 or 8 different dishes you can get. I wasn’t a fan of noodles before I had this life changing dish of Taiwanese style noodles. They were heavenly and I highly recommend to everyone!

If you want to buy mussels. DON’T GOTO T&T!!! I bought the mussels there, I thought one stop to get everything I needed And got the $ 6 mussels, half of the bag of mussels were dead. God knows how long the mussels were there. The next day, they were all dead.(The shells were all opened) And I also got the squid tentacle. It was wrapped, well packed and its fresh(well I thought it is, with he best before date at least 4more days. Next day I opened it and it’s so smelly and yup it’s also go to the garbage. I was so mad! Next time, I shouldn’t be that lazy. Thinking just one stop get all the stuff I need.

If you agree that ambiance takes a backseat to flavor, this place is for you. You will not be impressed by the décor — it’s a restaurant in an Asian supermarket with no wait service, plastic utensils or chop sticks but the food will dance the Electric Slide all the way down. We had Szechuan noodles with a peanut sauce and cilentro and a glass of house water from the tap. The total bill was under 20 bucks and is one of the best deals in town. The choices are somewhat limited, but they’re prepared fresh.

I am writing this review regarding the sushi section in T&T. I bought a tray of sushi and it only came with two packs of soy sauce. There was probably around 20 – 30 pieces of sushi so obviously 2 packs of soy sauce isn’t enough. I went to the sushi counter and asked one of the lady that made the sushi for one more pack of soy sauce and she pointed to the rest of the pre made sushi boxes from the fridge. I was confused so I asked where again and she replied inside the sushi box meaning I had to buy another tray of sushi to get more soy sauce. That doesn’t even make sense. I asked politely and she replied in such a rude way. This sushi lady needs to learn how to communicate with costumers or she needs to be fired. Other than that I have no problem with T&T supermarket.

I first experienced T & T back in the early 2000’s in Vancouver. It was back then that I was half in awe half in shock of a bag of fresh shrimp jumping around in a bag on the conveyor belt as a guy was paying. I’ve been to T & T’s in Van, Toronto, Edmonton, Calgary and now Ottawa! This location is somewhat interesting as it basically backs onto the runway at Ottawa airport. I was thinking they could just thrown the fresh fish over the fence after the plane lands(however it would probably compromise Ottawa airport security standards)! Selection is your typical T & T. Sushi is plentiful and cheap with a great variety. Bakery has a good selection of all your Asian bakery needs. The Dim Sum area and takeout food area is awesome! So much choice of dumplings, noodles and everything I’d eat here once a week if I was still in Ottawa! All for a reasonable price! I’ve eaten at many T & T’s and I’ve never gotten sick or food poisoning. Maybe my stomach is that of a shark’s or maybe I’m just lucky! T & T has all your other Asian staples and a fresh fish and meat counter. I’m always amazed of the offerings and smells in the fish section. My wife says it stinks I don’t mind the smell of fresh hacked up seafood! I came in for some staples and bought some sushi which was eaten the next day with no health or gastrointestinal issues. I wish like crazy T & T would open up in Montréal. They have a formula that works! *****word of strong caution, this parking lot is a disaster about to happen. I’m half Asian and can contend my relatives and people of my culture can be very bad drivers so beware. It’s so tight for parking I can see many many fender benders happening here!

Ahhhhh Asian market super store in Ottawa, Ontario, Canada. The Wifey and I cruised through here cause she wanted to show me that they had Oriental Markets in Canada, and though its contents make up more than their entire Chinatown, i couldnt hate on the lovely place. The smell of freshly cut fish in the air, and aisles full of asian goodies, snacks, and other misc food items, this is def where you’ll find me when im to cook home-cooked food for the Mrs. Love it. ill be back soon!

I’ve been to this location once and I can’t figure out why it’s revelled as something so special or unique. It’s an Asian grocery store. Upon entry you’re hit with a terribly overwhelming fish smell, one that lingers throughout your experience and demands a quick trip in and out. They had a few neat candies and ethnic desserts, but they were nothing special. I also heard they had an amazing Chinese takeout counter, which actually turns out to be nothing more than a small heated display case with some basic items(certainly not enough for a full meal)… And no take out menu to take away!

This wondrous and massive store ought to extend its locations to Nova Scotia. I love the little Asian bodegas found in the HRM, but the sheer volume and variety of produce, fresh seafood and meats, and ready-to-eat meals(not to mention the cafeteria) blows them all out of the water. The cafeteria offers a number of options, all mouth-watering and fresh. The hot meal I had(2 item combo plus noodles) was delicious and generously proportioned. The produce section is massive, although you’d be wise to dig through items to find the perfect veggie or fruit– many are bruised or overripe. Live lobster, fish, and other sea creatures are on display for your choosing, and no longer live beef, chicken, pork, etc. is laid out neatly. I would caution against purchasing the many common«Western» grocery items at T&T, however; they are uniformly overpriced($ 6 – 7 for a block of butter!). Stick to your regular grocer for everyday products. I will be dropping in for a mango tapioca treat before I head back to the East Coast!

I have only shopped here sporadically in the past but have been numerous times for dim sum and, each and every time, the food is spectacular ! Everything is made on-site, sometimes even in front of you ! The prices are generally reasonable and the service is USUALLY pretty good. However, if you are familiar with Asian stereotypes(or if you’ve ever lived there), service and behaviour can be unpredictable(but often unintentional). The only drawback(if you can call it that) is that, during busy times, the eating area can fill up VERY quickly, meaning you may be forced to share tables.

This place is AMAZING! As you walk in you’re greeted with LOADS of freshly made sushi — and you will find so much more than your standard grocery store california rolls here. They’ve got it all! Stalk up on a dynamite roll(or five!) and make your way over to the dim sum counter where all the dishes are reasonably priced. But warning: Do not take the congee. It is not good. A normal person might think they’ve got enough food to feed themselves for a week by this point, but I urge you to continue. There are amazing frozen dessert treats; do yourself a favour and buy the mochi ice cream. That stuff is divine! Once you’re done there, you will want to see the baked goods — hello kitty cake anyone? and what about a tuna bun for the road? And maybe a pineapple bun, a red bean bun and a bbq pork bun too… Did I mention they have groceries and amazing produce too? Ya, you’ll be there for hours.

This place is so cool! I’d heard a lot about the T&T chain from friends, but when I was in Ottawa over the weekend, I finally got to see what it was all about. It’s extremely well stocked, has more items than you could ever imagine, and despite it being a busy atmosphere, it’s a pretty easy place to navigate. Prices are good, and sometimes it’s even more affordable to pick up a few western items at a good price, too. Produce has lots of exotic items and there is a good selection of premade /dim sum items if you want a quick take-out meal.

What an entertaining supermarket — brought my girls here for the 1st time the other day, i must say they didn’t like the entire cooked duck, beak and all… lol…they did like the entire cooked PIG… including the face! The seafood section is similiar to a pet store, bass, trout, eel, lobster, shellfish… all kinds of goodies… and lots of hard to get meats in from the butcher area The fresh veggies featuring all kinds of items that i wouldn’t even know how they taste… in fact an entertaining blog would be for a white person to cook one dish each week, featuring an unusual fruit or veggie from T&T the last stop is for Pocky… my 6 year olds love it! enjoy. 5 of 30

Good and big super market for Asian ingredients plus it has an area to buy prepared food as well like most of the Asian Supermarkets. This super market is located very close to the Ottawa International Airport, like half hour from downtown. I like to come here for lunch because their Dim Sum dishes are good and fresh; there is other plates too if you want to eat«regular» chinese food. Prices are ok and I could find all the items I expect from an Asian Market. Buy a pound of their BBQ Pork(Char Siu) or Peking Duck… yes, those hanging there and you will not regret.

I have been there twice, live fairly close, but am not compelled to visit very often. I would rather go to Little Asia and buy there as many prices are cheaper and the staff are usually MUCH more friendly. Both times I have gone it has been so crazy crowded that I felt rather uncomfortable and frustrated. My review: meh

Taking the long drive out to the South end of town is well worth it to come to this HUGE… and I mean HUGE Asian food store. If you need something to cook asian food, it’s almost guaranteed they have it. As much as you may want to take a bus out there, I suggest driving, as you’ll probably end up with items you weren’t planning on picking up in the first place. I highly recommend their assortments of chinese buns. They have all sorts of buns from pizza buns, to red-bean filled, to a sweet bun filled with icing. I usually end up buying more than one when I come here. The assortment of food here is phenomenal. I’ve spent over an hour in the store, just looking at all the different things that are here. Not to mention the countless times I spent hunting for the 1 item I wanted, and well… since it took so long to find it(I hate asking where to find items. Its a scavenger hunt to me) I ended up with 10 other things that I found so awesome or looked so yummy that I just HAD to buy. I have to caution you on one thing though — not everything is fresh. I went to find tapioca pearls, and it turns out I almost bought some that were expired and moldy. So definitely watch out for what you buy.(Like a lot of grocery stores however). The prices are definitely reasonable too. I highly recommend making the trip out here sometime! Even if you have to drive far to come here, DOIT!

T&T’s arrival in Ottawa has closed a few businesses on Somerset and when you walk in you’ll know why. The items are a lot fresher than what was found on the Somerset strip and they even have a full fledged bakery, cafeteria(dim sum, roast meats and various take out items) and a whole variety of seafood, groceries, pantry items as well as kitchen utensils etc. It’s like any other commercial supermarket with a focus on Asian kitchens. This place is a nice grocery store but I find it pricier than it’s GTA counterparts and by a noticeable amount. It’s still cheaper and fresher than the Somerset strip though. Unless you have a car this place might be difficult for everyone to get to since it’s on the West Hunt Club and Riverside area.

I generally go here for lunch almost every day as my office is nearby and it’s quick and easy… not anymore… I ordered some shrimp dim sum(looks like clam shells), and a package of dynamite rolls… 5 hours later I was so ill I couldn’t get off the floor, the following 30 hours were the worst I’ve ever experienced. I complained to corporate and they didn’t even acknowledge my complaint let alone reply at all… I will never eat here again, and I don’t recommend you do either unless you like to gamble with your health. I did a bit of research and found that another T&T out west violated 36 health codes, they went to court and actually argued that it was okay to keep food at room temperature since it retains taste better… so I have informed the health inspectors about my ordeal. Something better be done.

I LOVE this place! T&T(or TNT as some people call it) is an incredibly large Asian supermarket — not just a grocery store, a full-fledged supermarket. They have a few in the GTA, and I was so excited to learn that they were expanding to Ottawa — finally! The only problem is that this location is all the way in Hunt Club, maybe because there isn’t any space for it in Chinatown downtown. If you can make it there, though, I would suggest taking a vehicle, rather than taking the bus. Guaranteed, you will buy a lot more than you think! They have such a huge selection that I can’t even begin to tell you what kind of items they sell. They have produce for really cheap, fresh seafood, meats, refrigerated and frozen items, rice, noodles, snacks, non-perishables, teas, sauces, spices, fresh sushi, hot and cold ready-made meals, barbeque, dim sum, bubble tea, and even a bakery with fresh bread, cakes, and other sweets and treats! You can find whatever you’re looking for, and more. What I love the most is that it’s a one-stop shop for all your Asian grocery needs. It has food and products that are Chinese, Vietnamese, Japanese, Korean, Thai, Filipino, and from many other countries around the world, including India and Canada. The prices are completely reasonable, and many things are on sale, especially if you shop according to their flyer specials. If you haven’t checked it out yet, you’re really missing out!
