Toss Salon Inc – An Aveda Concept Salon

I’ve had two problematic experiences with Toss. The first time, I showed up for an appointment (two weeks before my wedding) only to find out that it had been canceled because the stylist was sick. Understandable, but no one called me to alert me and the owner was not particularly nice about it. The second time, I called up to make an appointment for a trim. The woman I spoke to seemed a bit unsure of the price, so I asked her to confirm it — $ 40 for a cut. I had a great experience with Garth, but when I went to pay, they charged me $ 60. I asked why, and it was explained that the person I talked to must have been confused. No apology was offered. The price was not adjusted.

I was stunned today with what happened to me. I had made an appointment for 1 pm and I called the salon at approximately 12:50 to let them know I might be about 5 minutes late because of construction on Colonel By. I probably would have made it on time but I thought I should call as I am always punctual. To my dismay I could not believe the response I received from the person who answered. He told me I should reschedule as I would run in to his next appointment. I was so stunned that I told the gentleman I am almost there and again he strongly encouraged me to reschedule. After driving 40 minutes to this salon, I will definitely not return and nor will my daughters and furthermore may I remind this owner that on my last scheduled appointment I was on time and waiting for him to arrive. I was waiting outside with his stylist and another client, due to unforeseen traffic on Rideau Street, he was delayed. How ironic! Very poor customer service.

Love it at Toss. Love Todd and Amanda. My girlfriend convinced me to go just by arriving to her wedding at the American Ambassador’s residence looking stunning! Her dress was gorgeous but her hair stood out as being amazing. Lucky enough to actually meet Todd in person later at the New Zealand High Comissioner’s residence.
He was so much fun and it continues at his Salon every 3 months.
Look, I’ve been to most of the Salons in Ottawa and will only go to Toss. Prices are very reasonable and quality of color and cuts (very stylish/​on trend) are always superior. Todd has trained most hair stylists in the city — come on! Location is great and nice place to kick back and relax, not pretenious at all (which I hate).

I came here ages ago but totally forgot to write a review. For shame! Anyway, I recommend this place to everyone because I got what I consider to be the best hair cut I’ve ever gotten.
The staff here fit me in right away and I immediately felt welcome. There was just one lady finishing up at the cash and both of the stylists came over to talk to me. I told them about a terrible experience I had at another salon (Saab) and they sympathized with me and promised I would not be charged a ridiculous price like I was there. Off to an awesome start!
My stylist was named Amanda, she was awesome. She took her time and I wasn’t out of the salon in 20 minutes like I was at Saab. I told her I wanted an asymmetrical cut with layers in it, and she did it perfectly. It looked better than I ever expected it to and I was so happy. It was only $ 50 too. For an Aveda salon I can’t complain there.
I was going to give them 4 stars because I was disappointed I didn’t get a head massage at an Aveda Salon, however the perfect hair cut I received negates that. I had a gift card to Holtz Spa I needed used up so I haven’t been back here since this cut but I will be in January. Highly recommended.
