Big suggestion for anyone planning on visiting Yuk Yuks is skip going to a dinner before the show and instead order food there. The food downstairs was delicious and priced fair to other pub style locations. The staff there were awesome, creating a great experience right away. Definitely a good time for something different instead of hitting another club on the weekend. Enjoy :)

Don’t bother coming here. Go to the MUCHBETTER comedy club on Preston street. It’s dark. Grungy. Not welcoming. Uncomfortable chairs. The food sucks: tater tots had so much potential but they tasted like burnt seasoning, and no salt. Would be amazing with Cajun seasoning. The comedians:(went for a comedy competition) and barely laughed. For 1 $ more I could go to a comedy club on Preston. Get great food and cry myself laughing so hard. Don’t bother.

The first time I’ve ever been to Yuk Yuk’s was at this location. We went on a Friday night, which still, surprisingly, had very cheap tickets. The nachos and spinach dip were mediocre — standard pub fare, and standard bar prices for drinks, with the most expensive being cocktails and pitchers of beer. We saw about three comedians that night, all only moderately funny, but entertaining nonetheless. We wanted to try something new and different, so we thought of going here, but sadly, we were a little disappointed. I guess I just had high expectations, but I was hoping for better laughs.

Yuk Yuk’s has two locations in Ottawa. One downtown on Albert and the newest location is on Preston across the street from Ottawa’s better comedy club, Absolute Comedy. By the way, I think it’s pretty crappy and transparent that they moved across the street from Absolute. Yuk Yuk’s has a larger room than Absolute, which can make a less intimate setting, but it can seat 200 people. Ticket prices are almost twice as much as Absolute some nights. Weekend shows cost $ 18, Thursdays cost $ 12 and Wednesdays(Amateur nights) cost $ 6. However, there’s a 2 for 1 deal for students on Thursday nights that’s worth taking advantage of. Regardless of the night you’re going, it’s best to make a reservation. The comedians at Yuks are usually good. There are hits and misses, of course, but that’s to be expected anywhere. Food is available, as well as buffet dinners for private parties before the show.
