Since 1965, we at Montessori Pointe Claire have provided exceptional care and education for children 15 months to 5 years. We proudly offer nursery school, daycare, preschool, and prekindergarten. Our creative summer camp option runs from June through August for all ages and includes a unique senior camper program for 6 to 8 year-​old children.

History

Established in 1965.

Montessori Pointe Claire was founded in 1965 by Eva Stratis, a Montessori teacher from Athens, Greece. The original school was started as a half day preschool and with changing needs of families became a full day Montessori School providing day care facilities. Mrs. Stratis’ progressive philosophy has made the school the unique establishment it is today.

Our present-​day director is Mrs. Artemis Erfle, daughter of Mrs Eva Stratis. Mrs Erfle, who has been part of Montessori Pointe Claire since 1986, is a Montessori certified teacher and has her Masters in Environmental Science. Under the guidance of Mrs. Erfle, Montessori Pointe Claire continues to provide excellence in pre-​school education.

Business Owner

Artemis started as the Assistant Director at Montessori in 1986, and became School Director in the fall of 2000. Artemis is the daughter of Mrs. Stratis and has four children of her own who all attended Montessori. She has her BSc from McGill University and an MSc from Guelph University in Environmental Sciences and taught for five years as an assistant at the University level. Artemis also has her Montessori Teachers Diploma from the North American Progressive Montessori Teacher Training Centre and has considerable experience teaching Montessori at the preschool level. As Director of Montessori Pointe Claire, Artemis works closely with the teaching and support staff and with the Parent Committee to maintain a creative and positive program at Montessori that meets the needs of the children and parents and is ever-​evolving with the times. She is there with a smile to answer questions and help out wherever she is needed. Artemis is also actively involved in promoting sports.
