I totally love this place. The food is awesome and the service fantastic. The server is always so very friendly here. Im so happy there are still drive ins around. The French fries are so very yummy. I recommend anyone that comes to Port Alberni to come here and eat, you will be glad u did

A proper old-school drive-in burger joint. Drive up and they’ll come out to your car to take your order, then bring your food on a tray that attaches to your window; just like in the movies! Burgers aren’t anything special, but they’re pretty decent — perfect for a road trip. Worth it for the novelty!

Where else can you grab a perfect tasting and reasonably price burger, while enjoying the drive in experience. Nowhere. This is a classic joint that’ll never go out of style!

This is such a cool old school drive-in. It looks old and the menu is pretty classic. Darn good burgers too. The poutine is pretty darn good too. My wife is from Montréal, so she knows what good poutine is, and she really liked J&L’s. Just drive up, order, eat, and without having to leave your car. It’s great.

While the service was good, this was the worst burger, onion rings and milkshake of my entire life. MacDonalds and White Spot are five stars compared to this. I am not kidding. The burger was worse than what I imagine I’d find at Costco; the onion rings were from a bag and the milkshake was crystallized like decayed ice cream – if there is such a thing. It was so awful, and I ate it. When asked how it was, we smiled sweetly, «Fine.» But what could we do? We were hungry and we didn’t know that Micky D’s and WS were close by. Waah. Sorry, Port Alberni. Run very far away. Also, it was over double the price of my recent trip to In-N-Out which made it that much worse. I wanted to cry, but instead, I drove to the ferry and vowed never to come back.

what a great burger joint. for the old-school feel of a drive-in fast food restaurant, J & L serves up great fresh food at really great prices. the staff are friendly, unpretentious and really speedy. the menu is your basic fast food fare but it’s all made fresh, the prices are really good and it tastes great. the standouts are the J & L burger, the milkshakes and the greasy fries. the perfect lunch stop on the way to or from tofino… the only question is, J & L or Tseshaht Market for fried chicken?
