Always love this store, friendly service above and beyond, fresh products and excellent options. Lots of free range, grass fed options. Have ordered our Christmas turkey for a number of years and this year it was quite a bit bigger than we requested so I emailed the Manager — not so much to complain as to suggest better communications to avoid other disappointed clients and I received a response the next business day with an offer of a gift card to cover the difference in price. I am a permanent customer now! Well done!

Maybe because I’m so use to the Asian butcher stores, but I was very impressed with the cleanness of Meridian Meats. There were many options and selectuons of meats that were pre marinated. We were originally going g to get wings, but decided last minutes to get the Greek rack of lamb! Will see how dinner goes tonight, but I know where to go for those chicken wings!

Stay away from the fundraiser option. Really disappointed. I ordered this to help my friends kids’s school. I asked the manager in advance what type of salmon was with the slamon pack was told it was spring. Got cheap pink salmon. The pieces also we’re suppose to be 6 ounces minimum but only 2 were. Some were closer to 5 oz. the whole package averaged out at way less than it should have. Prawns were 20 fit 10 plain skewers of 5 no marinas and were smallish and farmed. Yuk. Chicken strips really really expensive. Go to cost so and just donate to the schools

Meridian Meats is okay. I got my Thanksgiving turkey from there and it was a fantastic bird. It was about three times the price of Safeway, but you get what you pay for in this case. Things I don’t like: — Marinated chicken breasts: I tend to roast things as I don’t have a BBQ and they don’t end up with a great texture on the inside or outside after. The taste is usually all right, but it’s not like buying a good chicken breasts. A good price, but not really worth it. — Marinated steaks: Same as the breasts, I didn’t find the texture to be as nice as a good, plain steak after a good pan searing. Things I like: — The frozen items are solid(pardon the pun). — The double-smoked bacon is excellent. The service is top notch and the location is great with the bakery and Kin’s right next door. I don’t think I’ll make an effort to go back for casual dinners that save me a few steps. I’m going to hunt for more meat shops around town that offer a consistent value throughout the store.

Great service always, premium meats and really decent hours(open seven days a week until seven). They have their own house brand Maple Bourbon marinade that notches up the delectableness of anything that bathes in it. Definitely the candy store of meat shops by far!

I’ve decided to put my culinary skills to the test again, after many failed attempts to roasting the perfect turkey. I’ve tried brining and basting turkeys in the past but regardless they still turn out dry. Someone as stubborn as I am refuse to give up until I claim the bragging right to roasting the perfect turkey. Therefore, this year, I am turning to Meridian Meats for help. Meridian Meats is a family owned and operated meat store with locations in Port Coquitlam, White Rock, Maple Ridge, and Langley. They specialize in meats with no medications, no animal by-products, and no added growth hormones. My free range turkey is priced at $ 4.48 per pound. The cost isn’t cheap but you are paying for what you are getting. More on this towards the end. The location where I picked up my bird is Port Coquitlam. The store is very clean with a large selection of meats and Ocean Wise seafood. When you walk in the store, you could hardly smell meats or seafood. The fresh meats include your typical chicken breasts, pork chops, ribs, and roasts. The Seafood section has salmon, halibut, shrimps and the like. The fish doesn’t look too shabby to my surprise, giving that the primary product line of the business is meat. I must say, the fish looks much better than the ones at T & T. The store also has a frozen section(frozen meats and pies) and a dog treat section for your furry friends. Dry rubs and condiments are also available for purchase. Even though I visited the store on a busy Saturday afternoon, I didn’t have to wait too long after taking a number. The staff was friendly and helpful. On the day of roasting I followed the«turkey 101» recipe diligently from Meridian’s website. After 4 hours of roasting with half an hour of resting, my hard work finally paid off. The bird was golden brown on the outside and tender/juicy on the inside including the breast meats! Seriously, you are getting what you paid for. The meat tasted fresh without weird odors unlike the ones you buy from Safeway. Thanks to Meridian turkey, I think I’ve earned the bragging right to roasting a pretty darn good turkey. I’ve yet to try other meats from Meridian but I would definitely recommend their turkeys. I am not sure why the business address is 1475 Prairie Ave but the one I went was 108 — 2020 Oxford Connector Port Coquitlam, BCV3C0A4.

This butcher shop has loads of free range and local choices. What’s not free ranged is usually grain fed or raised without the use of growth hormones. The prices are not much more than the supermarket. If you shop the specials then it can be cheaper. I have tried their salmon, pork, beef, haddock, chicken … all of it was outstanding. I love their Chilliwack bacon. I’m not a huge bacon fan. I always buy it when people come over for brunch or put it in my salads and soups. Soooo thick and tasty! The customer service is super friendly and helpful. They will put your meats/seafood in plastic freezer bags or brown wrap it for you. Whatever you prefer. Just remember to take a number when you come through the door, The red ticket dispenser is right there. For some reason it’s still easy to miss.
