Sushi 990

Had high hopes for this place after seeing some online reviews and photos. Prices were decent, generous servings and unique rolls; however I found the rice was too wet and the rolls had too much rice. I might go back just because it’s in the neighborhood, but there are certainly better sushi places if you go a little further out.

Been here a few times and it’s gradually got worse and worse. Disappointed since it had a 5 star rating.

Went here on a Sunday night and the place was empty! The place is indeed small with basic décor and a simple layout plan. May possibly be Korean owned but everyone is VERY nice and welcoming! The other reviews are consistent with the food being very unique and very FRESH! I highly recommend this place and I’m definitely a returning customer from this day forth!

Best sushi in Port Coquitlam! The salmon sashimi is always fresh and their specials rolls are delicious! A must try!

I’ve eaten here many times as I’m often at the yoga studio in the same complex. The staff here is always friendly and polite greeting you with a smile and a sushi chef holler as you leave. Their roles are always fresh tasting and a good size. Try their unagi don (bbq eel) and their beef teriyaki dish. There was a generous portion of unagi and beef teriyaki for both meals with steamed rice and miso soup included. For the amount of food you get/​size of portions the prices are very reasonable. I’m glad this sushi place is so close to my yoga studio. :)

We stumbled upon Sushi 990 after shopping late one evening. The restaurant is very small. The food is very unique in comparison to other sushi places. With that said it is very refreshing. The staff was very friendly and the food was delicious. I would recommend it and would definitely return myself. Enjoy!

We tried a variety of rolls and they were fine, but didn’t blow us away. Good service and a nice, intimate environment.

Excellent sushi restaurant in Port Coquitlam. Fresh ingredients, great prices, big portions, and a wide variety of items on the menu. Everything was delicious. Will be coming back with friends and coworkers.

Best sushi in poco!!! They have great sushi and good prices. Try the sushi 990 oven roll, or the green salad! I have recommended this place to all my friends and family.

My family and I have been here twice now — all 8 of us adults and 6 kids! Both times they have reserved the entire right side of the restaurant for us.
The occasion today was a surprise get together for my mom’s 70^th birthday! I came early to decorate the section with flowers, balloons and a banner (which they let me put up on the wall). We bought a DQ frozen cake and they so kindly kept it in their freezer for us!
My brother took over ordering (as he frequently comes here) and did a great job… so many delicious rolls that I’ve never had before… Everything was delicious.
My whole family took forever leaving the restaurant which I felt really bad for as they were trying to close… They still kept a positive attitude and were really kind! I will definitely go back next time I’m in PoCo!

This place is absolute wonderful. My family and I have been looking for a sushi place to come to regularly. This was definitely the place we’ve been looking for. The staff there is very comforting and make you feel welcome. The whole kitchen staff scream welcome to you as you walk in. The food there is amazing. The special rolls are brilliant and the sashimi is so fresh.
I always order some nigiri because it would be a terrible mistake to pass on such fresh food if you go.
This place is definitely worth checking out.

A great little place for family!
We discovered this little gem about two months ago next to Orrange Kitchen + Bar, when our family wanted to eat and watch the UFC Fight — Orrange was «too busy» so we needed a «Plan B». The name and signage next door at Sushi 990 did little to encourage us to visit before, as we thought it was just another sushi place in Port Coquitlam.
We were wrong. Don’t judge a book by its yadda yadda!
It’s small inside, probably 4 – 5 groups can dine inside… so you’re sure to get served relatively quickly, as there aren’t a lot of other tables to take up your time. When you walk in, you’ll notice the cute fish tank, «private area» to the right with full bench seating, and 2 – 3 tables on the left. These tables have a bench seat by the window and regular chairs on the other side. The big screen LCD is playing Japanese and Korean Youtube music, and the mood is right. It’s a clean little restaurant and you can notice they do a good amount of take-​out as well.
The service is great. The place is small so you will most likely get the same staff helping you each time. The server is polite, attentive and nice. The kitchen staff bid you fareful in a fun and stereotypical «arigatou gozaimasu!»… you don’t get that experience everywhere you go, so for odd family that comes in to a sushi place for the first time, it’s something you talk about. I don’t think it gets old. It’s fun.
Did I mention the food? Very good. Some very unique dishes — many cooked fusion sushi rolls which are sure to fill you up. They’ve got the usual sushi menu and new things to keep even the pickiest happy. They didn’t have «natto» but I can forgive them for that. They also don’t have Korean kimchi or Japanese curry rice, so they’re really focused on what their name advertises… sushi.
The price for many rolls is what you would expect… some inexpensive, some in the higher end. Their name, «990», is incorporate in their menu, where you’ll notice many dishes that you would expect to code $ 10+ priced at $ 9.90. Their $ 20+ dishes at $ 19.90. You get the idea. Interesting that this price idea is right in their name… but again, who really cares about all that. The place is small, food is good, and you get service with a smile. One thing mention: don’t be surprised if they give you a dish or two free, on the house! Very nice touch.
I’m glad we found this place and have mentioned this place to many friends — some who have become regulars I recently found out. You should definitely give it a try.
