Specialties

We offer hourly, daily, or weekly rentals, of kayaks, canoes and stand up paddleboards. In addition, we offer Paddle Canada certified lesson programs and tours, and many weekly drop-​in social paddles. We have the staff and equipment to host large group or corporate outing and specialize in school paddle trips and lessons. We operate seasonally from April 1 to the end of Thanksgiving. We have a large rental fleet with a diverse range of boats for novice, intermediate and advanced paddlers. Our rental fleet consists of single, double, family-​friendly double kayaks, canoes, voyageur canoes, dragon boats, and stand up paddle boards.

Rocky Point Kayak has been in operation since 2000 and specializes in kayak rentals, lessons and tours. Over the years we have expanded and evolved to become one of the premier destinations in Vancouver for kayaking.

Jamie C.

Business Owner

Jamie was born and raised in Port Moody, in fact, he attended pre-​school at Rocky Point, had his first swim lesson at Rocky Point and his first job at Pajo’s at Rocky Point. In only seemed fitting that Jamie’s road to self-​employment at the age of 21, started with a small in-​line skate rental and lesson business at Rocky Point. This venture lead to other businesses, the creation of Rocky Point Ice Cream in 1997, Rocky Point Kayak in 2001 and an Italian café in 2002. Needless to say, you will find Jamie and his family at the park most days.

We signed up for the full moon paddle advertised as:
«We venture out at sunset to explore the shallows of the Burrard Inlet with it’s many nocturnal marine mammals and bird life. We then detour to visit our large harbour seal colony and get up close to our residential eagle and osprey nests. We will then leisurely paddle back by the light of the moon whilst enjoying the lights of the inlet and phosphorescence in the water.»
We were disappointed to discover that the lead guide had not only not led the full moon paddle before, she had never been on the paddle. She was a very nice girl, very personable, but there were many times where they had to stop so that the more experienced guide could supply her with directions. She did point out a few baby seals in the distance but we were not allowed to go and see them as it took us off course. There was no detour to a nest of any kind and if we were in the area of it, it was not disclosed to us, despite kayaking along side the instructor the entire time. On the way back we were inquiring as to the time of the full moon rising and were EXTREMELY surprised to hear that the full moon had been on Wednesday, June 3, 2015 and the moon was not expect to rise until 12:30 in the morning. There was also no phosphorescence viewable in the water, whether it is the wrong time of year or it was a coincidence, I don’t know. Finally, we thought it was a little odd to stop a wildlife kayak for 15 — 20 minutes to give a lecture on oil, while we were all forced to sit in place and wait.
Contacted the owner — «I agree with you that on this particular tour we did not live up to what we advertised» he made an offer to give us a free rental… but that never came through either… disappointing at best.

The instructor Cutris was super friendly and helpful. Gave me easy stuff to learn and my husband challenging new tricks to learn. Suitable for all levels of fitness athleticism! View is stunning. We saw a dozen or so seals. They are so cute!
