This place was jam packed on a Sunday in the middle of Summer tourist season. However, we were seated promptly and had food and drink in hand very quickly given how busy it was. No local craft beers on tap unfortunately but still an ok selection. We split some potato skins and had a pint of Okanagon Springs so nothing fancy but they hit the spot. The main thing that stuck out was the great service. You can have a great menu, serve pricey dishes with local ingredients and have a great drink menu but if the service sucks… the restaurant sucks. Too often I find that to be the case in PEC(The Drake being an exception… we’ve always had good service there). Glad that The Duke seemed to buck that trend on our first visit.

Very big change in food and service since the owners(When it was Sandbanks) sold to the new proprietors of the Duke of Wellington. The food is now well worth the trip, utilizing local ingredients across the menu, and with great attention to detail in the kitchen. The burgers are spectacular. New additions include the Canadian Bacon Cheese Burger layerd with piles of peameal bacon, and the More Bacon Burger with three different kinds of bacon on the burger with all the fixings. Add to that the amazing views from the massive waterfront patio and the Duke has taken a poor concept and completely turned it around.
