This was my first visit since Rosehall opened their modern tasting room with the panoramic views of the vineyards, and I was quite impressed by the new facility. They have a nice selection of wines so you are bound to find something to your taste here. They also carry some grocery products to accompany the wines. I wound up grabbing the Pixie and their new Indigo sparkling wine. You can’t have too much bubbly on hand!

Rosehall Run is a cute little boutique winery. The tasting room is small, but there is some outdoor seating. Nice Chardonnay and Pinot Noir. They also carry a small selection of local food items including jellies, hot sauce(Vicky’s Veggies), cheese, and chocolates. You can even buy a cheese/grapes platter and eat it on their patio. On summer weekends, there’s a food truck called PICNIC that has sandwiches and salads. A nice stop if you are wine tasting in the Hillier region — you can combine it will visits to Norman Hardie and Casa Dea which are both on the same road.

I went to Norman Hardie for a tasting and they told me I had to try Rosehall Run, almost with an enthusiasm that made me think they owned it. The winery is less than a km from Norman Hardie on the same road. Bear in mind when you come here that this winery is competing with the likes of Norman Hardie for space at the top end of the market. The cheapest wine here will cost 19 $ a bottle. That warning aside, Rosehall Run produces a very nice oaked Chardonnay, a blend called The Certain Ratio which has won awards and is ready to drink, and a Pinot Noir that has won awards as well. The award winning Pinot is no slouch at 39 $ a bottle, but is priced to match Norman Hardie and others who put a premium on their reserve and award winning wines. The service here is both knowledgeable and friendly. The space is clean and modern, offering both an area to view wines and a small gift area as well. If you find something you like, you will have a unique wine that is not sold at the LCBO.

This winery has some good products but not as big as Sandbanks obviously. I appreciated the cute and friendly atmosphere in the tasting room. Sample some wines with no pressure to buy. I recommend the«righteous dude» Riesling. The Pixie is also fun. The location is stunning. Beautiful grounds tucked nicely away from any sign of civilization. Picnic tables are placed right in front of the vines, which came in handy for me because there was a food truck present that day for lunch.

This place has a modern, new age vibe to it. It’s got giant glass windows and being that the vineyard is located at the end of the road, the entire place seems to have presence when you step in. Before you step up to the tasting counter, take a look around at some of the general store offerings — preserves, mustards and the like are for sale and all look delicious. When we did start tasting, our party noticed a sampling of blueberry jalapeño jam on the counter that was to die for! The tasting staff are knowledgable, but felt a bit pushy for a sale. We enjoyed a few samples but didn’t end up taking anything home with us.
