I recently moved uptown and needed a new regular place. I am super picky with my nails. THEGOOD: I would say thay this place used really good techniques to do gel nails and add shellac colour on top — the nail comes out looking so THIN as if you had only applied a thin layer of shellac. it’s amazing. The selection of shellac colours is great — they have a steady flow of clients so the bottles are fresh/viscous enough for nice applications. They use sanding machines to shape down your nails gradually. Very gentle and effective mani and pedis. The application of gel and shellac were right to my cuticle without touching my cuticle. When I noticed the too coat had some bubbles and asked her to fix it, she did. The end result of my nails is the best ive ever had. I also did my eyebrows for the first time here, they have one technician that does it and she is very meticulous — I asked for a certain shape and she said she couldnt do it according to the way my eyebrows grew. I said fine and told her to go ahead with her way and it turned out very nice, a lot thinner than my usual but the shape compliments my face. THEBAD: even when you have an appointment you will wait if they are busy. It seems like they accept walk ins in place of appointments(maybe this does not happens with regulars? but who knows). I waited a good 20mins past my appointment time this time i went. if you pop in on less busy hours its not as big of a problem. The english is not the best and with some technicians the barrier is more apparent. What irks me is that they try to tell you what you want or what looks better despite what you want them to do, not just as mere advice but condescending judgment. This ruined my whole experience, but good thing I stuck out my guns and insisted she do it my way or else I would not have been happy with the result. She was very rude about it. I overheard another technician say, not quietly, to a customer ‘No more fixing!!’. So this is what you are dealing with. In conclusion, if all you want are great results, go here. Your nails will gleam and look dandy for weeks! Just know that you may need to grit your teeth or bite your tongue a bit. Make sure you stick to what you want and are firm about getting it. Prices are slightly above average, so keep that in mind. If you want a spa experience and great customer service during your treatment, you may want to look elsewhere. because it is not relaxing!

Horrible, dirty and rude. The whole place is very messy and the main lady(manager) is so rude. Felt rushed like a «get in, get out» type of attitude. Zero customer service.

I have been going to this salon since they opened. I have no idea why I kept going back but last week was the very last time! I have been cut before and it wasn’t a big deal but this time was BAD. I went in for a pedicure and manicure. I should also mention I am 8 months pregnant. I thought this place was clean enough that it wouldn’t be a problem. During my pedicure, I had a horrible pain in my toe. My cuticle had not only been cut but more ripped off. It hurt so bad. The pedicurist attempted to jam my whole foot back in the water. I said«no it kind of hurts, maybe I’ll leave it out of the water» as it was stinging! The pedicurist beside us said«pregnancy makes you very very sensitive» no it doesn’t… My toe was bleeding. 3 days later my toe is so sore and I’m really really worried its infected. Seeing a Dr this week. They try to rush through as many appts as possible to fit many people in. I don’t even think the lady doing my nails was certified. She did a really crappy job in the end. I’ll pay the extra money next time and go to an actual spa.

If you want to go to a place that will honor your appointment DONOT go here! I went to this place because of a recommendation. The first time, I had to wait 30 minutes because they took a walk in before me! Who does this when they have an appt on the books? Then I gave them another chance a month later, and I waited 40 minutes past my appointment, then left because it was going to take even longer! I will never go back to this place.

I do not know what Merijaan J. is talking about in her review! The Richmond hill Pedi & Nails is the cleanest place I have ever encountered. I have been going to them for almost since they opened. Yes sometimes you have to wait but if you were silly enough to go to such a busy place without an appointment, it’s your fault. The type of service they offer is not always predictable down to the minute when one of the girls will be freed up. They are kind, they try their best… for much less than the glamorous spas ask and they have differing abilities with the English language, depending on how long they’ve been here from Vietnam. I have my favourites, but I know one thing, they all put in a very long day and they work at warp speed. I have been there at the end of the day when while my girl was finishing up with me, all the others were cleaning, including every chair, sanitizing the equipment, scrubbing anywhere water goes. In the almost 4 years I’ve gone to them, I have NEVER seen a new client sit in a pedicure chair that the basin wasn’t first scrubbed and sanitized.

Terrible service! they tell you its a 5 minute wait and you end up waiting 30 minutes(thats when I walked out). The waxing girl is the most miserable woman I have ever encountered. I have been here a few times and kept thinking she was just having a bad day, but no, she is always miserable. She does not even sanitize her hands before touching your face! I also had a pedicure there and when the lady beside me was finished, they didn’t even wash out the basin for the next girl they motioned over for her pedicure. I was absolutely disgusted and started to wonder about the state of my own basin…. The also use the same nail files on EVERYONE! Gross! I think I public health should be informed. The place is always busy, so I dont even want to think about the germ turnover.
