This was the first time we shopped at Sherwin-Williams. We wanted a good paint, so that we didn’t have to repaint too soon. Our online research led us to get either a top of the line Sherwin-Williams or Benjamin Moore or Behr paint. Since SW stores had a 40% off sales ongoing, and the other didn’t, we opted to shop at SW. The shopkeeper at this SW location was knowledgeable about the paint and other stocks in the store. He was obviously an experienced painter. He asked us about the nature of the paint job, the condition of the wood, gave suggestion on how we could prepare the wood, under what condition/weather we should paint(this was an exterior paint job), managed our expectation on how often we should repaint. He went above and beyond to advise us on what more we could do to avoid/delay water infiltration(caulking, aluminium sheet). He even gave us pro tips on painting and caulking techniques. Of course, he recommended the paint and primer based on the needs of this job. Throughout, he was eloquent, patient and informative. Not only did he gave us 40% off on regular prices, he also told us about an additional $ 10 discount if we enrolled in the Paint Perks. And enrolled we did. The final bill came to $ 61.29, tax included, for a can of acrylic paint and a can of exterior primer. This experience was thoroughly enjoyable. I now know the difference between the services I can get at a pro paint shop versus next to nil services at a hardware store. I would highly recommend buying at a pro paint shop if you are new to painting or attempting a tricky paint job. Even if you are experienced, it is still useful to shop at a pro paint shop, because the pro tips and services you can get is unparalleled.
