I came here about 2 years ago and I did not like it one bit. Why did I come back? I thought it’d be fair to give it another chance, and because everywhere else we tried had a 30 min wait. There’s a reason why this place wasn’t as busy. Their menu is very limited and not to mention, a bit confusing. One side of the menu is «afternoon tea» while the other side is «mini lunch sets» and there are repeated items, so what’s the difference? I’m not sure. They both come with drinks. I decided to try something new, I ordered the«worton chicken soup» as they had a picture of it and said it was«著名»(famous). It was simply 3 wontons and 3 small pieces of chicken with some bok choy. It was definitely not worth my money. When the bill came, they had another name for it «shark fin wonton soup». Really? Why do you have different names and it had absolutely no shark fin or shark fin taste in it. Definitely an unsatisfying experience.

Ordered Teriyaki softbone pork with rice and Curry chick boneless with rice. It is just ok… The service is fast.

Slowest service ever, two years never went back and it has not changed, first time i went there we ended up cancelling our order after 45 minutes. This time going there after 2 years of avoiding it and nothing has changed except this time we got 1 of the order, expensive and not worth it. Never again are we going back.

Team Fam came here for dinner and I had the following dinner set for $ 18: Russian Borscht Soup with Croissant Top Pattaya Chicken Peppercorn Sauce with Rice Japanese Sponge Cake The Russian Borscht was a mix of tomatoes, onion, and some cabbage. There wasn’t any beetroot like you’d see in a traditional Russian borscht, but that’s how Hong Kong style cafes usually do it. Think of it as the Miso Soup replacement. You don’t expect too much more than a hot soup and this fell right in line. The croissant top was a cool novelty though. The Pattaya Chicken is where things got really interesting. Pattaya really just refers to fried chicken(I looked at some recipes online). The chicken was juicy, tender, and the skin was delicious. I’ve seen some negative reviews on this restaurant so I think I got kind of lucky with my choice. The Pattaya is a good item to order and it’s a lot of chicken for one person especially when eaten with the rice. Speaking of which… The Peppercorn Sauce is meant to be poured all over the rice to drench it in a salty sauce to eat with your chicken. I only poured about 60% of the sauce here into my rice because otherwise it would have been too salty. The Sponge Cake dessert is where the meal went downhill for me. I didn’t find too much flavour in this sponge cake and it wasn’t even that spongey; it was a very cold dessert, likely right out of a fridge, and so I would have liked to see some more bounce from this sponge cake.

Pricey. Drinks are bad. One of the servers doesn’t speak English and the other one barely did. Servers were not very attentive, neither were they very knowledgeable about their products, but the food was decent.

Was here over the weekend for a breakfast/brunch/lunch meal. Came here around 1130am on a Saturday. It seemed they were very short staffed as I had to wait a while before even getting acknowledged or seated. After getting seated, it was a while before the order was taken even though the server saw us flagging him over multiple times. They were that busy and short on staff. Anyway I ordered one of their set menus with beef steak x 2 because I love my meat. Aside from the soup, the food and drink also took a long time before it finally arrived. The meal came with your choice of soup, and I made the wrong choice with the cream soup which was mushroom soup. It was very watery and was clear that they use water instead of milk to make it. Not very creamy at all. However, I have to say the beef was a lot more delicious and tender than what I would expect for a HK café style restaurant. I was pleasantly surprised. Would I be back? It’s hard to say, maybe if I am already in the mall and don’t feel like having food court food. But I recommend coming after 12pm as it looked like that’s when they have more servers working.

Stopped off here for a quick bite before my evening flight back to Montréal. No complaints at all about the place. Food was tasty and the people working there were nice. My wife and I each had the ‘Mixed Seafood Grill’ and my son had the ‘American Style Mixed Grill’. I would definitely go back if I was ever in the area.

ABCHK Café seems to have a LOVE/HATE thing going on with its clientele. No one seems neutral on this place. I enjoy the food here — if you’re into HK dining you’ll find all the usual menu items. The service is relatively attentive — I have never felt rushed here. Every time I’ve eaten here, it has been with a party of 4 or more — so we’ve gotten a good look at a wide variety menu items and the service. My fav Unilocal Vancouver reviewer is Mark D., he introduced me to HK style dining. I find his standard of ordering the same dish — I think he gets baked seafood or pork chop — at each place to compare is helpful. We’ve ordered the baked pork chop here and found it as good as other local HK establishments. Actually, my youngest daughter always orders the pork chop without fail… ABC is cleaner than No. 9 — with less options. The food is better quality than Silver Tower. I prefer ABC to Cattle Café — ABC has a bigger menu. The main drawback is they are closed very early for an HK Café. My sister insists on going here for the French Toast sandwich — which is basically a 2 inch high confection. Two slabs of Texas Toast on steroids with butter and jelly. She loves it… so do I, but I can’t eat it or I will bust out of my clothes at the table. The best HK Café I’ve ever been to in Richmond is the now defunct Kam Do(sigh), so I’m not trying to say ABC is the acme, the apex or even benchmark of this cuisine… but I fall on the Love side of this debate.

As a visitor to Vancouver, I hope the service from this restaurant does not represent Vancouver’s general service quality standard. First, when we ordered our dish, we ordered drinks that come along with the meal. One of the drinks that we ordered was a red bean ice cream milk tea. It is probably standard that special drinks orders come after the main entrée. Instead, the server brought out the drinks first. When we asked why the server did it, the server responded by saying we never specified to get our drinks last. In my opinion, I think it is by default that drinks and desserts should come after entrees, especially when the drinks involve ice cream, which means the patron needs to finish the ice cream first before it melts. When that happens, your taste buds get completely altered, and that shouldn’t go well with the entrée. It basically destroys the entire tasting experience. Anyway, we reflected that in our tip. When we were about to leave, the manager had the audacity to question why we left so little tip. You know what happens afterwards. This place is a disappointment.

Their service is completely horrible. I don’t understand how this place can still survive. Not to mention the food was plain and expensive. The staff never smile to us. They came to us and spoke in English«What do you want?». And I’m seriously they actually did say«What do you want?» instead of something like what would you like etc etc. After we’ve finished eating, we had to pay around $ 30. We gave a $ 50 bill and they never gave us back any changes and receipts. We had to go and ask and they say«Oh because you didn’t ask for changes and receipts, that’s why we didn’t give them to you». I’m like seriously?! I have to ask for change?! Isn’t it something they suppose to do without anyone telling them?

Came here with my sister, she ordered the rib-eye steak combo that comes with a drink while I got the chicken filet combo. Service: –typical Chinese restaurant service, if you want something, you’ll have to flag someone down. The servers wouldn’t come check up on you if you don’t flag them down. Food: Not bad actually. It’s alright but I agree with others that it’s overpriced for this quality. Chicken filet is very tender and juicy. The black pepper sauce is so so. The milk tea is delicious compared to the ones we have here in Los Angeles. Overall, it’s convenient if you’re staying at the Radisson hotel across the street. I wish their portions was bigger and priced a few bucks lower.

We came here on a weekday night. Restaurant was not busy hence service was quick. We ordered baked seafood spaghetti and terryaki chicken rice in stone bowl. Food quality and speed were good. Rice bowl was kind of small portion. We also got two hk milky tea, they were good. These items cost nearly $ 30. You can get similar food at the food court much cheaper. Though sometimes you may just want to bring your company to a place that you get serviced. So it’s your call. For me it was an okay experience, so 4 stars I might come back again to try other dishes here.

Below average taste and above average price for an hk Café. No thanks Had baked porkchop on rice. The sauce was tangy in a bad way. The pork wasn’t crunchy and the cut of meat poor. The rice was not even fried rice. Set meal cost 11 $ which is more expensive than average. Just really poor value and poor meal. The service wasn’t terrible as other reviews say. At least not for me This poor review is just for the poor value and food

I would probably give ABC five stars if the server can relax a little bit and not try to rush their customers… Other than that I think I am satisfy with their food, set up, ambiance… Price wise I won’t say it’s fair but still reasonable because of the location inside Aberdeen Mall. In my humble opinion that ABC received such low ratings is that most people has higher expectation and demands more from ABC which is not to the perfection… I hope their management would re-educate the servers first, ease them down a bit… and secondly, trained them with better memories on the orders… Abc deserves a lot more higher ratings IMHO…

Worse Hk café in Richmond. I first visited this restaurant last year and had their choose your own noodle combo. It was incredibly bland and I left hungry, unwilling to finish the rest of my food. It’s now a year later and against my better judgement I am once again here. They have a special deal going on where Tuesdays is 20% off western style meals — but there’s a catch. Make that two. On Tuesdays, only western meals are served. You can’t order from the regular menu. Also it turns out that the discount is only limited to half of the what is already severely limited menu. Do yourself a favour, save your money and don’t bother going here. There are much better food options around — food court included.

Went for an afternoon snack. We usually enjoy HK style cafés so we decided to take a chance. What I liked: — nice place. — service wasn’t bad. Staff was nice and not at all rude. What I didn’t like: — lack of options for food. Seemed liked there was a lot of dinner specials like lobster and whatnot, but their regular dishes were so plain. — bubble tea wasn’t terrible but definitely not enjoyable so I won’t order it again. — food was plan and flavorless. I can make it at home and probably more tasty. Overall: I won’t be going back. If they can’t do the basics right, I won’t bother spending more money on the expensive dinner. The lobster on sticky rice did look good though.

We came here for dessert. I had the durian pancake & it was awful! There was just a miniscule teaspoon of durian purée in a crêpe and the rest was filled with a ton of crème. The waitresses are not trained well as they were unfamiliar with the menu and could not answer any questions about the different foods that we were interested in ordering. They had to keep on going back and forth to the kitchen to ask them for the answers. My friend had the grass jelly/red bean drink. He said it was tasteless. Will not repeat…

I went here on a Friday afternoon with my boyfriend. The place was pretty quiet, but it looked nice. The service was all right. Or waitress was a bit awkward but seemed nice enough. She took our orders, but I’m not sure if she was too familiar with it. Maybe she was new? Anyway. I ordered the BBQ pork with rice, since it was 20% off and I wanted something simple. And I was on point with«simple»; it had around 8 slices of pork, two sticks of Chinese vegetable, and a heap of rice. I guess I didn’t think it was going to be THIS simple(was hoping for small side dishes too much to expect?). The meal costed $ 7.95, and with a drink(Green Tea Ice Cream Soda, which was really good), mine was around $ 10. The combo deal where a drink added to the meal would cost extra $ 2 was pretty brilliant, but I think the meal itself could’ve been better. It made me realize I should never get BBQ pork from cafes, but rather from Chinese BBQ houses where they specialize it. The pork tasted pretty decent, but I know other places that can do it better. My order came before my bf’s. Our drinks came when his came, which took about 10 minutes. They could’ve timed our meals and prepared mine when they were finished with his… it was also obvious that they forgot about our drinks because my bf’s milk tea was sitting on their counter for a bit. Anyway, lets discuss the BBQ ribs that my bf ordered. The sauce tasted like watered down BBQ sauce, and the meat was more fatty than necessary. The«baked» potato didn’t even seem baked; it looked like it was microwaved. I’ve baked potatoes myself, and that did NOT look baked whatsoever. For $ 13.95 though, I’d say we got what we paid for. So, food that seemed microwaved and timed poorly(order wise), for cheap prices… would I come back here again? Nah. I can make the same stuff they did, but better, for the amount we paid for their food. I can eat something better elsewhere. Like I said… service wasn’t so bad. Our waitress came to fill our tea glasses. She didn’t mess up our orders. The timing of our meals arriving could’ve been better. It’s the food that really brought down the ratings for me. And you know, if you want cheap food, there’s always the food court on the third floor of the mall, which would probably taste a lot better than here for the same price you’re paying.
