We went there for my bf’s birthday with 4 of our friends. Everyone enjoy this place and we were all amazed by this 3-tiers hot pot thing! Its pretty cool isn’t it! I couldnt found anywhere else that has 3 tiers hotpot, whether you get to do hot pot, bbq and steam food at the same time.
Their service are really good, compare to other Chinese hot pot place… lol
Their food are fresh and tons of variety for hot pot. And even give to free sauce when other hotpot places charge you for every single sauce… However, i wish they have more variety for bbq choices and more choices for steam food.
Would definety go back and recommend to others! :)
A little tip: if you happen to go there for their 3 tiers hotpot, remember to get the bbq chicken wings for bbq!

This is my favourite hot pot place other than at home. I feel like the dishes and utensils I get are much cleaner than most hot pot places. The soup base is excellent! I usually get satay which is $ 9. When you first arrive to the table you have soy sauce and satay sauce ready to use with your food. The service is honestly a hit or miss! Today wasn’t so great … They forgot half our order but they quickly went to go check and we received the rest of our order right away. Usually the service is a lot better than this. I give this place a 4 star rating because of my past experiences with this resto, I’m going to let today’s exp slide just a little. My friend and I split the bill which came up to $ 21.90 after tax. I don’t recall them giving us dessert at the end but today it was offered — tofu pudding. I was way too full to try this so I am not able to comment on the dessert.

Been to this hotpot several times. It’s always jammed packed during dinner time. There’s a big selection and the pricing is good. Ingredients are fresh (and we get the portion we ordered), there’s quite a variety of soup bases to pick from, and drink is unlimited refill and so are the sauces. Only problem is the lack of service. It takes a while to track down the busy servers.

The buffet was great except for one big problem that caused me to write this review. I was happy that this place had a large selection of meat to choose from and even oysters. My friends weren’t lovers of oysters so I ate their share too which was a total of 6 oysters. The oysters that came were huge and I enjoyed it but the day after my stomach rumbled with gas non stop and followed by diahrrea which is still on going. Its surely the oysters cos my friends didn’t get the food poisioning. What a pity as I wss eagerly reccomending this place to my friends. DO NOT EAT THE OYSTERS

Good choice of food selection for bbq and hot pot but service is very slow and subpar had to flag down server just to take our order after 20 mins of waiting to be helped should not be customer responsibility to do this. There are other hot pot places that have better service. Overall good food just slow service. If you don’t mind waiting then it’s ok.

I’ve been here once before. Was ok. Then last week, a few friends wanted to try it so I tagged along. Maybe it would be better the second time, in case the first time they had an off day. Still the same.
Initially the price appears cheaper than other places, which I guess it is but then they charge for soup base ($ 7 to $ 11). Also if you want condensed milk for the buns, it’s another $ 1 per tiny saucer. Then add the drink. Add cilantro and parsley, it’ll cost you. Soon it’ll be around $ 30 a person.
Other hotpot places have a small section where can get your sauces and ingredients for your dipping bowl such as chives, chili oil, chili sauce, soy sauce, onions, parsley, cilantro, etc. This place, they give you a bowl of soy sauce and bowl of BBQ sauce. You have to pay for cilantro and other ingredients that other places have for free.
The food is ok, like most hotpot places. You also don’t get the amount of meat that you order and other veggies are small portions. Also if you don’t finish all the food you order, they will charge you more. I guess it’s ok as they don’t want to waste food. How much unfinished food before they charge more, I’m not sure. My friends and I finished it all, only because they didn’t give us all the meat we ordered.
Parking is sometimes hard to find, due to area.

My family and I have been here a few times. We always go on a Tuesday and there is usually no wait. However, the most recent Tuesday we went, the wait ended up being 2 hours (they quoted us 45 min). I would make a reservation for next time, just in case.
The price is now $ 20.95 per adult and $ 9+ for soup. For the selection and quality I feel like the price is worth it on a normal day. However, on our most recent visit, some of the items my family wanted (e.g., fish tofu, pork blood, oysters, many of the vegetables) ran out. We understand that it happens on a busy day but what took away from our experience is that they didn’t inform us even after they put our order in. Also, we were never informed of last call so I missed out on some of the items I still wanted.
On the plus side, service was still friendly overall.
What I also liked on my most recent visit though is that they have now added a steamer to the top of the pot. We put corn on the cob in that compartment. Yum!

gonna be so honest, service here is a ¹⁄₁₀. they over pack the wait list so you end up waiting 45mins to an hour even if you have a reservation. I’ve been to plenty of better ayce hot pots around the area and this ones by far my least favourite. they take at least 10 – 15 mins to clean a damn table lol and if you ask any of the employees how much longer it will take to get seated, they reply with such disrespectful attitude. menu wise, there are a lot of options but takes a while to get the actual food to the table. very pricey for the service/ambience ($ 30/person) highly recommend you take your money elsewhere.

This place is all-you-can-eat. However, when it comes to hot pot, the tedium of a marathon waiting and eating session got to me before I was full.
The ingredients selection is quite good, but quality is mediocre, and you end up spending a lot more than the meal is worth. You’ll end up spending at least $ 30.
The spicy broth is quite ok, but it takes a while to find a good common ground between spicy and mild. By the time the broth was ready, I had already administered a few chilies to the tongue. Call me a rookie.
Thumbs up to the dumplings, fish balls, tofu puffs, and sliced meats.
Thumbs down to the oysters.
Service is a weak point. On a busy evening, it’s obvious that servers are trying to avoid eye contact with you when you need them.

My family and I decided to go hot pot on the Black Friday weekend. Clocked in at around 5:45 to 6:00pm and they were fully booked. The servers who were having their early dinner was nice enough to quickly finish their meal and told us we can be seated but will have to finish our meals within 1.5 hours.
We picked claypot because of their three-tier hot pot where you get to steam, bbq or boil (in the hot pot) the items you tick off from the menu. There over 5 soup base to choose from. Each with a different price next to it. Max 2 soup bases per pot (which is the norm). There’s an extensive list of items you can choose from. From meats, to seafood, different types of meatballs, noodles, vegetables and for an added price you can also have all you can drink. Dishes like sticky rice with preserved meat is also included in the price. On side there was also a small list of items you can get if you pay extra (ie. sauce, green onions). You get a separate list for things that can go on the bbq. Oh and there’s oysters for your hot pot. The limit is 2 per person.
We were overwhelmed with all the choices so we didn’t end up using the bbq or the steamer. All four of us were stuffed after 1.5 hours. We also go tofu pudding as dessert. I love the tofu dessert. I wish it were on the menu, I’d totally get all you can eat tofu pudding. It’s even better than getting it some dessert places.
The service was prompt and they asked if we needed our teas filled. We might have been 5−10mins over but they didn’t rush us out or anything.
I’d suggest making a reservation if you’ve set your mind on having hot pot here. A lot of walk-in customers were turned down due to how packed/popular it was. We were lucky we made it in time. I’d definitely come back again!

I’ve been to my fair share of AYCE hot pot places but Claypot definitely has the most intense hot pot set up I’ve ever seen, allowing for a far greater variety of food than most typical hot pot places. There’s a steamer on the top so you’re able to steam dim sum but there’s also a grill so food such as chicken wings can be grilled.
Finally, the hot pot itself offers a variety of soup bases and ingredients. I tried the Tom yum and the watercress soup bases, both of which were excellent. The Tom yum soup base, in particular, went great with the vegetables, as the vegetables really absorbed the flavour of the soup.
There is a vast variety of ingredients available, with even quail eggs and an assortment of intestines (I highly recommend the handmade beef balls). The beef at this hot pot joint also has great quality. It’s soft and extremely delicious. Given that this is an all-you-can-eat place, this is rare, and for $ 25/person, I would highly recommend for a (very) full meal.

Delicious and Yummy. Sauce, food, taste. Satay sauce is delicious and probably housemate. Serving is extremely slow however (order a lot in beginning) and waitress here don’t smile. I would nonetheless recommend it and return.

I’ve eaten at hot pot places all over Vancouver, Burnaby and Richmond. I cannot say I’m a connoisseur, they are all very very similar to me but I have to say Claypot is one of my favourites because of the wide selection for all you can eat (they have a built in BBQ on top of the hot pot, pretty cool but it’s not that good so I’d say just focus on the boiling stuff) and it’s one of the roomier hot pot places. I also love it when hotpot places have a sauce buffet, this one unfortunately does not.

During my first visit it was Saturday night and extremely busy so I understood that their service was a bit slow.
However, the second visit was another disappointment. Don’t get me wrong, the food is good as well as the selection but they really need to work on their service.
On our first order sheet we put down 3 udon, received 2. On the second order sheet we put 3 udon again and only received one. I asked the waitress if I could order two more since it’s only one small square of udon between two people and since I initially ordered 3. She replied with, «I’ll give you more when you finish it.» So I was like ok… I think one of her superiors over heard our conversation and approached our table asking if we needed anything and if our dinner was going well, which I appreciated. We told him we were missing an item but that it’s okay. A couple minutes later the bill comes all of a sudden. Without even asking for it. We were still eating when someone came with the machine and tried to take our hot pot away, I then said «there’s still food in there.» Paid, finished, never going back.
It’s a shame because this restaurant would do much better if they properly trained their employees.

Base rate is about 25 $ per person (21 per person, but you have to buy soup base for the table which is going to be another 10, at least).
Some items cost extra– and it’s likely you’re going to add more.
All in all you are going to be spending 28 – 35 After tax, tip, drinks and extra add ons to get the type of meal you want
It’s not bad, it’s certainly not as cheap as it sounds when you hear that it’s 21 $ per person.
The service is on par with any of the other AYCE hot pot places
The plum juice IS unique (and refillable)
The 3 level grill, hotpot, grill, steamer is kind of fun but not totally necessary in the grand scheme of eating.
Not a bad choice for hotpot. But in the grand scheme of things I rarely actually eat 30 $ worth of food and the variety isn’t so stunning that I need to come back.
This is definitely only if you are in a big group of friends (4 – 8) and they are big eaters.
Cooking yourself is sometimes fun, but not totally my thing either.

This place combines hotpot and BBQ. The idea sounds great especially since it’s around 20 $ per person. But execution is not the best.
The hotpot portion was excellent with lots of options for meat veggies and other items.
There was less selection for BBQ items and the BBQ did not work very well. The grilled food would get steamed if anything and would take forever to cook.
I would recommend you just ask for the hotpot only to give yourself more space on the table. The hotpot was worth the money and deserves a good rating.
Side note. This review is based primarily on the food. The service is horrid. But you expect that from a place like this.

This place is busy. Busy is good. Actually, busy usually means it IS good.
The food is tasty, varied, and the cooking style is unique. There is a flame burner in the table and you get a three tiered cooker. Base has soup for hotpot. Middle is a BBQ grill. Top is a mini steamer.
The food is marinated and comes out raw. You put it into your choice of cooking style (boil in soup, BBQ on grill, or steam) and enjoy.
Yummy.
I’ll come back for sure. Will bring family and friends. Must try other items on menu.

The All you can eat is $ 18. Soup bases are $ 7 and up. Side toppings/sauces like chilies are another $ 1 or more. Drinks (unlimited refills) are also $ 1 or more. Hot pot in some places in Vancouver… it’s sorta like DLC for video games. They nickel and dime you, but it’s not necessary for the over all experience. I hate that… but If you can look past this (or have a large part to split costs), I can recommend this place.
Their merit comes from a decent array of seafood, vegetable and meats. No items stand out as exceptional, but again, their options are pretty good. The option for BBQ is also a nice touch. But I’d argue their actual hot pot/grill combo is a little hard to navigate. But that’s being nitpicky. They have private rooms and TV’s. The option to Watch hockey and eating hot pot is awesome.
The tom yum soup base was flavourful and the satay was also pretty good. They do give soya sauce and satay. I think the unlimited drinks was a nice thing to provide to customers as well.
Im not a fan of the hot pot «DLC» business model, but this place is a decent venue with good selection. The tv, the unlimited drinks (like plum) and the BBQ option make this place stand out.
I don’t think I would come back because of said business model.

Claypot is one of those places where if you understand what you are getting yourself into then it’s not so bad. I would give it a 3.5÷5 stars and I“ll break it down to why.
PROS: It’s $ 19.99/person plus cost of broth ($ 7 – 10)
It’s fairly new and modern.
The owners are affiliated with a chicken farm and they have free-range «high quality chicken».
They have this cool 3 tier pot where you have hot pot on the bottom, a grill in the middle, and a steamer at the top. It makes for more variety
Their menu is pretty extensive, and has pretty much everything you could want for hot pot. I think they have at least 6 types of tofu, many veggie and meat options, and some cooked food like chicken on rice.
CONS: It’s busy, but that is a testament to how good it is. Don’t expect to get a seat without reservations, any day of the week, and if you go anywhere after 6pm it’s so busy you might have problems, especially if you are in a larger group.
The service isn’t stellar. You go in, get seated, and order. Until you get the bill don’t expect much service; otherwise you will be very disappointed.
The broths have a lot of MSG and you only get basic satay and soy sauce to dip your meats in. This part could be much improved.

Few friends and I decided to hit up Claypot for a late dinner after an activity-packed Saturday. We chose Claypot due to its popularity and the fact it was all you can eat. The restaurant is located in one of the many strip malls along Alexandra in the same complex as MaxNoodle. It’s modern and fairly large so we didn’t need reservations despite our party of 8.
The menu is quite extensive. There’s the usual meat options such as pork, lamb, and beef as well as more unusual options like pig ears and quail eggs. The hotpot itself is separated into two sections for soup and a third elevated surface at the top for pan frying. For an extra $ 1.50, you can get unlimited pop as well.
Service is the single reason I rated it as I did. Several of us are big eaters (one guy is actually a comptitive weightlifter) and as a table, went through a LOT of food — over 200 pieces of beef, pork and lamb if I remember correctly and that was just the protein. The restaurant probably wasn’t making any money on us but that is a risk they take. As a result, the waiters started being rude — tossing our orders on the table, ignoring us, and giving lame excuses why our other orders hadn’t arrived.
Claypot has the potential to provide a 4 star experience but the service was lacking even for a chinese hotpot restaurant.
