Enterprise Rent-A-Car

I received a free upgrade to a small SUV. The staff were very friendly, hospitable and most importantly ensured I had a vehicle that I felt comfortable driving despite it not being my original reservation.

I always use Enterprise because they always have great customer service, and this trip was no different!
We got a great car, the process for checking in and out was smooth and quick Snd I really appreciated the timely shuttle over to the airport after a long drive already.

Traveled from Vancouver, BC to Portland, OR. The staff at both locations were excellent. Dropping the car off at the Portland airport was the most friendly efficient staff.

This was a great experience. Rented a car for my week stay in Vancouver, thought the off airport-​site location was going to be a hassle, but the shuttle runs so frequently it was a piece of cake and easy to find pick-​up location — just outside of parking structure. Enterprise staff were super helpful and friendly, both at pick-​up and drop-​off. They gave me a free upgrade of car, and their weekly price was half of what it would have been to rent from another company (on-​airport) as far as I could tell from the pricing research I did. If I could give more than 5 stars for these guys I would in a heartbeat.

The staff at this location have been anything but helpful. After reserving a one-​way vehicle from Vancouver to Kamloops (read: Coquihalla driving) I decided to call and make sure that the vehicle would be roadworthy for winter conditions.
First of all I was placed on hold for twenty minutes and disconnected. TWICE. I decided to call the next day. When I was finally connected with someone I was informed that the vehicle I had reserved did not have snow tires. When I asked what my options are to ensure that I can arrive at my destination safely, her response was «just check the road conditions before you go». As if my magic eyes could burn through the DriveBC highway cams and melt all the snow and ice. After much deliberation, she had me pay to upgrade to the next biggest vehicle class that «might have better tires I think»…
I then spoke to a representative in the Kamloops location, who ensured me that as long as the tires are «M&S» (mud and snow) then I will be fine as long as I take the Fraser Canyon highway. I decided to call the YVR location again to see if my now-​upgraded reserved vehicle had these tires.
Well, this representative had no idea what M&S tires were and assumed I was talking about Snow Tires. After being told that none of their available vehicles have snow tires nor do they provide the option for them, I suggested having a prompt on their booking website that advises against this class of vehicle for the route selected as it is ILLEGAL to drive on the Coquihalla without snow tires. Before I could finish, I received a lengthy lecture on how «We don’t know (read: care) where you are going… we are in the lower mainland, so we do not have to deal with snowy weather conditions, so we do not provide snow tires.» Huh, I thought that people generally rent a vehicle to go SOMEWHERE ELSE.
The sole reason I have not abandoned Enterprise as a company is the lovely and helpful agent at the Kamloops location is helping me to secure a vehicle that will get me to my destination alive.

You know what I really, really hate? I really, really hate it when people write Unilocal reviews that are really just rebuttals or responses to other peoples’ reviews. That’s bouchedaggy (you figure it out). People who do that suck.
And, having said that, all I have to say about Vancouver’s airport Enterprise is that Rob P. is totally wrong! Yeah, you heard me: sux0r it, Rob! If you look in the dictionary under «wrong,» it has a hyperlink to your face! Cuz it’s 2010 and dictionaries can totally have hyperlinks now. I read it in Reader’s Digest. I can only assume, given the wild inaccuracies in Rob P.‘s review, that he was likely either high off his ass at the time or is mentally handicapped in a non-​cute way. The fact that he’s from Las Vegas and he was apparently in Vancouver visiting casinos only further validates my dubiousness over his review. That would be like someone from Wisconsin going on a cheese-​tasting tour of New Jersey.
I showed up at this Enterprise because they had a shuttle from the airport, and there were no other shuttles parked there when I arrived. I had no reservation, and based on my experience with 150 different Enterprises before this one, I expected that to not be a problem. I was almost wrong. The counter staff was extremely agitated to find out that I had no reservation and wanted a mid-​size car. They were exceptionally relieved to find out they had one. I equate that with a grocery store clerk openly praising Jesus when he finds that they do, in fact, have ground beef in the refrigerator case for me — which is to say, there is no reason this should be the sort of query that leads to high anxiety IF you are running your business correctly.
My PT Cruiser performed just fine, except that some joker put the speedometer in kilometers per hour, and apparently Vancouver thinks one speed limit sign per road per 50 km is plenty. I figured I would just keep it at around 60, figure that’s about 30, and my smile, charm, and rugged good looks would get me out of any scrapes with the Mounties (I’m not even sure horses can maintain 60 km/​hr for long, so I also planned to ignore their yelling for a few miles and see if I could just lose them).
$ 300 for a 5-​day rental seemed steep to me, and while 300 Canadian dollars would typically be just about enough to buy a newsstand copy of GQ, it turns out that lately, Canadian dollars have been getting all uppity and trading nearly on-​par with the Dead Presidents. I can only attribute this to some lurking trade imbalance in either seal blubber or Molson’s, and either way, I’m disturbed. Plus, the GPS device they charged me $ 10/​day for apparently only connected with metric satellite, because it took several hectares before it would boot up and give me directions.
Plus, it took like 45 minutes to check the car back in. I don’t claim to be some kind of special living God among men (as far as you know), but I will say that in my all-​knowing experience, the process of checking a car back in virtually always takes about 230 seconds. It involves 3 steps: (1) I park my car in the «car return» lane; (2) someone who belongs to the class of people who made fun of me in high school because I couldn’t jump over a standard track-​and-​field hurdle sleep-​walks her way through my car and gives me a hard time about not filling it back up, before printing me a receipt from her hand-​held receipt printer device; (3) I leave, reminded of why I went for 7 years of post-​high school education. There is nothing here that requires me to sit through 45 minutes of waiting.
SO, Unilocal tells me 1 star means «Eek! Methinks not.» I don’t typically say «eek,» because I am not a old maid in a nursery rhyme. I don’t typically say «methinks not» because I don’t own a leather gerkin or a poster of an actor in a vampire movie that I bought because I think his eyes are «dreamy» and I dress mostly in black and have no original thoughts. But even so, I think 1 star is appropriate because I pretty much wouldn’t recommend this place. Because I’m not a total spaz. Unlike Rob P.

This Enterprise has an absolutely great staff. When I was ready to pick up my car, they sent someone to pick me up from the River Rock Casino. I don’t think this location offers a pick-​up service normally, but they did it anyway, and quickly. When I arrived, they were able to help me merge my 2 reservations into 1 so I wouldn’t have to return the car only to check it out again. The rates were lower for half of my trip, so I had to book two reservations separately.
When I returned my car, it was quick and easy. The staff was willing to hold our luggage for a couple hours while we walked around the local area to kill time. Then we took their free shuttle to the airport. My bill for the 5 days I rented my car, including taxes, ended up being $ 81.28. Perfect!
