As a typical Chinese, I believed Chinese herbal soup that enhance health benefiting(like food therapy). I make soup at home every week and need to stock up my herbal ingredients from different shops. G&R Ginseng Trading is located at Union Square, they have huge select of dry foods, herbal ingredients and Chinese medicines. Overall, the prices are reasonable and the staffs are friendly and helpful.

Once you get over the smell after 5 minutes you learn to appreciate this place a little more. Unlke the other stores, I don’t feel as though I am walking into a mouse trap or run down eco housing/shop situation. Very friendly service. I came here to get a herbal blend that my herbalist prescribed to me for my asthma that I have to boil down and drink straight up(yeah that is gross, however, have been doing this since I was 11 so you get used to it). Prices are high, however, I noticed that the quality of the herbs themselves to be better. I get more herbal extraction out of these ones when boiled down compared to the shop in Metrotown I sometimes go to.

Extra star for Unilocal in even creating a subcategory for traditional chinese medicine lol. The cleanliness really puts their Chinatown competitors to shame. Well-lit, and unusually high ceilings. Prices are though a bit more. And friendly service that actually say hi to you when you walk in, though to be fair, I’m sure Chinatown ones also say hi if you’re the older gen who walks in and take seriously lol. Lots of free parking in plaza, beside Richmond Sushi.
