Lansdowne Shoe Renew

Never go there for anything! I should have read the reviews before I went there out of convenience. I just recently moved to Richmond and needed to add a sole to my shoes. Figure that it’s a simple enough job and probably won’t go wrong with any shoe repair. Boy was I mistaken. The turn around was fast for the work done, but the work done was horrible. The sole was not evenly cut, I can see amole glue residue, there’s a gauge on the original soles. The edge was sanded after the new soles were glued on and the sanding stripped the edge of the shoe and made it much rougher. Also cut off a small portion of the original sole. It was so frustrating I wanted to cry. The owner wasn’t in, so they said there was nothing that can be done. Offered to have me leave my shoes there so he can fix it. I declined as I do not trust their craftsmanship. Please I implore you, DO NOT TAKE YOUR SHOES THERE.

Aside from the unfriendly service, the workmanship and materials are not up to par. My shoe repair didn’t last even a year and the pieces are already falling apart.
I visited Richmond Centre Shoe Repair for a second work and the staff offered much more help/​choices. The cost is the same so please take the time to go there instead.

I brought my UGG boot to the shoe repair in Landsdowne mall. The guy working there, not sure it he’s the owner, was a bit rude and stated he would fix it. I had already brought it to another shoe repair who told me they couldn’t fix it without putting on a patch. I declined. So I asked this guy what he could do and that I didn’t want a patch. He stated he will stitch it up, I would only see a line of stitches and that I’d be very happy with the result. I picked up this horrible thing today. When I complained, he just stated «that’s the way we do things». I then stated that I said previously that I didn’t want a patch and he just kept repeating himself. It was like talking to a wall. Anyways, I recommend taking your shoe repairs elsewhere where they care a little more about aesthetics, workmanship and customer service. Terrible, Terrible!

I guess it’s been a long time since I had keys cut because I was quite surprised that it cost $ 7.50 for 2 keys! Unfortunately, only one of the keys actually works so I need to go back to have it re-cut:(Save your money and time and go elsewhere…

I had exactly the same experience as Jane T.
Went in on a Sunday to get a key duplicated, and the older thin guy was on duty. Took the key to the back, cut the duplicate, and I handed him the $ 3.50. Right when I was about to leave he says «any problem with the key, please come back on Tues». Found it quite odd that he would say that. Lo and behold when I put the keys into the lock, the key didn’t work.
Happened to be in the area again on the following Tues and dropped in. This time the short tubby fellow, who I took for the owner, was on duty. I explained the situation to him, and he took the key to the back, polished it again, and handed it to me. Before turning to leave, I inquired «this key should work right?». He shrugged his shoulders and threw both hands up with an expression that implied he was offended by my even asking him such a silly question. I was disappointed with this response but was willing to take with a grain of salt, especially if the problem was solved.
Unfortunately, when I got home to try it again, the key still didn’t work. Right then and there, I was frustrated and I knew this was not the place to go to cut keys. Happened upon a different shoe shine/​key cutting place in the Garden City/​Blundell shopping centre, popped in and got another duplicate key cut for the same price. Service with a smile, and the owner even cracked a couple of jokes along the way. Also, for some reason, based on how this guy conducted things, I was confident the duplicate would work — and it did, and I was happy.
Now, to take care of business, I went back Lansdowne Mall and dropped in to see the tubby guy. Told him the key still doesn’t work, and he gave me a blank stare. I then repeated myself, he looked at me again, then turned to the cash register to refund me my money. However, instead of handing me the money, he rudely tossed the change into my hand as though I was trying to rob him or something. Probably should have tossed it back at him the same way he did, but didn’t want to raise a stink. turned and left vowing never again to set foot into that shop again.

I pickup my shoes on Sat, only less than 48 hours, on next Monday morning, the sole is cracker. Then I am back to the shop and ask for fix again. But a rude man says there is no guarantee and warranted. If I need to fix it, he would charge the fees again. Terrible services and terrible work. I never come again and not recommend to others.

Don’t even bother. I called in to inquire about shoe repairs and the guy just hang up after saying hello once. Called in again and just told me to «stop playing games». Fine then, I will bring my shoes to a different place. If his phone etiquette is this terrible, what am I to expect for customer service?

My husband made two keys there last Saturday. When we tried at our locks, they were both not working. We went back on Sunday, the man worked there was extremely rude and told us he has nothing to do with keys. He only repair shoes. The man who’s in charge of keys is off on Sunday. Okay! Then I went back on Wednesday, the gentleman who is in charge of keys re-​polished two keys that he made on last Saturday and told me to try it again, I suppose to push it harder and leave it in the locker for a moment to be able to open. He was nice enough that told me to come back again if it still not working.
Unfortunately these keys were still not working when I tried at home. Went back again the next day, the rude man came out after I knock on the window, told me they can’t do anything because my locker is too old, that’s why the key is not working, and this is the last time he would polish it. This is it. I can’t come back even they still not work. They don’t guarantee it. I was speechless with his attitude. I can’t believe this is how he react to the customers who give them business. Luckily the gentleman who dealt with these keys originally came out and give me the refund with no extra questions. I actually don’t want to have this refund if they can make my keys work. And I don’t mind to try it at home again if he can fix them.
This is not the place that I will deal with again and recommend. Not to anybody! Terrible attitude terrible service!

I really like this business, the older European owner is very good at what he does. I always go here to get my shoes repaired.

Awesome, speedy service. Great quality but at a reasonable price!

Top notch shoe repair at reasonable prices. Had a moderately expensive pair of derby shoes resoled for $ 40, and they did an excellent job — and followed up with a great polish to the shoe as they now look to be in excellent condition. Reasonable turnaround time of three days, and Lansdowne is easy to get to without a vehicle thanks to the Canada Line. I can see this lasting me another 2 years at least, as it appears to be much stronger than the sole that originally came with the shoe.
