Quality of their pineapple buns have deteriorated overtime. I got three of their mini pineapple buns around noon time on Sunday and it tasted stale. The almond twists weren’t that much better. But hey, it costs less than $ 5 and no GST was charged since I got 6 pieces. Can’t really complain much.

Didn’t plan on coming to this bakery at first but when we saw it in Richmond centre we had to try it! We bought one-two of each pastry in the store, they were reasonably priced but they do charge you for a box and they are cash only! Their egg tarts are delicious, perfectly sweet and flaky! Definitely coming back in the future

Nothing like delicious freshly baked buns straight from the oven. I was here to get some breakfast for the weekend because why not. Got some of their hot dog buns and their pizza buns for the days I would be on the weekend. Fortunately, they accept cash only so, it can be tough especially for those needing to pay by debit/credit.

Yummy bread loaves, pastries, chinese buns and egg tarts! Yummy chinese goods all around. Great combos and buns. All ethnicities were shopping here when I went on the holiday Monday. Affordable treats for great prices.

Love Chinese bakeries in general, I’ve tried everything that doesn’t contain meat and it’s all so yummy. The employees are consistently fast and helpful if you have any questions.

Usually this is my last stop before heading back to the US. This Maxim’s is basically the same as most others, and it is in Richmond Centre. I love the fact that I can get a lot of pastries that taste good and is relatively cheap. You pick up a tray and a pair of tongs, and pick the pastries that you want. I normally go for the coconut buns(or chicken tail buns), rice cake(«white sugar» cake), chicken rolls, egg tarts and BBQ buns. Each pastry is around $ 1CDN, so load up before heading for the border(buy 6 and get it tax free; accepts only cash so this is a good place to offload your spare Canadian money).

Much nicer now than the old dinky small store by the Bay; it’s now across the Apple Store on the other end, beside Iris Optometry. Try their coffee sponge cake, it’s good, though Anna’s still is the best for this.

I am all about the Asian pastries, in fact I am down with this. I like this one better than the Metrotown location. It does get very busy fast and the prices are awesomely cheap.

I’d already acquired a liking for red bean paste buns when I founds this place, but I don’t think I’d seen a Chinese bakery on this scale. Rather like Golden Gate in London’s Chinatown, you take a tray and some tongs, and use them to gather the products you want. At the checkout they are put into a box and totalled up for you. But it’s a lot bigger than Golden Gate Besides conventional looking cakes, they do a range of cakes and buns stuffed with fillings sweet and savoury(and often both). It’s great for if you want something a little unusual, especially if you also crave something that’s probably not that healthy! While I was staying in Richmond I probably ate far too much of their stuff: hot dog buns, lotus bean cakes, pork and pineapple bun(which I didn’t like). Unfortunately they did seem to lack in red bean paste I tried a yellow bean paste bun as an alternative. The paste was sweet(as expected). I noticed a lump of what seemed to be carrot in it. Fine by me(and after all, carrot cake is popular in the UK). Then I bit into something else. Being sweet it took me a moment to work out what it was, and I’d already swallowed some. It was a mushroom I’m allergic to them. Oh well, I survived and have forgiven them! If I go back I’ll be careful to ask if there are mushrooms in any other of their sweet buns!
