Yesterday, I wanted to have phở because I have not ate phở in a while. So after work, my friend and I went here instead to get some of this delicious good stuff. *cue the doctor’s office music* I ordered the #1 special which included the rare steak, well-done brisket, fat brisket, tendon and tripe. The stock did not have enough flavour at all. The tongue felt it has a bit too much salt in it. The noodles were the perfect chewiness. I managed to finish my bowl, but I felt like this meal did not express itself. I felt it like Ben Stein talking to me. The customer service was excellent which was the reason why the stars went up in my review. Otherwises, there are better choices around the neighbourhood.

This is probably my favourite Viet phở restaurant! The foods very delicious especially the spring roll.

It’s a 3.5 star place. The place has very good quality meat and broth is savory although, it was little bit salty but it still has a really good balance. This place doesn’t rank higher due to cramped parking and a bit overpriced(e.g. large phở $ 8.90). Please don’t expect good service. Go for: above average phở, extremely quick service Don’t go for: good service, easy parking, budget phở

I have been going to Phở Viet for a long time, even before they moved from their old ackroyd location. This is our go to place for phở, the food is consistently good with quick service. I usually order a small phở with chicken balls and a side of springs rolls to share. Their chicken balls are really tasty and if you have never had them before, you should give them a try. Their noodles are cooked perfectly al dente and broth is flavourful without the taste of msg or the thirsty feeling after. Also their spring rolls are the best I’ve had, nice & crispy on the outside with a juicy filling. That’s enough to leave me happily stuffed. As for service, it depends on which day you are there. If you get the old guy serving you then forget about service with a smile, you should be happy that he doesn’t yell at you! We always make a joke of it to see if he yells at us or not if we ask for extra things on the side. Otherwise if you get the young guy that day, he is very polite and he smiles!

It’s not bad food, but it’s not particularly memorable food to be honest. Yes, it’s also cash only. They have a big sign on the front door that makes this fact loud and clear. I won’t fault them for that. I ordered the rare steak noodle soup and my friend ordered the rare steak with beef ball noodle soup. They have an assortment of different sauces and condiments on each of the tables, so I asked which of them was the chili oil because I happen to enjoy a spicier phở. Our server — a younger guy(maybe like late 20s or so) — offered to ask the chef to make it spicy for me. That’s just fine with me. We didn’t have to wait too long and in the meantime we were served hot tea. We also received a plate of bean sprouts, limes, and basil — the usual Vietnamese fare. Like I said before, it’s not bad food, but I wasn’t particularly blown away. Even though my phở came out looking like an angry red watercolor painting with the chili oil, I found the broth to be a bit lacking on flavor. It’s just kind-of bland and under seasoned in my personal opinion. Our server came back a few times to refill our tea and check in, so the service was pretty solid in my opinion. You can probably find better Vietnamese food elsewhere though.

Caution the Vietnamese is way too sweet. This is a cavity assault on the senses. The phở was okay even though for some reason it seemed overly salty. Now back to the tea… yeah I couldn’t finish it which was a waste of money in a cash only place(so they said even though I saw a terminal they were insistent on getting cash from me).

I was craving for phở, so I called in for a small take out phở. The guy told me that they only have one size for take out which is the large size. I was like I(a girl) can’t never finish a large phở. He then said I can make it with less noodle. What the heck dude! I have to pay the price of a large size phở for a small portion one. Where is the logic to that? Why was I being forced to have a large size phở when ordering a take out? It’s Canada, not Vietnam. It sounds like a highway robbery to me. I would NEVER order from this place again and I will tell all my friends about this.

The open time is starting from 9am, so I went there for my first meal because the other stores are close. When I standing outside of the store, the smell of the food is so delicious, but the phở there are so bad. The soup is unpalatable, and the bottle of the source is dirty like they never clean it ! I will never come back again.

Well, after reviewing Unilocal, While I was vacationing in Vancouver area… I stopped by to pay a visit to have GOOD Vietnamese PHO. Here are what we ordered. Combo #B, which it has. 1 Egg Roll, Plain White Rice and Two Skewer of meat(We picked BEEF) — Was GOOD. PHO #1– Combination PHO — GOOD. PHO #7 — Rare Stake PHO(I think that what my wife got). — GOOD. BADs are Most of the Soup Spoons were Chipped, signs of wear which needs to be replaced with new one. No Straw was offered with Cold Water. Person who served food, maybe 50 some years old male, Who took our order was not so nice. Seems to me that, he didn’t want to even bother explaining things when we asked. it was to the point that, we don’t want to communicate with him for any other things that we needed. Oh, by the way… CASHONLY!!! if you know what that means! Tax evasion???

Dropped by here on my way to Richmond furniture shopping for a quick dinner. ordered house special large bowl without raw beef. Rhe food came fast and the price is so affordable at 8 – 9 dollar. I liked the broth and chewy noodles. Now that I read about their fantastic iced coffee I wish I tried it! *cash only*

Definitely a hole in the wall, but also definitely good value to be had here. The small phở will fill you up, add a side of fried spring rolls and you’ll be stuffed. I always go for the dac biet phở(essentially phở with all the meats). Haven’t tried the vermicelli bowls yet; I always get sucked into getting the soup noodles, I just can’t resist!

This is one of the best ‘hole in the wall’ noodle places in Richmond… and there are dozens of them. There is nothing pretentious about the décor or the food, it’s just a good place to satisfy a phở craving. Soup stock has greater depth than any place in town and the portions are generous. Best part is that it’s fast. You can order, eat and be gone inside of 20 minutes.

Best phở in Lower Mainland(and I’ve tried over 10 different places)! I’ve been coming to this place for over 15 years(they moved here from their previous location a block away). The broth is really delicious and the meat(brisket especially) is always consistently good. Their portion size is also really good for the price and I eat a large and feel full(unlike Phở Hoa where I’m left feeling hungry). Their deep fried spring roll is also really good. Their lemongrass pork and lemongrass chicken on a bed of vermicelli is also very delicious. The service is not what you come here for. They give you the menu, take your order, give you your food and don’t come back. Who cares? I came for the phở! And for something like $ 7.50, I don’t really care that you don’t give me good service because I’ll still come back for your phở!

I was surprised to find a phở joint here. So there was only 1 thing to do. Parking here can get a bit crowded if you go during meal hours. So I would suggest going a bit later or earlier, depending on your mood. The interior is painted lime green(it’s all about the tacky interiors), but the place is quite spacious. The waitress was quite nice, and I appreciated how she checked on us every few minutes. The beef flank and beef ball phở I had was tasty. The noodles were a bit on the firm, and the beef slices were nice and raw. The meatballs were also free of gristle. Score 3 points. There are several phở joints in this town, but this place does hold its own.

You know those John Woo or Chow Yun-Fat asian gangster movies, where there’s usually a scene at some dumpy asian noodle restaurant where the plainclothes cops go for lunch and then a van of thugs show up and do a drive-by shooting and kill everyone there except for the smart hero cop who ducks through the back door, passes through an illegal mahjong joint, trips over a curtain into an asian massage parlour and then hides behind a dumpster. So, this is that restaurant. You definitely want to sit somewhere with a clear view of the entrance and windows and an emergency exit point. The owner/manager/server doesn’t talk. I didn’t see him say a single word the entire time I was there. He looks and he nods. He takes your order, gets your food, summarizes your bill, hands you your change. No conversation. There’s a headphone in his right ear, but I don’t know if he’s actually listening to anything or if its there in case his cell phone rings. Maybe the cops are on the way. The décor is a pasty, ugly green. The row of mirrors on the side wall remind me of the one way windows at police interrogation rooms. The food is cheap and plentiful. You don’t come here for sophisticated delicacies. The flavors here pack a punch. The large noodle bowl is probably a litre and a half of soup, noodles, and meat. The amount of sliced raw beef you get is probably twice as much as what you get at most other restaurants for the same price. I didn’t get that thirsty after the meal, so I don’t think there’s that much msg in the food. I will try the lemongrass rice dishes next time. This place serves a particular craving for phở. Not necessarily the classy, French-inspired Maenam kind, but the lowdown, hole in the wall, rough and tumble, street food version.

Craving Phở again, was looking for something fairly close to the Marriott Hotel and I found this. I ordered a large Phở Ga and the fresh garden rolls. Instead, they brought me an order of the fried rolls — AFTER the Phở was brought to my table. What Phở place does that? I ate the rolls instead of complaining, as I was hungry — they were good, just not what I ordered, and they should have been delivered to my table BEFORE the Phở! The Phở came out, steaming, very dark broth. I’m actually not sure if I was served a chicken broth or a beef broth — the flavor was so unremarkable — I could not tell. The broth did have a darker color/tint to it than most chicken-based broths — but that is not a definitive determination as to which kind of broth it was. The plate of aromatic/veggies was missing jalapeños, so I had to asked for some. They brought me a small bowl of diced jalapeños — first time I’ve seen them diced up like that. I dumped the entire quantity into my Phở, as well as adding the bean sprouts, lime, and Basil. I ate most of the bowl, mostly because I was starving, not because it was a great bowl of Phở Ga — it was a rather average bowl of Phở Ga. The broth needs work. No real rich depth and complexity of flavor to the broth. Service was very good and prompt.

I’ve been here twice now, and both times have been a good experience. The BBQ lemon grass chicken on rice was delicious and very flavourful. The phở is great as well, and they offer a good choice of meat, tripe, tendons etc. They even have quail egg, which my dad was quite happy about as this is not a common item on many phở menus. The broth was tasty, and while it doesn’t necessarily taste too MSG-y, I did feel very thirsty after eating here, so there’s gotta be some in the broth(but that’s pretty standard for phở). Prices are good: $ 6 for a small, $ 6.70 for a large.

Vietnamese ham is awesome, and so is Vietnamese coffee. We came here with some friends that suggested this place. I didn’t even know there was a phở place here. Apparently they’re the same one that was on Ackroyd, but have since moved here to this newer location. It’s not a very big space, seats about 35 people or so. The place is clean, and the strong aroma of Vietnamese food flows through the room. One thing I noticed about this place was their low prices. It seems as though every other phở place in Richmond have since increased their prices, having me pay $ for a lemongrass chicken on rice. Here? It’s $ 6.50. Because of the cold weather, I decide to have a bowl of noodles instead. A large Vietnamese ham phở noodle, with a ice Vietnamese coffee with condensed milk. Food came out quickly and I devoured my bowl of noodles. It was delicious-the soup wasn’t salty at all, and it didn’t taste like it had MSG. The iced coffee was also great-strong espresso coffee, with the smooth condensed milk, poured over ice-mmmm, so good. I think this is my new favourite phở spot in Richmond!
