History

Established in 2013.

Never stepping down from a fight, Ryan Duffy’s speakeasy became the haunt of Halifax’s business elite. Parties extended till dawn, hidden from the watchful eyes of the Nova Scotia Temperance Alliance.

A stiff drink, juicy steaks and sumptuous salad still tempt both locals and visitors to Ryan Duffy’s, now operating «Legit” and amid fine stemware, linens and exquisite service in the ‘loyalist’ city of Saint John, New Brunswick.

I had supper this evening at Ryan Duffy’s.
Their focus is on steak but I didn’t feel like it so I ordered wings. They were okay. The pickle was an interesting addition … it was a good pickle.
I felt like having dessert afterwards so ordered apple crumble with ice cream. The crumble was hot and good.
Allen was my server. He was friendly and took good care of me.

We stopped in Saint John’s in the afternoon, on our way to Maine. We walked along Market Square and reviewed the menu’s and saw Ryan Duffy’s had the best variety, for a late Thursday afternoon. We sat outside and by the time the waitress had taken our order, were the only ones sitting down. We were looking for something quick, as we still had a drive ahead of us. I had the Steakhouse burger, and it was very good.
The only negative I have with Ryan Duffy’s, is it was a long walk to the bathroom (located in the mall). I am not sure if at was because the main restaurant wasn’t open yet?

We went for lunch and had their chichn wrap, the wrap was crispy which wss a nice surprise, the sweet potato fries re amazing and the service ws excellent

This is more like a two and a half star review, but I’ll be generous. Perhaps they weren’t expecting it to be fairly busy on a Tuesday night, but the service was extremely slow.
The atmosphere is nice; it’s in the old warehouse portion of Market Square, so there’s lots of brick and beam. The view of uptown and the harbour is also impressive if you have a window seat.
In terms of the food, I had the pulled pork sandwich and it was pretty solid. I really liked the sauce they used, but it was nothing outstanding. The rest of my party had different hamburgers and everyone enjoyed what they had.
The beer list is average, but they also had a few cocktail options and what looked like a pretty good wine list.

Tres bon restaurant, sevice excellent. J’ai demandé un filet mignon ainsi qu’un demi homard… J’ai très bien apprécié. Service courtois, le temps d’attente était satisfaisant. Propre, très belle ambiance. J’ai du vin rouge au verre, bon choix.
