John Spanos Barber Shop & Hairstylists

John has been cutting my hair for about 8 yrs now. He has become a close friend who has invited me out for lunch and to his home. He truly cares about his customers and knows what is best for them. His jokes are hilarious too. He cares about his trait (just ask him to show you the House of Commons video tape) and is obviously well respected by his community and his patrons. I’ve left and forgotten to pay, paid him with car parts, and tire discounts. He is also a car guy like me and teaches me everything I need to know about the mechanics of how cars operate. I’ve only been here once so far, but that was definately a good experience.
After going to many hipster and urban barbers (having either unsatisfied results or simply just bad customer service) I decided to try out a classic local shop. I discovered Johns shop strictly from Unilocal and Google reviews giving him praise.
You can tell from his finesse and technique that he knows what he is doing. I asked him to fix my hair but he gave me much more than that. He gave me insights on politics and details on hairdressing and running a business. He also suggested a few books knowing that I’m still in school and just starting out in my career. So just from that I can tell he genuinely cares about his work and his clientele.
In short this Barber shop is a one of those shops you see in the movies. The kind without all the latest technology or cool kinds of trendy items. Just a genuine down to earth shop that’s based on quality service.

A classic old school barbershop. Brings me back to when I was a young lad and dad would take me to my hometown barbershop. The atmosphere replicates the era of which the barbershops thrived. Friendly service and up to date with styles of cuts. For safe bet call ahead to book an appointment. Had some great conversations and enjoyed my visit.

I have been a customer of John’s traditional style barbershop for over 20 years and would not go anywhere else. Corrado, who works with John, cuts my hair and trims my beard perfectly every time. While the shop is traditional, I have seen them do all kinds of styles over the years and they even have some regular female customers. I doubt you can get a better haircut in Toronto.

I’ve been going to John for over 20 years now, and make it a point to step in for a cut anytime I’m in town visiting family in Mississauga, which is quite a hike.
He is meticulous and very knowledgeable, the old style barber that you’re always looking for and can never seem to find. I’ve been through dozens of others after I moved away from Toronto but none come close.

There was always a customer coming in for their haircut. I noticed they were all Whites (we were the only Asians that time) but we didn’t feel out of place or anything. John’s customers are from an old and loyal list of clientele –he must be that good. He showed me on his phone the people calling him to get an appointment — he has clients as far as Brampton going all the way to Scarborough just to get his service.
My son was welcomed by John, he enjoyed his stay and liked his new haircut very much which is a good sign. What else could I ask for?
