So Into Cupcakes

This place used to be sooo good.
Unique icing. Used to be good size cupcakes, with lots of icing.
But now the cupcakes seem smaller and the icing is less.
I would recommend the peanut butter flavour cupcake n strawberry.

Not crazy into cupcakes myself. But I am so into ice cream cookie sandwiches! (Which is, like, what this review is about – I guess it’s not all about cupcakes anymore here circa 2015.)
Can’t speak about their cupcakes, but from others here and there it sounds like So Into Cupcakes is doing a good job filling a market vacuum for quality cupcakes locally in Scarborough. What I can say is they do also bake cookies for preorders, and some of that fresh cookieness gets diverted into making ice cream sammies that also fulfills a market void in Scarborough for a treat that is quite trendy in central Toronto. So into knocking down multiple birds with one store, eh?
Unlike popular places like Bang Bang that makes whatever you like to order, So Into Cupcakes’s ice cream sandwiches are premade and packaged straight-​out-​the-​freezer, you just choose from the available choices for $ 5 each. What makes this place stand out is the flavours/​combinations you don’t see (yet) downtown. Like «Matcha Matcha,» which is a green tea ice cream sandwiched between two matcha flavoured cookies. It’s a good bet with a strong hint of matcha. Or «Cotton Candy,» that taste like a candy store. The cookies themselves are soft (even when frozen) and pack a lot of colour and flavour. But for all the suburban fun they deliver per bite, the sammies as a whole were a tad on the small side (maybe I’m just too used to the thick thickness of downtown goodies).
I guess you’re here only because you heard of it from someone or somewhere or just happen to be here, being this far out in the city. It is a tiny and dimly lit takeout place with seating only available in your car or a bus, which is to say there is none. Takes a bit to get adjusted to the emptiness of the place, and the realization you should be here to grab and go.
{TTC: take the 95, 38 or 133 bus to a street called Dolly Varden, or 102/​95E it to Ellesmere/​Markham and walk briefly west until you see the Coffee Culture café – So Into Cupcakes is adjacent to that inside the strip plaza.}

There was a good selection of cupcakes. Decided to stop here to check it out.
I found the cupcakes to be quite dry and the flavours was not that great. The frosting was a little odd to me, with some cupcakes being overly sweet. Overall, the cupcakes were alright but not super great. It was well worth a try, but I don’t think it’s enough to make me return.

3 stars flat out.
Over the course of my life, I’ve had many cupcakes. I love them, I’d like to think that desserts are my thang. I know what’s a good cupcake, what’s a blah one. I’ve had cupcakes from here maybe 5 – 6 times
The shop is minimalist. The flavours are plentiful. The s’mores Is a nice touch. Do I love these cupcakes? No. Something about the frosting… It’s not the best. It isn’t the cheapest either.
I guess it’s a nice convenient location to pick up some cupcakes to gift a friend or loved one, but these cupcakes are not out of this world.

I cannot say anything more than AMAZING!
I am not the biggest sweets person but when a friend of mine introduced me to their cupcakes, i absolutely fell in love. hands down BEST i have ever eaten, better than anywhere else I have tried and I have tried the gourmet cupcakes in everywhere from LA, to Vegas and all over the GTA. nothing and I mean NOTHING comes close to the greatness of So Into Cupcakes.
They might even do my wedding cupcakes!

Best cupcakes ever!!! I feel that what makes a cupcake has a lot to do with the frosting. They have the most amazing frosting. Their cakes are really good too. Make sure you stop in if you love a good cupcake.

I like how it’s one of the closest desert shop by my house. Their cupcakes are really good, especially their strawberry. The only negative I have with this is that the place is too small, and the options are very limited.
There are two sizes of cupcakes as well, mini and large. I found that the price for a mini was okay, although it was just bite-​sized.

There aren’t a lot of cupcake shops in this end of Scarborough so it was great to accidentally find this place. The parking was easy. The shop is simple and young lady was very helpful to helping me choose.
The selection isn’t huge but has every type to cover all your tastes. I really enjoyed the salted caramel and peanut butter cupcakes. I will go again when I’m in the area.
The exposure to the main street isn’t the best as it’d nestled into a plaza not facing Markham or Ellesmere I hope the business stays a float hopefully it gains traction we need more places like this in scarbs.

When I found out that there was a cupcake place so near to where I live I got really excited. Tried a variety of flavors but sadly it did not meet my expectations. Yes, it was sweet and tasty and pretty moist but as I was shoving them down my mouth I realized I was shoving them down just to finish them off. Compared to the cupcakes at the Old Firehall Confectionery these are just considered passable. The marshmallow cupcakes were the most disappointing. I though the marshmallow would be a smores type of texture. Maybe if I had heated it up it would have turned out that way but it was the same texture as you would find in packaged marshmallows from the supermarket. Overall this place still gets a 3 star because if someone would give these cupcakes to me as a gift I would still be fairly happy and munch them down. I just can’t turn down sweets.

I admit that I was a bit weary after reading some of the reviews but I decided to give it a try as I was looking for some unique cupcakes for a special occasion. The store is tiny and the parking in the plaza was packed — I had to circle around twice.
Any how, I popped in the store and it has a very clean white minimalist layout. The cupcakes are displayed on a single shelf. I ordered a pack of 6 with most of them being the chocolate cake. They were the: Smores, Salted Caramel, Rocky Road, Chocolate, Mocha, Red Velvet.
Wow — we were not disappointed! All them were soft and moist with the right amount of sweetness. The Mocha flavour was probably the best! A close second would be the Smores and Rocky Road.
As a comparison, we loved the cupcakes from Wedding Cake Shoppe but it is a bit of trek for us to go all the way downtown. So, we are definitely satisfied with them.
In contrast to other reviews, the lady at the counter was nice and helped me pick the flavours as well. All in all, we will return when we have a craving.

Meh, I’ve had better, I was so excited to find a cupcake shop in Scarborough but my joy quickly turned to sadness. The cake portion of the cupcake is bland and the icing was the only part with some sort of flavor, not worth the price. If I had to recommend one flavor (I have tried 4 different flavours, Mocha, Chocolate, Red Velvet and Pink Lemonade) it would be the pink lemonade.

I’m a huge cupcake fan and always have to resort to store bought options when in Scarborough but when i found out that So Into Cupcakes is near my doc office, i couldn’t resist trying it out after my appointment.
I love their chocolate cupcake and can’t wait to try the place out again…

It’s an okay cupcake store, located in Scarborough. I have had better, unfortunately, but the cupcakes are better than your generic grocery-​store cupcakes. In (possibly an unfair) comparison to some downtown cupcake shoppes like the Wedding Cake Shoppe, you’ll get a good cupcake, but it won’t be the best you’ve ever had.
For an okay cupcake store, I’ve tried a few flavours. (Some sort of chai-​mix, oreo, red velvet, vanilla, and chocolate.) Appearance wise, the cupcakes look nice and appealing. The icing top is well-​decorated for each cupcake.
In terms of taste… For buttercream fanatics, this is not the «warm”-sort of buttercream, but the «cold”-type. In general from the cupcakes I did sample, the icing tops tend to be a tad sweeter than I would prefer it to be. Also, some icing tops were made with cream cheese instead of buttercream. In contrast, for the cake bottom, I find them a bit bland.
Particularly with the chai-​flavoured cupcake, the cake portion was somewhat stiff, dry, and under-​sugared. Nor did I taste much «chai”-flavouring.
The best ones that I did try were the chocolate-​flavoured ones, the oreos, and the red velvet cupcakes. The inner cake portion was moist (still somewhat dry on the outer-​parts for the red velvet). It will fill a sugar craving, but I cannot say they were memorable.
If you’re ordering from the storefront, all cupcakes are packaged in small, individual paper boxes. But, there are no bags for you to carry the cupcakes if you order a bunch. Bring a bag if you plan to order more than two cupcakes. I haven’t tried their catering, so I cannot comment on whether they have packaging for that.
A good place to find a cupcake in Scarborough if you have a craving for one. Worth a try if you’re in the area (ie. doctor’s appointment/​dry-​cleaning) but I would not go out of my way.
Large cupcakes are $ 2.50/each.
Mini cupcakes are $ 1.50/each.

I absolutely love cupcakes I would live on them if I could!
So it is no surprise that I am into any place that sells cupcakes. The chocolate cupcakes here where great! They always have some every time I come. Thanks ladies:)

This review is based just on the chocolate cheesecake cupcake.
I have had my share of cupcakes from different stores in Toronto (trust me, if I see a cupcake in any store, I will buy it right away)…and I have been dissapointed time and time again (either the cupcake was too bland, the icing was not the right consistency, it was not fresh, the cupcake was not moist, etc.)

I believe I found my perfect cupcake shop!
So, I was having another pregnancy craving and decided to ask my friend to come with me to get some sweets. I remembered seeing this shop a few months ago, and was relieved that I just came when they were about to close.
The lady at the counter was nice. I was dissapointed that there were no more red velvet cupcakes left, but she recommended the chocolate cheesecake cupcake. I was a bit iffy because I’m not that fond of too much chocolate, but decided to go with her suggestion anyways.
Let me tell you… I did not have high expectations because as I said before, I have been dissapointed with every cupcake in the city I tried.
Even though the store was just about to close, the cupcake tasted so fresh and moist. It was not overly sweet and ohhh, the icing. The chocolate cream cheese frosting was so lucious!!! I fell in love!
Yes, I guess some people might consider the price of the cupcakes to be on the pricey side, but hey, it is so worth it for me. I’d rather pay a little more for really good quality.
I am actually planning to go back there today or tomorrow to try other flavors. Then I can update my review.
But for now, So Into Cupcakes, you have won my heart and my tummy!

I’m down with this place. I haven’t officially been, but I’m definitely going to trek out.
I tried their cupcakes when it was someone’s birthday at work recently and a co-​worker brought them in.
I had their cookie and cream mini cupcake and it’s dead on for flavor. Productivity at work went down by about 50% today… all I’m thinking about right now are the cupcakes… mmmmmmm

I have been craving cupcakes for a while and I usually travel to Ajax for them. I live in Newmarket but my boyfriend lives in Scarborough so I’m always on the hunt for new cupcake shops that are closer tithe both of us.
It’s a small shop with choices on minis or regular sized cupcakes. I love that I have the options and to be honest I adore anything miniature. The cupcakes hace great textures and very flavorful and a decent price range.
If I had to say anything I would say the client service could’ve been a lot better. She wasn’t vey personable and brushed a sour attitude towards me. I asked her a few questions to get her talking and it was like talking to a wall.
Unfortunately the main reason I’ve been on the hunt for cupcakes is because I have a few huge events coming up and was looking to hire to cater. If I can’t have a simple conversation I can not picture a good business partnership

oh this place is going to make me fat, but proably won’t make you that way, because you proably won’t notice it’s actully open unless you go into coffee culture next door, or saw the tiny sign saying «open» from the back. Ive been waiting for this place to open for ages, but was really suprised that It has been since december, they just never took the paper off the back windows facing ellesemere, and they re «yes were open sign is soo small». that had I been the one driving I would not have noticed it. But now that you know about it, check it out!
Inside: Its its not your typical perky cupcake shop because its kinda dark and modern with cupcakes displayed in a case, beside a small counter. I think its the best looking cupcake shop ive been to, and ive been to alot. It has one table but i don’t even rem chairs.
Flavours: red velvet, vanilla, coconut, strawberry, lemon, mocha, chocolate, rocky road, salted carmal, smores, cookies n cream, and peanut butter
Icing,: I had the smores and peanut butter cupcake, and it was pretty good. The smores, was a roasted mashmellow with a peice of grahm cracker, and was done really nicely, not as good as the real thing but not bad. The peanut butter was smooth and had peices of peanuts in it. No icing aftertaste at all, I will def get this one agin.
Cake: typical chocolate cupcake, nothing to brag about and it was still really fresh even at 5 30. It was good.
Service: The lady was nice,., not much to say, I just wanted 2 cupcakes.
Price: 2 cupcakes came to 5.65, From what i rem they were typcial cupcake prices, 30 bucks for a dozen. Is that good? i never buy a dozen
So over all i will def be going back from many more cupcakes I just wish they were open later. The hours, 11 am to 7 pm Monday to Friday
11 am to 5 pm Saturday & Sunday

I am eating a Spicy Chocolate Cupcake ($ 2.50) and writing this review the same time. And yes I am making a mess! *Licking my fingers!*
So Into Cupcakes is on Ellesmere West of Markham right next to Coffee Culture. The frontage and the deco inside the store are both minimalistic with the main colour theme of dark grey, black and white.
There is NOTHING in here but Cupcakes… and more Cupcakes!
Friday afternoon and a few varieties of cupcakes left the includes Vanilla, Coconut, Lemon, Mocha, Chocolate, Rocky Road, Salted Caramel and Peanut Butter. Usually I am really indecisive but when I saw the feature of the day on the pedestal, I know I am getting that!
The frosting on the Spicy Chocolate is surprisingly smooth and creamy … more like a mousse… with just a touch of spicy. The cake itself is moist. The only complain is I wish it is bigger! :)
It is great to have a cupcake shop open up in Scarborough… and a fanciful one too! :)
