On April 3rd 2014 Southern Accent will open a new kind of restaurant. «Southern Accent Express» will offer delivery and takeout of popular items from the Markham Street menu like succulent Blackened Chicken, fiery Jambalaya, delicious cornbread, flaky catfish, thick and rich gumbo and more! Both Southern Accent and Southern Accent Express offer Gluten Free and Vegetarian options.

7 days a week, Southern Access Express will be open for breakfast, lunch and dinner. Under the watchful eye of Southern Accent founder/​partner Frances Wood and chef/​partner Thessavan Maniceavasakan, you can start your day with a coffee and corn muffin treat, grab a quick lunch or pick up dinner on your way home. This down home cooking is sure to please!

History

Established in 2014.

Southern Accent Restaurant is situated in a Victorian town house in Toronto’s Mirvish Village (near Bloor and Bathurst) with cozy corners, private rooms and a 1940’s bar. Following many successful and inspiring trips to Louisiana, Frances has found her niche. In 1984 she combined her love of folk art and antiques, music and food at Southern Accent. «We have combined the influence of the wonderful chefs of New Orleans whom we visited on our many trips to Louisiana, with our own ideas» says Frances. After many partners, who all had their creative input, we continue with currant partner Thessavan Maniceavasakan, this tradition of including many other cuisines in this melting pot of Cajun and Creole cooking. This has resulted in innovative recipes which we want to share with you, along with our version of the traditional ones.
