History

Established in 1997.

Bad Dog Design was one of the first web design businesses on BC’s Sunshine Coast, a rural community that was the first in BC to start an ISP.

Bad Dog was started in conjunction with Big​pa​cific​.com, one of the first online community portals in Canada, to offer information about the Sunshine Coast because so many people in newsgroups assumed we were in Australia!

We added information for as many local businesses as we could find and soon they were calling us to ask who we were and by the way, what was an ‘internet’?

From that time our two businesses have grown to serve hundreds of clients and hundreds of thousands of visitors, and provided web design services to businesses and organizations both on and off the Sunshine Coast.

With an educational focus on creative writing, journalism, and art history I like to think I was destined for greatness… when in fact I was destined to chronicle the everyday life of the tiny communities of the Sunshine Coast — creatively.

First through 15 years working for community newspapers in Sechelt and Gibsons until I was expecting my first child.

Big​pa​cific​.com started out with hanging out on newsgroups and academic sites in 1996, though I distinctly remember telling a journalistic coworker that ‘this Internet thing is never going to last’.

I now have one of the longest running web design businesses in British Columbia.
