You’ve gotta try their veggie fries! It’s basically just carrots and beans, but they are awesome. Way better with your burger than regular fries. My favorite burger is the truffle much room Swiss, it’s savoury and delicious. I always get the large size burger and then regret it because it’s too big, so don’t do what I do and just get yourself the regular size. The smash fries are pretty good as well, cut up like shoe string fries you get a lot of surface area for the rosemary oil that they cover them in. I also like their buffalo fries that they hit with some cayenne seasoning.

I’ve eaten at Smashburger twice so far and really enjoy the modern space that makes it feel a little more upscale than your typical burger joint, and the burgers are pretty good quality. I tried the Avocado Club burger(beef and grilled chicken versions) and enjoyed it both times. They have a good selection and lots of options. The fries are unique and taste deliciously fresh. I will say though that the burgers can be pretty messy and since their policy is to serve it open-faced, they don’t wrap it and you end up needing 4 napkins to eat your sandwich! I pretty much gave up trying to look dainty eating at Smashburger and just dive right in with a flurry of napkins on standby! Definitely a must-try in Sherwood Park!

We’ve been here several times and have never been disappointed! Food is great, always fresh and hot — lots of choices beef, grilled chicken, crispy chicken, salad, hot dogs. And the fries! The fries are fantastic! Love, love, love the smash fries and the sweet potato fries! Everything is always clean, tables wiped and the customer service is above reproach!

Smash burger was a welcomed reminder of why I love me some united states. I had a couple of burgers while visiting Edmonton this week. My bbq bacon burger was the first that tasted like an American buger.

Just yum. They literally«smash» their meat when they cook it, I think that’s cool. Their«smash fries» are perfect and they give you so many of them — which means lots of bag-fries when you get take out! I’ve only ever got take-out, but you can dine in as well. Takes a little while for your meal to be ready(it’s not«fast food») and it’s a tad pricey, but well worth it and always fresh and filling!

Not that impressed. Nothing special; Just another burger joint. I didn’t care for the thin burgers. It was tasteless and a bit dry for me. On the flip side the staff was very nice. I’m willing to try it one more time at another location.

Found the prices I paid for two burgers with fries and a shake to be a bit expensive, came to over $ 20 The sauce used on my burger, in my opinion, did not fit well with the overall taste/style of the burger. The way the onions on it were cooked did not taste as good as word of mouth had led me to believe. Overall is a good place for customer service.

Stopped in at smash burger for a sit down meal with my wife for the first time. The burger is amazing! It’s what I would call a real burger. I ordered the Buffalo and blue cheese and it was excellent! Not to much hot sauce and just the right amount of blue cheese. I ordered deep fried pickles to go with it and I don’t recommend them, way way way to salty. Other than the pickles… Awesome burger joint

Pleasantly surprised! I have to admit, I had extremely low expectations going in here. I’m a huge Fatburger fan, so it’s hard to find a burger joint that can compete. I made sure to order a burger that I would not typically order from Fatburger so I went with the Avocado Club burger. I loved the fact that it came on a multi-grain bun. The bun, as well as all the toppings were nice and fresh. The burger was full of flavor and I’m happy to say that I didn’t once make a comparison to any other burger. I actually really enjoyed it. The variety of buns, toppings, sides and sauces is impressive. I have to say the star of the show for me was the smash fries! They’re shoe string fries that are tossed in Italian olive oil, rosemary & garlic! ummmm… YESPLEASE! :D I can’t think of any other burger place that offers anything like it. But if you’re not a fan of those, they also have french fries, sweet potato fries, haystack onions, spicy buffalo fries, fried pickles, veggie frites and garden salad. I know, right??? Options galore! I can’t say this has replaced Fatburger for the #1 spot but I will say I look forward to trying out more Smashburger ;)

We just moved to Edmonton from Calgary a few months ago and still checking out the food scene here. Thank-goodness we found this Smashburger location in Sherwood Park. Like in Calgary, Smashburger menu items are yummy and reasonably priced… so much better than Soda Jerks. I always get the spicy baja burger with a few extra toppings. Their milkshakes are quite good, Saskatoon berry and the chocolate Oreos are my fave!

Every time we go to Sherwood Park, we always make a stop to Smashburger. The ownership is a set of great people. The prices are more than reasonable, the staff is all very knowledgeable, and most importantly, the food is out of this world! There are about 7 or 8 burgers and some chicken options as well as great salads. I normally get the large sized bacon cheeseburger which is colossal in size and flavour! The smashfries are very unique and very tasty! The egg bun, hand made patties and fresh ingredients just make this place so addicting! They also have milkshakes and make a great poutine. The only thing that needs to be done is for them to open a location in the southwest ;). The St Albert location is equally as fabulous!

I LOVE the burgers here — especially the buffalo blue cheese burger. I eat a lot of burgers but honestly this is one of my favourites anywhere at any price point. The buns are soft and delicious. The meat is very tender and juicy. Unlike a lot of the reviewers I’m not a huge fan of the fries — but to each their own. If I could marry a Smashburger with Red Robin steak fries I’d probably never leave. For the reviewers complaining about the Saskatoon shake — that’s probably a fair point and the reason why Saskatoons aren’t used in much — the texture doesn’t blend well. I think the chocolate oreo shake is awesome though — give it a try. I like to bring my family(4 kids) to Smashburger. The kids meals are HUGE(too big, in fact, but Dad gets the leftovers) for our little ones, but when they get bigger and older they’ll appreciate it for sure. If you’re looking for a more refined menu than what you get at Five Guys then this is your best bet. Five Guys is great for what it is — simple, calorie loaded, and simple(yeah, I said that twice). Smashburger gives you way more variety, better quality(IMO), and a better family dining experience. I think the burgers are a better value overall. Can’t go wrong!

I wanted to give this 3.5 stars, but will give it 4. There’s enough good things about Smashburger to give it that little boost. The thing I was waffling on is the burger. Their process surely makes a juicy burger, but my oh my is is salty. And why don’t they use Alberta beef? Apparently due to ‘consistency’. Not good enough in my opinion. So on to my experiences. The burgers are good. As I mentioned before, the patties are a touch too salty for me, but otherwise I’ve never had a bad burger here. That’s because each burger is made to order, which almost in itself justifies the price above the ubiquitous fast food joints. They do chicken as well and have a diverse selection of ‘smashchickens’. On the burger side, my favorites are the avocado club, the spicy jalapeño baja, and the truffle mushroom swiss. They also have a black bean burger which was tasty, but a little dry. Now, on to what I think makes this place shine. Their fries and sides are amazing. Their classic fries are decent, but you need that good base for the amazing rosemary and truffle oil fries. The sweet potato fries are wonderful and those veggie frites are to die for. All in all Smashburger fits nicely between the big fast food joints and the gourmet burger joints. Their pricing is reasonable, they offer a good selection of drinks and food, and the service is fast and friendly.

I ordered the«Spicy Jalapeño Baja» burger with a poutine. The poutine was a little light on the gravy so I asked to get a side to add to it. I was informed that a container the size of a ketchup cup would cost $ 1.05-not worth it and as gravy isn’t even on the menu as an add-on, I don’t know where that price came from. The burger was well put together, the vegetables fresh and without defects, the sauces were flavorful, and the buns were soft. I was very disappointed with the burgers though! Very bland! I don’t think there was any seasoning in/on it, BUT it was still moist and a good size. Overall, if you’re searching for a mind blowing burger, Smashburger is not the place to go.

Smashburger is quite the Jekyl & Hyde burger joint. Do the pros out weight the cons? 3 stars is an accurate reflection of what they do. So it’s an American company that has both franchise/corporate locations.(The Sherwood Park location is a franchise) The reason I bring this up is because they use American Corn Finished Beef in their burger patties. I find that hard to accept even though they explained the reason is due to the consistency of flavour across all their locations. They also fly their buns in from Chicago, IL. I didn’t hear why but I’m sure that there is a local bakery that would be able to make a similar, if not identical, product. Now they do a few things very well. Shoestring fries herbed with rosemary and truffle oil shows a level of finesse that you wouldn’t expect from a burger joint. I would buy that and their Yam Fries again and again. Also their price point for the portion sizes are quite reasonable. Finally I would strongly urge anyone reading NOT to get the saskatoon berry milkshake. It has no berry flavour and the texture of the berry peels is not appealing. A few suggestions to improve this shake would be to blend it more so that there is no berry skin plugging up the straw and adding a saskatoon berry syrup or another berry. I’d go back if I happened to find myself in Sherwood Park but I probably wouldn’t drive there just for a burger.

I’m waffling between 3&4 stars for my review — Please Unilocal — let us minions have the option of half stars :-) I came to Smash Burger the other night when the CEO/Co-Owner, Tom Ryan, was in town. I definitely give the layout, décor, and vibe of Smash Burger a big 2 thumbs up. It was clean, bright, plenty of seating & family friendly. Highlights for me included three flavored of iced tea with stevia as the sweetener! When have you ever seen Stevia at the fountain here? I appreciated their choice of locally crafted beer — Alley Kat! Optional bottled Dad’s root beer & cream soda are also a winner winner chicken dinner with this Kat :-) The beef did not disappoint and the price point is spot on at $ 6.99 for an artisan 4 ½ oz. certified angus burger and $ 7.99 for a 6 oz. The chicken was higher at about $ 8.49 and less filling — the chicken is pounded flat before searing on the grill to lock in the juices. The multigrain buns(usually my fave) were far too dense and completely overwhelmed the chicken. I much preferred the egg bun but like George, I do not understand why the bread is being shipped in from Chicago. The beef is certified 80⁄20 angus, grass fed, and corn finished for the last 30 days — said to give a more buttery flavor. But then again they sear your burger on the flat top with unsalted clarified butter anyway. They def got it right with toppings like a fried egg, haystack onions, sautéed baby portobellos, fresh jalapeños, Local whiskey BBQ sauce. Swiss cheese, cheddar cheese, truffle oil, and many more! The sides were a real show stopper for me! Shareable and priced from $ 2.49 to $ 4.99 ranging from yam fries, to veggie frites(wok inspired carrots & green beans), haystack onions(my fave), to poutine! They def got the sides right :-) For dessert time, they make old fashioned milkshakes countertop style. The Oreo was great but the Saskatoon berry was probably the worst milkshake I have ever had. I didn’t taste anything resembling fruit and the texture was very displeasing — with large chunks of Saskatoon berry flesh getting stick in the straw :-( While I appreciate the effort to include local flavors and they got it right with Alley Kat & the BBQ sauce, it was a total miss with the Saskatoon shake. Take a peek at a bunch of the pics I uploaded :-)

I tried Smashburger in Sherwood Park on its opening day on July 3. I was impressed by the selection of burger toppings on the menu and the effort that the chain made to identify with Edmonton(although I am aware of the«complaints» about a restaurant in Sherwood Park naming an Edmonton burger, I am more inclined to say«good effort»). My burger was good with good quality meat that was better than the usual chain places. For a side, I tried both the haystack onions and the smash fries. The onions were too salty and the fries were fine, nothing special. Overall the meal was good but not great. I will be back, but mostly because the location is close to home. Given the choice, I prefer the quality of the both the burgers and fries from Five Guys.
