GSA Auto Rentals

My husband and I reserved a car rental from Budget using our Debit Card. We were told we could use a Debit Card yet when we arrived from the US at the YYC airport we were told that they don’t accept Debit except for final payment. (We have a credit card account but had recently shredded it as we really didn’t want to use credit cards anymore.) Budget refused to help even though their people gave us bad information and didn’t even offer to help us find a solution. We went along asking the other car rental places if they accepted Debit. Of course they all said no. However they gave us the contact info for GSA Auto Rentals. My husband called and spoke to Terry. Within a short time he was there at the airport. He picked us up and took us down to his office. From there we were able to rent a car. Sure, we didn’t get a big selection of cars but when you’re stranded at a foreign airport it really doesn’t matter what kind of car you get, as long as it runs smoothly and gets you where you need to go. The car we received worked great and his price was better than what we would have had from the big name places. We were extremely grateful and we highly recommend Terry’s GSA Auto Rentals.

Had a horrible experience! Since I was renting with a US debit card the larger car rentals we unable to facilitate my reservation. I was referred to this company. 1^st problem, absolutely no selection on cars. 2^nd problem, the car that was rented to me broke down with engine problems less then a kilometer from the dealership. The came out to pick me up and gave me a replacement vehicle, the vehicle was trashed, parts of the vegi all were falling apart, and most disgustingly the vehicle had mold on the back seats and they were trying to hide it by telling me the seats did not work.

Traveling from the USA to YYJ Victoria, I had a car reserved at the Avis counter. Imagine my surprise when the Avis Agent said «we don’t take debit cards.» Not only that, but NONE of the other major car rental companies in Canada will take your debit card, even with a VISA logo. Since I had made the reservation with the same debit card, and don’t use credit, I was stuck at the airport without a car.
I called Terry at GSA Auto Rentals, and he saved my weekend. His facility is about 5 minutes from the main terminal, on the other side of the airport. Terry drove to the terminal, picked me up, and rented me a car for the weekend on my debit card, no problem. Fantastic service. He doesn’t even charge a $ 400 deposit on the card like USA rental companies do, just the actual rental amount; which, by the way, is about half of what Avis wanted. Dropped the car off 3 days later and Terry met me on time, drove me back to the terminal. Fantastic.
