St. Albert Farmers Market

Awesome place to get fresh produce on Saturday, go when it starts for best choices

This Farmers Market spans a good portion of the Perron District with a wide variety of different vendors ranging from homemade crafts to fresh produce. If you’re looking for a bite to eat, they also have a few food trucks throughout.
This Farmers Market has become my favourite by far with the wide variety of things to purchase or peruse. Many of the vendors I’ve come across are also very friendly with pretty fair pricing.
The only issue I have with this farmers market is parking; if you don’t come early enough, parking can be quite the gong show.
However I’ll definitely continue going to this farmers market!

It was a beautiful sunny day today, so I thought I should be out. I decided to check out this farmers market in St Albert. Well it took me 20 mins to find parking, but it’s worth it.
I have been to few farmers markets in Ontario, but this one stands out. There is some «Zing «in the air. This market has a Character, it’s full of colour and life. Despite being a big market it’s very well organized, it’s just like a carnival.
Some really good counters for Locally grown Organic fruits and vegetables. The colour of fresh organic fruits is just a treat for eyes and taste buds. One counter was selling fresh dips, Tomato Basil Hummus and Roasted Veg dip are really good.
Everyone is so friendly here, mostly all of them have free samples.
One of the highlight was the street performers, it’s well said you will find best of the talent on streets!
I will definitely be there again next week

This market is WORTH THE DRIVE! From south-​side Edmonton, or out of town, you will NOT be disappointed making the drive to this market. You might be disappointed by the parking situation (lol), but it’s worth it!
This has to be the largest market in the Edmonton area. They have over 250 vendors!!! It’s insane, and I love it. The market is laid out perfectly, and is in downtown St. Albert so you can make this an entire day outing.
Check out the website for a full list of vendors, but trust me… they have EVERYTHING and more. It’s a great market to bring kids to as well.

By far my favourite farmer’s market EVER. Even though I moved from St. Albert to Millwoods almost a decade ago, I regularly make the trip for this market. It’s so well organized, and even when it’s packed it’s still enjoyable.
I also love that there are so many return vendors year after year. It feels like coming home! :)

One of my favourite parts of the St. Albert Farmer’s Market is the live band. Every market starts out with a local band or orchestra playing our National Anthem followed by awesome musical masterpieces like Star Wars or Hockey Night in Canada.
Another plus is that it’s located by City Hall with easy access to indoor washrooms and the library for an escape from the heat.
Food trucks are a plenty and local fare is abundant.
I’ll be seeing you there…

I haven’t been here in a while but when I was it was often. It’s better than the Whyte Ave one too and I think it’s because it has more of that small town atmosphere. The out door singers are a treat too.

Just reading all the other reviews puts a smile on my face and increases my impatience for opening day — this place is so much fun. As everyone has said, it’s huge, so the possibilities seem endless when you start out and there’s literally something for everyone. Like fresh local produce? Check! Handmade jewelry, yard deco, clothing? Check! Delicious meats and fish? Check! Homemade pastries, cookies, fudge? Check! And i love the ethnic offerings I don’t find elsewhere, always getting to sample something new.
My own favourite, gotta get it, is the Bees Wax Moisturizing Skin Cream from Coal Lake Honey Farm — great for feet wanting to get sandal-​ready, and smells divine. Thank you, little bees, for your hard work!
We always have to get a few treats like the kettle corn, flavoured almonds (try bacon!), and fresh lemonade, and usually include a visit inside to the library.
For the kids, there’s face painting, balloon lady, street musicians, singers — room to run a bit and lots of energy buzzing around.
If Saturday starts out with a drizzle, don’t hesitate to go anyway –it’s less crowded and you might just discover special bargains offered. Anytime is a great time to go!

There is something so wonderful about the months in Alberta without snow and one of them is this market. It is so large that you have to dedicate a whole morning and early afternoon to really take it in. Samples and wears. There is a huge variety of everything. It definitely becomes an occasion when you make the effort to have lunch there from a vendor.
I always leave with a sweet treat and a pair of earrings at the very least.
Support the locals!

I’ll be honest, I’m not crazy about Farmers Markets but I have been to almost all of them around the Edmonton area and the St. Albert Market is the best. Compared to the others, it’s for sure the largest and also has the most variety of goods offered from your standard produce vendors to homemade crafts to more unique vendors that sell greeting cards. The number of stalls at this market is almost overwhelming but definitely doable. There’s something about Farmers Markets that, on a nice day, everyone seems to be having a great time.

I am a huge fan of the farmer’s market — all farmer’s markets anywhere and everywhere. I wouldn’t call myself a regular or a die hard by any means; simply because the prices are too high. As much as I strive to support local, fresh, organic; sometimes the price tag is just a little beyond what I can consider to be reasonable. And although I can certainly see the justification for the higher prices (given the much better quality — in most cases), I just simply cannot afford it.
Now maybe I am taking this the wrong way but here’s my story — you be the judge:
You know how Venus Fly Traps are just the coolest looking plant ever? We sure thought so when we saw them at a booth selling a variety of plants and various greenery. I thought the $ 10 price tag was a little high, but we just couldn’t resist. Well resist we should have; at least until we went grocery shopping the next day and found the same EXACT type of plant (identical packaging — and it was pretty unique so it was no coincidence) for $ 6.99 at Safeway. I felt genuinely ripped off, but maybe I am just missing the point. I thought the point of the farmers market was for local ‘entrepreneurs’ to promote & sell the fruits of THEIR labour (not Safeway’s).
The farmers market to me is more about the experience than anything. We usually treat ourselves with some type of fruit or vegetable to snack on, and often find some unique item that we just can’t pass up. I would love to purchase my produce exclusively from places like this, however, in my current financial state, I will regrettably have to choose the less expensive options.

This has to be the best Farmers market available within the Edmonton area. It is held outdoors in the heart of St.Albert. Ive never had an issue with finding parking, theres actually a parking lot just down the road by an old folks home that has a nice walk to the market. Its along a river that is full of wildlife. The market itself is rather large and has a wide variety. I never leave this market empty handed. Theres a concession (foodcourt) located in the middle of the market. Theres alot of unique crafts and fresh produce and plenty of pies mmmmm I love pie mmmmmm. I always look forward heading to the SAOFM and cant wait till the slow melts and the market opens again.

This farmers market was so hyped up that I thought it would never be able to meet my expectations… instead it blew them sky high! If that was confusing to anyone then let me be clear: St Albert Outdoor Farmer’s Market is a MUST VISIT!
The amount of stalls, options, buskers, food trucks and customers makes this weekly event feel alive and at the same time useful and fun. I was a little overwhelmed the first time so I only bought farm fresh eggs and the tastiest hothouse tomatoes. I learned quickly and made sure I brought my reusable grocery bag next time and filled it up with market goodies.
I also ended up taking the shuttle from St Albert mall so that I wouldn’t have to deal with the parking snarl.
If you forget your cash at home or run out you can use the portable bank machines provided on site!
This market closes in October so check it out while you can!

This is by far, the best outdoor farmers market I’ve been to. It’s huge! There is so much to explore, so make sure you have at least an hour or more to spend there if you’ve never been.
There’s lots of options for produce, local and organic meat, pasta, desserts and local artisans and crafts.
I would recommend the fresh pasta and pesto place– their pesto is so flavorful and they have the coolest shaped pasta. I’d also recommend the homemade pie place and Sunworks organic meats sausage.
Buying local really is worth the extra cost-​you just can’t get the same quality of food from a big supermarket.
My only regret is that we can’t have outdoor farmers markets year round with the same selection.

Aw, the SAOFM! (Even though no one calls it that.)
I grew up in St. Albert (or Stalbert, or St. A) so I’m pretty familiar with this market, which just happens to be the largest in Western Canada. My hometown’s claim to fame, I suppose.
Picture any other market in Edmonton. Doesn’t really matter which one. Terwillegar, Callingwood, Strathcona, even Downtown, which I think is a pretty substantial market. SAOFM blows them all outta the organic, locally sourced water. From one end of St. Anne street to the other, I always find myself walking the market twice through — once to visit booths on the east side of the street, and once to visit west side booths.
The best part about this market is deal hunting. There’s not just one or two booths selling ripe tomatoes, but close to a dozen. Same goes for peaches, lettuce, and meats. Plus crafts, handcarved wood, pies, meat pies, a balloon artist, and of course, the strawberry popsicle lady.
You won’t do efficient grocery shopping here, especially if you intend to run back and forth between stalls to price check, but on a gorgeous day out, it’s the perfect family-​friendly activity.

Rain or Shine, this amazing market has it all! Great for people watching too, don’t be surprised to see pet owners carrying their pets in carriers! MUST TRY: mini donuts, YUMMY and home made popsicle sticks (all natural). There is a convenient ATM machine and some vendors accept credit cards. I’ve lived here for almost 11 years (this summer) and haven’t missed a single summer.

Home again, home again, jiggety-​jig.
This would be my almost every Saturday morning during the St. Albert Outdoor Farmers Market season. The market is incredible, the diversity of the vendors and best of all it is in beautiful downtown St. Albert.
The market is on St. Anne and St. Thomas streets, the horn sounds at 10 am Saturday mornings and the vendors start distributing their goods. The crowds are always large and the vendors usually sell out early (some are sold out as early as noon), quite often by two o’clock very few vendors have any product left.
Are you looking for that unique gift, well you will probably find it here amongst the hundred of vendors on site. But never fear there are plenty of every type of vendor you could think of from produce, baked goods, ethnic foods, stained glass, and considerable number of gluten free vendors. Most important to me is the cupcake lady! :)
Come early so as not to be disappointed. There are ATM’s on site and if you can’t find parking, head over to the St. Albert Centre parking lot and they have a free park ‘n ride shuttle to and from the market.

The St. Albert Farmers’ Market is so huge, it was like being at a festival. Two large streets are filled with vendors on either side. There is an excellent variety of just about every kind of produce, food, craft, or gift item available here. Several of the vendors are also recognizable from the various farmers’ markets in Edmonton.
If you want a snack, the food carts are all arranged in one area, about halfway through. A few buskers added music to the atmosphere.
There are literally hundreds of vendors — and thousands of shoppers. My only complaint is that I could not get close enough to many of the booths to get a better look at the goods. I’m not a crowd person — what else can I say? But it is definitely a lot of fun and worth a visit if you love farmers’ markets.

Visited the Farmer’s Market today for the 2^nd week into the season — got there before 2pm but nearly all of the food stands were already «sold out!» Happy Camel, Kettle Corn… So sad! Did still get a lemonade of course and tried Molly’s International Eats for the first time. Ordered the Spicy Chicken Tortilla described as «seasoned chicken with jalapeño spiced chimi churri.» for $ 3.75. Flavor was great but the portion was REALLY REALLY small for the price — I uploaded a pic! I would rather be charged $ 3 for such a small morsel or charged another $ 1.25 upcharging to $ 5 for a bigger portion. The chicken was moist and cooked to perfection — the heat from the jalapeño was mild and salty sweet!
Today just gets an A-​OK rating because the 2 items I specifically went there for were «sold out.» The farmer’s market runs from 10am — 3pm… next week I’ll listen to my own advice and get there before noon!
Still a fan for life!

The Outdoor Farmers Market is the quintessence of a St. Albert summer Saturday well-​spent. Delectable edibles, handsome handicrafts and punny business names abound!
Plan to show up first thing in the morning (and later in the season) if you truly want first pick of all the fresh produce. Some booths get VERY busy very quickly, so plan ahead if there’s a certain something you’re after.
The Farmers Market is best met with an open mind, a curious palette, comfy shoes, and good company. It’s a great place to try new things. The vendors are all very friendly and are happy to tell you about their products. Free samples are everywhere (and somewhat dangerous — it’s difficult not to walk out with a case of whatever you try!).
Make sure to bring some cash with you — not all the vendors are equipped to handle debit/​credit transactions. There are ATMs onsite, but come prepared to avoid paying high withdrawal fees.
The Farmers Market is fun to revisit all summer as different vendors come and go throughout the season. It’s a great place to shop for unique gifts, and you’ll be sure to discover some new favourite snacks & spreads. It’s extremely family friendly, and with live music from local buskers the atmosphere can’t be beat. There’s no better way to support the local community.
