Friendly service. Barbecued scallops over rice appetizer yummy. Sea salt and garlic butter wings quite tasty. Lovely view of Port Dalhousie. Perfect lunch spot on a hot day.

Fantastic food, generous portions. My 10oz steak oscar was closer to 15oz, and cooked perfectly. Fantastic hole-in-the-wall, cozy and the nautical theming was quirky, but not overdone. Service was above average, and staff were very friendly. From reading other reviews, I believe this restaurant is under new ownership, as the menu is different from other reviews and I experienced exceptional food. I will definitely be back.

Great rooms, excellent food, great service, nice people, family run. don’t miss this hidden gem in Port Dahlousie. The people are great, very friendly and fun atmosphere, rooms are nicely appointed, though there are only 4 of them. Food was above expectations, and they are willing to do ‘special orders’. We had a great time-what a wonderful quick getaway. Worth giving these folks a try!

We were here for a day trip and needed to eat lunch. I can’t believe we chose this place, it was an overpriced and tired restaurant. What to expect –It’s a restaurant that has a nautical theme, fishing nets on the wall, pictures of random harbors. It’s understandable since it’s close to Lake Ontario. –SLOOWWSERVICE, oh my gosh it took so long to get the food and the servers do not know how to interact with customers. –Restaurant has a bar and patio as well. –Took 40 minutes for 5 dishes on a slow day! What I ate –Appetizer of escargot with cheese on top. It was the best dish of the night! The portion was a little small for what we paid for, but it was definitely flavourful. The garlic bread on the side was meh, I could’ve made a better version. –I had the Captain’s Platter, battered cod, shrimp and scallops with rice. It was ok, you can’t really mess up fried foods BUT it could’ve definetely used seasonings. Don’t be afraid to use garlic, cajun etc! — Chicken Milano was absolutely disgusting. The chicken breast was over cooked and UNDERSEASONED once again, gorgonzola sauce was nothing special. It is NOT a $ 13 dish! –Steak and cheese sandwich was bland and underwhelming. Not enough beef. Do NOT eat here, if you do be prepared for BLAND food and slow service.

It’s my fault… my phone’s battery died, and i couldn’t access the Unilocal app! We were at Port Dalhousie, and I figured, «hey, why don’t we go to the place across the street?» Our service wasn’t terrible, but it wasn’t good either. My company enjoyed the bar/red boat, but that’s about it. We ordered the fish and steak sandwich. The steak was not worth the wait! The bread was average and the steak slices were flavourless, chewy if not hard, and dry. How long do they need to cook it? It was way past well done. The fish was no better. Sure it was fried… and everything’s better fried, right? No, it was flavourless and dry also. How can a place with such a great location mess up their food so badly??? Will we ever go back to Port Dalhousie? Most likely. Will we ever go back to Murphy’s? NO! I read in the last review that Murphy’s had been sold? From previous reviews and mine, looks like nothing’s changed.

If there is one favour I can do for you let it be this, please I beg of you to avoid eating at Murphy’s. It is ironic that one of the best restaurants in the Niagara region is across the street from the worst but so it goes. Murphy’s has a tired dusty nautical theme that probably worked when my wife ate here as a teenager but today seems lost in time, kind of like a graveyard. Its dusty, dark, and dirty, and frankly kind of depressing. The food was awful and none of us finished it. 2 of us felt a bit queasy after eating and for the rest of the day locals made of fun of us for eating there and then told us their upset stomach stories. Wish we had known. I think that Murphys has survived because there are not many other options in the mid price range and they are on a very visible corner. Niagara attracts an endless supply of middle aged pasty British people who will eat anything(I can say that because I am a middle aged pasty British person, in fact when we sat down and I heard UK accents at 3 other tables I knew we had made a mistake). For a similar priced but far superior pub meal walk 30 feet up the street to the Kilt and Cover; It doesnt pretend to be anything than it is, a solid pub. Or spend a few dollars more and cross the street to Treadwell’s Farm To Table Cuisine and eat food cooked by a real chef. Treadwell’s is mostly local food expertly cooked with no BS. That is why is is considered one of the regions top 3 places to eat. The silver lining here is that Murphy’s has been sold so possibly with some love and a complete overhaul it may rise from the ashes. But dont say I did not warn you.
