A day trip to St Jacobs led us to DH Lodging for lunch! Arrived at about noon and we were the first ones there. The restaurant was not busy at all, which was nice and peaceful. Started off with a warm bread basket with whipped butter. The bread is from a local bakery down the street, and tasted super savory and fresh! The soup of the day was a curried chicken and vegetable soup, followed by a creamy caesar salad topped with assorted rye and white croutons.($ 10) The special of the day was a turkey and stuffing sandwich on top of a bun. I think it was just for Thanksgiving, but it was really good! The portion sizes were quite big. The soup and sandwich special was $ 15. Overall. the meal and service was great. The Lodge itself has a very comfortable atmosphere with aged wood detailing, as it has been in business since 1852! The only issue we encountered was that washrooms were located upstairs, which was a bit of a struggle for my 84yr old grandma… But if you’ve got spry young legs, it shouldn’t be a problem.

Just checked out after a night at DH Food & Lodging and as someone who has been in customer service all of his working life, these guys are all all-stars. From the host and service staff in the resto to the manager of the whole operation I was constantly wowed by their dedication to service. Example: after checking in(check in is available no earlier than 3pm… they will set you up with a key beforehand though. Spend your wait time in the brewery next door!) I needed an iron but it was being used by another guest. No problem, they went next door to the Home Hardware and BOUGHTONE. Didn’t even tell me, just dropped it off. Only noticed because the plug still had a plastic tab on it. Incredible. The room was comfortable, HDTV, Keurig coffee machine and quiet. The service alone would bring me back though.

Great place to grab lunch. It’s a smaller family style restaurant that has amazing brunch options on Sunday. It gets quite packed during the rush hours so making a reservation would be good. I had the pan fried salmon for lunch and it was delicious. It comes with a salad to be healthy and had a lot of different types of peppers and fruits. The salmon was succulent and not dry at all. Skin had the right amount of crispness and the sauce made it a complete afternoon treat. Servers are really friendly and helpful.

I love this restaurant. This has always been my favourite restaurant in St. Jacobs, even when it was called Benjamin’s. The food here is always great. I had the grass-fed burger and hand-cut fries for lunch. The burger was beefy and luscious. There was a great char on the burger and all the flavours of the toppings and bun played beautifully with this quality beef. The hand-cut fries are superb. These Yukon Gold beauties are like a fabulous chip truck fry. A good chip truck fry is one of my favourite kind of fries. I got a side of chipotle aioli and it was the perfect amount of spicy goodness to go with these golden lovelies. The service is always warm and reliable.
