Eating in small towns is always fraught with danger. Either try horrific Westernized chinese, bar + restaurant or fast food. In need of substance after a gym workout I figured this joint was worth a try. From the outside, the restaurant looked nice and clean. Bright with some clientel there was also a takeout/delivery section to the side. My server/counter person allowed me to sit anywhere. After a reasonable amount of time my table was wiped down(I happened to pick the only unset table) and given a menu. My order was promptly taken and my requested glass of milk came henceforth. Time 7:30. Then I waited, and waited. At close to 8 I figured I should check when I last checked my email on the iphone as it would have time stamped when I made the order. Yep 30mins ago. Stark raving hungry I overhear the only waitress apologize to another table for the tardiness of their food. I try to get the attention of the waitress to voice my displeasure of the lack of food at my table. Finally I get my food 40 minutes after ordering. No words of apology. No offer of something else to tide me over(not a place that serves bread with meals). My spagetti with meat sauce plus special cheese sauce was neither meaty or special. The ragu lacked any discernable fragments of mince, the cheese was sparse. At least the mild tomato sauce wasn’t intolerable. 3 large Italian meatballs were present and luckily had some flavour. I quickly devoured it all. More so to stave off auto digesting my own stomach than because of the chef’s culinary brilliance. I quickly settled my bill and left 10% for a tip. Only then did the server apologize. Unfortunely again too late.

Two and a half stars for Pizza Delight because the main event, the Super Donair that I ordered was a very small portion and was not very delight-ful. It had the right components, the donair meat, the cheese, the onions/lettuce/tomato and the white sauce but it just didn’t all come together like it should. The lettuce was more like a pile of salad on top of the little(6″ round) donair. Not enough cheese. Too much sauce. I was starving from a long drive and this just didn’t hit the spot. The restaurant was otherwise pleasing. The dining room and washrooms were very clean. The atmosphere casual and comfortable. The service adequate, although not quite friendly. If I return again I would order just a regular pizza.
