We usually come on halloween as part of a night of horrors starting here and moving on to potters. We have been coming here for years now and it’s normally pretty good but I must admit in the recent couple of years it’s starting to go a little downhill. First all if you haven’t been before I do recommend this if you are looking for something a little more mild. Also if you think that using your feet to get around a haunted house is for suckers then this place is for you. If you come here on a foggy night it does have a certain atmosphere that I admit is really cool when you hear the steam whistle and faint screams in the background. From there that’s when it goes a little downhill. You are put in a cramped tent of a room just to wait for the train to take you through the spooky parts of bear creek park. Now the unfortunate part, I didn’t really care for the use of blow up props along the tracks. Inflatable props just seem like they didn’t try very hard. I would have rather have seen nothing at all and have someone in the darkness to try and scare you. We’ll go again next year, more just out of tradition than anything else.

Went today for opening day for the Christmas Train. The cost was high for what you get. It was 7 $ for children 2 and over and 8.50 $ for adults plus tax. It was a tiny room to wait in. The Santa they have is very friendly. He really tried to get our kids to sit with him. Probably the only positive thing I can say. Waited 20 minutes to get on the train and another 15 minutes while they tried to fix the music. The train ride was under 15 minutes, there was no narration, no music and no tooting of the horn. The scenery was terrible! Old dirty decorations that I’m sure have been there since I was a child. Lots of inflatables and plastic decorations but nothing I would have paid to see. My daughter being 2 didn’t mind and looked like she had fun but any kid older could probably see the junk they tried to pass off. After the train you are shuffled down a slipper icy wooden ramp and out a dark exit. It’s too small and too short to charge that music. Not worth the money or the time waiting.

Looking for a place to take the kids? This little train goes through the forested areas of Bear Creek Park in Surrey. I can’t describe how adorable this little train this. Let’s just say this train is filled with a tunnel of adorable!(I won’t spoil the surprise) During Halloween I was told they make this train spooky with sets! A definite must stop in Surrey.
