Cactus Club Cafe

We came here with friends to enjoy a meal and visit. Lots of these around the city so should be good. Decent service and the food was good but… the food is over priced and very small portions. If you are hungry this is not the place.
We will choose elsewhere in the future.

My wife and I visited this location this past weekend for dinner, and overall, the experience was good. I can basically sum it up by saying there were a few little food issues, but the service was excellent, and overall, we had a good time.
We showed up just in time to beat the dinner rush on Saturday, and didn’t have to wait. Ryan, our waiter, was excellent. He was very personable and fun to chat with, and seemed to be actually interested in us and what we were doing. During our meal, he was attentive without being annoying, which for me is important. Being ignored is annoying, but having someone constantly hovering over you can be just as bad.
The bad part — the steak that my wife ordered was a little overdone and quite dry, but it still had a good flavour. However, the mashed potatoes that came with it were very creamy and tasty. I had chicken strips, and have to say, they were perfect — a nice crunch to the crust, while the chicken itself was nicely cooked and not dry.
We had the Key Lime Pie for dessert, which, normally, I’d tell you is worth coming to Cactus Club just so you can have it. This time, the filling of the key lime pie was excellent as always, with a rich, strong taste, but the crust was a bit chewy.
Compared to other visits to Cactus Clubs, this one definitely wasn’t quite up to par. However, considering that it’s almost always been a great experience, I’m willing to chalk up the minor problems this time to a one-​off issue. I’d still recommend them for a dinner out.

The Butternut Squash Ravioli is so delicious. I have had many meals their and this one is my favorite! We have the opportunity to eat dinner out quite often. So we have visited many restaurants. This is one of the best. I love the décor. Please don’t take it off the menu.

Well, what can I say! First time in Vancouver and came back to the Catus 2x! Referred to the Cactus Club by the gas station attendant who raved about the food we went the very next day. So I eat out ALOT I just don’t post all the places I go… So first let me tell you about the experience: The hostesses open both doors when you arrive and leave. very red carpet! We had the pleasure of sitting in the lounge area and Katie was our waitress. We ordered aqua frescas with vodka Very Refreshing! Note to self: Make at home! We ordered the butternut squash ravioli with shrimp (Heaven), Tuna Tataki albacore, papaya slaw, pine nuts, yuzu vinaigrette, micro cilantro — Awesome! Rob’s Flat Bread — a meal in itself — caramelized onions, grape tomatoes, feta, goat cheese, basil pesto, wild arugula, balsamic glaze! Rob, the night manager, came over introduced himself and chatted it up a bit. Can I just say these people love their job! He treated us to a brand new dessert menu — bananas, dulce de leche, carmel and chocolate drizzle with a graham cracker crust — too sweet for my taste but very good!
Went back on a Saturday night after a long day of touring. Same experience — doors opened for us, Rob greeted us and introduced us to Josh our waiter. We ordered the Takaki again — and this time we ordered Hunter Chicken shiitake, portabello, button and crimini mushroom demi-​glacé, mashed potatoes, green beans — the chicken was so moist you could cut it with a fork, the demi glacé sauce was cooked to perfection. The sirloin, shiitake, portabello, button and crimini mushroom demi-​glacé, buttered mashed potatoes, roasted asparagus was very good… but the chicken was better!
Josh treated us to the Lava Cake — rich molten dark chocolate cake, raspberry coulis, tahitian vanilla ice cream. Perfect ending to a great day!
Cactus Club gets 5 stars. WHY? The food is amazing, the music is GREAT — and the people who work there…10 stars! They know how to treat their customers, are encouraged to engage in conversation and provide a 5 star experience! I will be back!

This Cactus Club has great food — even over the downtown locations. Kudos to the chef. Always consistent and has great service. Beware of long lines on weekends and try to sit out on the patio if you can!

Like many chains, cactus club has now stopped taking reservations for a table on busy nights when they think they can make more money from a constant lineup. Do not support a business that makes you wait in line for the privilege of paying them money. Instead, support a local restaurant that is happy for your business, owned by members of our community, and will reserve you a table in advance.

My wife and I really enjoy their food. The butternut squash ravioli is amazing. Everyone seems to be copying it now.

This place had great salads and you can get half portions. Great décor, and clean. Service was also good. On the down side it’s a bit pricey. Happy hour may be a good time.

I love it here! Such an amazing patio! The service and staff is great! Always busy but I always sit in the lounge where you can always find a seat! The food and drinks are awesome! I highly recommend the butternut squash ravioli prawn trio appetizer! Luv it

For a chain «American» style restaurant, I was pretty satisfied. My friend brought me here since it was close to where we were. The servers were very pleasant and my husband didn’t fail to notice that they were good looking with nice bodies too!
The food was average, I felt, but it met my expectations. They had a huge drink selection.
The décor was great too.
It looked like the early to mid 20s crowd were dressed to the nine, whereas the 30s could care less (that would be my table!) — we didn’t feel like we didn’t belong though!

Great atmosphere, yummy food, and a bathroom that can’t be beat! Had the chicken tenders, really satisfying. Good portion and presentation.

Hot food came out on a hot plate. Even the sides, too. I visited this branch after a day at tourist place such as capilano suspension bridge and Granville island. Didn’t wanna spend $ 8-​$ 10on mediocre foodcourt type of food so I save my Canadian currency to visit cactus since my friend told me that servers dress nice here. Actually food was more amazing (didn’t try drinks since I had to drive 2 hours back to washington) shortrib sandwich with au jus was juicy and buttery yummy and aioli was superb. Compliment to their kitchen staff!

Food was good, but the service was what impressed me most. I was there with a relative who suffers from dementia. This person went into the bathroom, and after 10 minutes our waitress asked if I would like someone to check on her. My relative had gotten very confused and didn’t want to leave the bathroom, so the manager and another employee talked with her for over 20 minutes until she had settled down a bit and came out.
Just wanted to thank you guys again, will definitely be back.

Cactus Club is one of my go-​to places to eat and for drinks. I have visited the other locations and this one, by far has the best service. There’s no other Cactus Club I’ve been to where the hostesses open the door for you before as you walk in.
The food at this location is lacking, compared to the other locations. The reason why I rated them 3 stars was strictly for their exceptional service; so this is what happened:
I went with my partner and we ordered the Blackened Creole Chicken (which is amazing, everyone needs to try it, if you are okay with a little spice) and The Burger. However, as I began eating there was a hair in my food, needless to say I was disgusting. I let them know what had happened, and without an issue the waitress apologized and asked if she can bring me out another, as I waited they also offered me a salad. Furthermore, the manager came and apologized to me too. I did not expect to get the dish for free, but I did.
I know having a hair in a dish is probably an isolated issue; that’s why I will come back to this location for their service.

I stopped in here after driving all over western Canada trying to find a good place to eat. We had given up completely and decided to stop off in Surrey right before heading back into the states, and this place (I swear) magically appeared.
We parked as quickly as possible and walked up to the door, where one of the front desk girls opened up the door for us. We were so happy to see such a nice place with a relaxed atmosphere. Walked straight up to the bar, and had a seat.
Ordered: 2 Bellini’s, 1 Summer Sangria, Diet Coke and Yam Fries with Garlic aioli.
ALL of it was beyond delicious! And our total stayed under $ 30, not bad for a few drinks and an appetizer.
The atmosphere, perfect. Food, amazing. Prices, not too shabby.
Can’t wait to go back.
