Stopped by for lunch as in the area for work. The room is nicely set up with booths and rooms though the latter are pretty tight spaces for eating. The staff are very pleasant and attentive. Unfortunately the food is not up to par. The rolls had too much rice and not sure what they were thinking in tossing bread crumbs on a California roll with some bbq sauce… very bad combination. I can not recommend Ta-Ke nor will I be coming back.

Came here for lunch with a friend and not really impressed by the quality of the sushi. We ordered a sushi roll lunch combo and basically was california rolls with a different twist — tempura crunches with spicy sauce, smoke salmon on top etc. Maybe it was just today’s combo but I have had better tasting california rolls from Fujiya.

Mediocre bland overpriced sushi. Every time I go there I have high hopes because the establishment looks very nice! They have a little lake inside with some fish which creates a nice atmosphere, however that is the only thing I like about the place. For the quality of food the price is way too high! It’s probably one of the priciest sushi joints around that area and it definitely has the worst sushi. The fish never tastes quite right so the last couple of times I have gone i have tried to order cooked things. The chicken teriyaki roll is decent but I did think the chicken was quite dry which is a shame because I really like their teriyaki sauce. I also ordered some gyozas and they were the saddest little things I have ever seen. They were bland, under-seasoned, and way too dry for my liking. On top of the below average the service is also super slow, I had to ask our server multiple times to refill my glass before I actually got some water.

I find it difficult to review Vancouver-area sushi joints, because they are — as a whole — so much better than Bellingham sushi joints. So I’m rating this as an adoptive Vancouverite rather than an under-sushi’d Bellinghamster. So the food here is good. Nice and fresh, no complaints. Outstanding? No. Worth returning as soon as possible? Not really. Would I come here again if it was the only place open? Probably. But oh, the prices. Why oh why did it cost me and my 12-year-old nearly $ 40 for lunch? She got a chirashi bowl and I got a couple of rolls. Crazy! I couldn’t help but fantasize about the fact that the same lunch would have cost us about $ 18 if we’d just driven an extra few miles(er, kilometers) to Sushi Garden in Burnaby. The service was painfully slow, too. Especially considering we were the only people in there on a Thursday afternoon. They do have little doorbells at the table, which you can use to summon your server. Seemed a little odd to me, though. If you’re in Surrey and you MUST have sushi, you will probably be ok coming here. But honestly if I find myself in the neighborhood again I’ll be trying the phở place across the parking lot.

Being new to the area my husband and I decided to sample the sushi available to us and based on other Unilocal reviews we decided to come here first, and unfortunately wont be going back. The restaurant was not very busy for a Saturday night but there was only one waitress on staff and she was running around trying to handle the costumer’s and to go orders, My husband and I had a pretty standard order, he had beef teriyaki don and I had gyoza and California roll. All of my food came first, so I was eating while he was not which I never appreciate in a restaurant. My California roll was bland and dry. It tasted almost like the kind of sushi you buy prepackaged at the grocery store. The gyoza was really large which was nice, however the wrapping was incredibly thick, too thick for gyoza and it was very greasy. My husband’s beef teriyaki arrived and while he said that it tasted fine it was just beef and rice, no vegetables. The meal was expensive and the food was disappointing. I think we will try somewhere else next time.

For Korean establishment it’s pretty standard Japanese food. Been here a few times just for their spicy salmon roll which is always consistent. However they do not treat the customers as do Japanese treat their patrons. Don’t bothering offering more money to substitute for an upgrade add they do not which I find silly because it is an up sale. Makes no sense. Yes I take food costing into consideration but clearly there’s a fine line between satisfying a customer and ones outdated menu. I will be back only for these sockey rolls as it is in the area. I do recommend real Japanese sushi places over these wannabes.

Not to sound harsh, but we’ve only been here once out of necessity b/c they do have private booths, pretty well the only positive. Food’s average for what you get, and though I don’t expect authenticity, there’s got to be better sushi elsewhere lol. I’ve yet to find this in Surrey. And service, or lack of, sure can learn a few polite manners. located in the big plaza.

Formerly my go to neighborhood sushi place until that day; that day it took 23 minutes for them to take my order. That day it took them another 23 minutes to realize they forgot to put my order in that took so long to take. That day I walked out and vowed never to return

Friendly family owned restaurant and know you by name. Fan of the baby shrimp sunomono and the tuna sashimi. Have daily specials that are great deals.

Service is great. Each table has a buzzer you can ring! Pretty standard Japanese food. Quality is well above AYCE places. It gets five stars because they serve wild salmon.
