Home made sour cream? Breakfast burrito was flavorful, filling, the onions weren’t greasy or oily tasting. The chai latte was DELICIOUS. Seriously the best I’ve had yet in Canada.

Went here twice! Baked goods are awesome! We had a cheese and pesto scone which was perfect! The staff were the best! Super friendly and chatty :) made me feel like such a local! Not many charge spots, but good wifi. Awesome atmosphere, the little nock upstairs was my pad! My mocha 6⁄10 and the next day i tried a pumpkin spice scone, not as nice as my cheesy goodness but kinda my bad, was tired and groggy ordering SHOULDHAVEGOTTHE $ 6BAG!!! life regret.

Disappointing. Went here to catch up on some internet and have a coffee. First, the place is very cozy looking and smells great and the staff is very friendly. Unfortunately my blueberry muffin wasn’t very good at all and the coffee was bland. There’s free wifi but it’s pretty slow. And don’t count on finding a usable power outlet in the place so come with a full battery. Had to move on and didn’t even drink the coffee.

First restaurant I tried in Tofino. The full breakfast was tastier than the breakfast sandwich. The bread and bacon are delicious. I had a double americano as well which was just perfect! I would highly recommend this backers for breakfast but make sure to bring cash since its cash only(which is odd). There is a CIBC next door if you need to withdraw some money.

Three days in Tofino = three breakfasts here. We were staying just around the corner from this bake shop, and the chocolate croissants came highly recommended, so coming here the first morning was a no-brainier. We were greeted by a homey atmosphere, the smell of freshly baked goods, and a line out the door. And indeed, we were mighty impressed by those croissants – chocolate and almond alike. Over the next two mornings, we ventured further and further. The muffins were delightful, with the banana pecan ones being my favourite. We also picked up a bag of day-old bread for some sandwiches while on the boat later that day, and those cheese breads really came through. On the final day, brunch was required and time was in short supply, so a Chicken Pesto Panini it was. Although what I received was most definitely a sandwich with grilled bread and not a panini, it was hearty and filled me up well for the drive to Nanaimo. I’ll be back next summer, Common Loaf Bake Shop. You aren’t rid of me yet.

Came here after our whale watching tour with quite an appetite, as I had skipped breakfast as I get seasick easily. Felt like something sweet and went for one of the humongous muffins(peach & pecan) and a mocha. My boyfriend had the chicken pesto panini. The muffin was light and fluffy, with lots of peach and pecan inside. It could have been a touch sweeter for my taste, which was a surprise(so often it is way too sweet). But overall it was very nice. The mocha was great, as was the chicken panini. Service at the counter was a bit chaotic but in the end rather quick. Bought one their baguettes as well. Happy to see that they offered a multi grain version.

Super pricey, cash only. Kinda loud. Not as good as I was hoping for, but still good.

I stop there every morning when I’m walking the dog to get my coffee & if I have extra $ a pepperoni cheese bun, or a slice of their delicious Breakfast Pizza, or, a jalapeño cheese bun. If you’re craving sweet… Get the Baklava or a Tofino Bar(like a Nanaimo bar but better). Occasionally you’ll get lucky and find what you want in their day-old choices. Some sweet scores…

My favourite place in town. The bread is amazing. The almond croissants to die for. Buttery, crispy, more-ish. Too often they are all gone if you don’t get there early enough. Yes they do charge for refills but I’m sure it is to discourage all day sitters– those who drink, drink and don’t eat. I have friends who demand I bring them peasant bread when I return. Good value. Hippy, comfy, interesting. Sitting upstairs outside in the sunshine– priceless.

My wife and I had our first«non Victoria» meal here for a five day Tofino– Ucluelet Vancouver Island vacation of 10 days. Geoffrey C. and Ashley C. do not know what they are talking about. The bread is the most amazing ever here. The staff was so friendly and helpful. The prices are more than fair. We drove from Tofino to Ucluelet just to eat here a few times. Realizing where you are and the quality of food and the employees, this place is off the charts. They will do so well it is not even funny!

As it goes for most places in Tofino, the atmosphere at the Common Loaf is 5 stars. From the outside it looks like a small house you would find in the forest complete with balconies and mossy wood shingles on the roof. On the inside it has been well adorned with hand hewn beams and slab wood tables.(the beams were made by a local artist who passed in recent years, his work can be seen in numerous locations around town). As far as the food goes, I have frequented this place every visit to Tofino for over 15 years for one main reason… Peasant Bread, a ‘staple’ of my summer travels. Also, for the penny-wise campers there is often a selection of mixed bag day old items each morning. A good way to test out a variety of items. If you are visiting during the summer months keep in mind the staff is probably doubled to handle the massive boom in business and may not be as experienced as needed to keep up with the demand. I am not a connoisseur of pastries so I will not vouch for their selection but if you are looking for a tasty lunch without spending a lot of money you will do well here.

OHEMGEE! The Peasant bread was delicious! I could have eaten a whole loaf. We got it with our farmers breakfast but I couldn’t finish anything on my plate except the toast. In retrospect, I should have just gotten toast with jam. The baked goods were okay. but I wasn’t a fan of the bran muffin. It was too doughy and I swear it wasn’t fully cooked. The baklava on the other hand was to die for! The food was great though. My only regret is that we discovered it on our last day in town. I would have come where every day if I knew it was there.

I usually come into town most mornings I’m visiting the Tofino area just to to get some coffee. There’s quite a few coffee shops for such a small village but so far this place is my favorite. Occasionally I’ll get one of their baked goods too and they are pretty all right. It’s quite the hippy dippy joint but you can get meat dishes as well as the veggie and gluten free stuff too. Gets busy during summer time and there’s limited seating. The place is cash only so make sure you’ve stopped at the ATM before going in.

Mushroom soup was amazing! Pizza was thin and delicious. The real star was the peasant bread with lots of seeds and nuts! We bought a loaf to eat with cheese. It was so hearty. A lot of places in town were expensive and overrated. I loved this place for breakfast, lunch or a snack.

This place looks better than it actually is in all aspects. The staff appear friendly but are passive aggressive and not very helpful. The pastries look more appetizing than they actually taste. The coffee is outrageously expensive and small servings that require a payment for refills(major no no in my book). The food is local but lacks in flavor and the setup of the place is somewhat erratic.

Lackluster service; 90 cent coffee refills, cluttered setup; the breakfast and pastries are decent(but not great). Cash only is a real setback. If this place had more competition it wouldn’t be.

Adorable zen hippy feel inside this place! It served my coffee needs just fine — they had tasty drip coffee and all the soy milk I wanted. We sat upstairs and looked out over the street and water — I couldn’t think of a better place to start the morning. We didn’t eat anything but all the baked goods looked delicious. Service was pretty standard island — not rushed but friendly and delightful.
