AT Escape

Went to this Escape room for my birthday. We had a group of 4 people for the easiest escape room. I’ve done a few escape rooms so I am a bit biased. I usually prefer escape rooms where its more complex and you are solving a series of puzzles which trigger the next one and moving from room to room instead of being situated in being one room to escape. When we arrived, we didn’t realize the escape room company was situated in a house. Staff were friendly and did a good job going over the instructions and rules. They had lockers where we could leave our stuff which was a nice convenience. We ask for a hint to help gain some momentum when we still couldn’t figure out something during the game. After time was ticking to the last minute, we finally figure out the necessary combinations to escape the room. Overall, it’s a decent escape room place. This would be a good first escape room place for someone completely new. If you are like me and like the challenge of escape from one room to the next, I would try other ones.

Very expensive for the quality of the escape room. Unfortunately, far from being a fun room.

My first time here and first room escape experience. Definitely had an enjoyable experience and was so impressed by the amount of detail that goes into the design of the rooms. The foyer or front of the place was a bit cramped and things got a bit crazy when the staff was trying to manage groups who finished and those coming in. We were in the magic room and it felt a but cramped for 4 people. Would still recommend it!

My second escape room experience and I gotta say, this one was A WHOLE LOT better than my previous one.
We chose the easiest room which was the Magic Room. The room was quite small however, it was definitely decorated with thought and the clues were pretty cool. The clues were not obvious at all. You would have to put some brain power to it in order to solve it however, it was pretty straight forward. Unfortunately, we were close to escaping. All clues were revealed to us at the end.
You do have a life line if you just have absolutely no idea what to do. Simply push that red button and help will be on its way! You have 45 minutes to escape. Inexpensive pricing; about $ 22 with discount (i.e. checking into Facebook and «like» their page).
Now that I know what to expect, I will escape!

I’ve tried two other different «escape rooms» prior to this and although they were fun, this one was the best! My group of 6 tried the BioLab Extraction (hardest) and were constantly thrilled. The scenario extremely well put together and the support props were surprising VERY appropriate and interesting. You do not have to have «academic smarts» to do this challenge but would always be a bonus.
Location
The location was located in a small bungalow house but don’t let that fool you, there is parking in the back and definitely had a clean commercial feel once you enter. We definitely would be coming back in the future and also try out their other business in Vaughan, BUBBLE SOCCER!
Pricing
Regular 30 before tax but make sure you check out their Facebook page for a discounts. After the discount it was comparable to many other rooms.

This review is for the bunker. I have done 4 other escape rooms with other companies so this review is with those experiences as context.
First off, their website says they recommend 4 players but I would go 3 max since the room is quite small.
The good: As a set, the room is not bad. It kind does feel like in a bunker since it’s small and the ceilings are low. There is some sound design as well which adds to the feeling.
The bad: There aren’t many true «puzzles» in the room (at least of the sort I’ve seen) and the one part that was actually a «puzzle» was pretty awful in my humble opinion.
I have read that the other rooms might be better but I would avoid the bunker.

I love escape room games! I did the Bunker Room with 1 other person and it was fine with 2 people (where a lot of places are 4+). I liked that they really spent time on decorating and creating the ‘scene’.
The location is a little house right on Sheppard. Many people have noted that it’s odd, and while I do agree, I think it’s pretty neat! They’ve done a good job at decorating the upstairs ‘lobby’ area as well, so you can tell that they really did invest in this place and didn’t just throw it together to jump into the trend.
I definitely want to come back and try the other rooms here. While I didn’t wind up escaping the Bunker, it was through pure stupidity on my part — the room was actually quite solvable.

We tried the bunker room with 4 people. It was a really small room so don’t go in if you’re claustrophobic! The clues were mostly easy. Lots of little switches and electrical fixtures. They give you one clue, which we had to use.
My personal first win at an escape game (1:2 at the moment) and it was pretty enjoyable! Will be back to try the Bio Lab next time for something harder.

This was my first escape room, and I wasn’t sure what I was in for. As I rolled up to what looked like a house, and was led into a cage in the basement, I could think of nothing but how this would be the start of a terrible horror movie.
That being said — it ended up being really fun. I had to learn my lessons though. Basically — if you can destroy something, it’s in your best interest to destroy something. There’s probably secrets in that destruction.
Also their out of bounds stickers mean out of bounds, so don’t bother thinking about them.
I have only a few complaints — because so many other people have done these puzzles, there are remnants and secrets left by them, either written on the wall, or shown by repeat use of something.
Also — with 1.5 minutes left the employee came into our room, which broke our train of thought, which is less than ideal at that moment.
Finally — with that minute left our «escape door» that we had to put the code into stopped working so we couldn’t try a number of permutations.
That being said — up to that final minute, it was great!

This is the third «escape» challenge I’ve tried… We got groupons for this so keep an eye out for them if you’re interested ($ 15/​pp). Most of the parking is at the back of the house.
I really like this place! It’s in a house which is kind of odd for a business but hey, it works. The staff was friendly and helpful. The set up is great and there’s enough rooms (5) to have a variety of escape challenges to choose from. If you get stuck, you also get one «clue» and the staff will come help you.
Five of us did the library escape and there was plenty of room for everyone to fit without feeling claustrophobic or like we truly needed to escape. It was a blast from the start and we were able to find clues right away. There were so many clues/​locks in this room. The 45 minutes flew by. Would try this place again for sure! Keen to try the prison break.

Do you enjoy walking into a strange unassuming house, getting led down to a dark basement and locked behind bars? You do? Me too!!! I think this was the most freaked out I have been at a room escape game, and Ive played a lot!
Great room designs, great people, great atmosphere and a lot of fun.
I have gone in with coupon vouchers, though with facebook check-​ins, its pretty reasonable! Give them a try. Can you escape???
If I could make one suggestion is to have a sign visibile from the street to avoid drive-​bys for first timers trying to find the house!

At Escape has some big positives and some huge negatives. The staff were nice, the place was clean and pretty easy to find with free parking. The $ 18 per person is pretty pricy as far as these rooms go, but they did give us an additional $ 5 off for our next time. I don’t love having to check in and like them on facebook, but not really a big deal. The real problem came when we got to the room. At first glance the bunker is tiny, almost too small for the three of us in the room. The look of the room is pretty great, with nice props and a realistic atmosphere. As we started deciphering clues we were frustrated (not because they were difficult, but because they didn’t make logical sense). Three of the five clues in the room were deeply flawed including one where it was literally impossible to figure out because of an error on the owners part.
I may go back because I’ve heard good things from others and there were some positives about the room, but ultimately I can’t imagine it matching up to a few of its competitors.
*Update: I went back to the toy room and it was better than the bunker. Definitely easier with a few interesting puzzles and a nice little surprise in there as well. If the bunker was a ¹⁄₅ then this room is a 2.5÷5.

Always a fun time attempting to escape from a room with a group of friends!
At Escape is pretty hidden among the row of identical looking houses on Sheppard, it’s easy to miss it at night. It’s around a 10 minute walk from Sheppard Subway Station, however, if you drive, they have around 10 parking spots for customers!
We made a reservation to try out the Library Lockdown with 6 people. On the whiteboard, the success rate is apparently only 12% and unfortunately we made that percentage even lower!
Without disclosing too much about the mystery room, I do agree with other reviews that the clues are pretty scattered and you really do need to look closely at everything. We were allowed only one hint and given 45 minutes.
One lock that we were trying to open seemed to be broken since it was the correct code and we had to try it so many times to get it open. We probably wasted a good ten minutes on that…
The staff was very friendly and took a picture for us afterwards although we failed. I loved that there were so many signage options to choose from!
Aside from lock malfunctions… This is definitely a fun group activity. Remember to check in and «Like» them on Facebook to get a discount!

Not bad for a local room escape facility in the north Toronto end.
It is located around the Yonge and Sheppard area walking distance from Sheppard station. It’ a bit hard to find as it blends in with the many other small houses along the south side of sheppard but once you see it you’ll realize how ridiculously blind you are from the giant ‘At Escape’ sign on the front. The parking is located at the back and only about 8 spots so on a busy night it may be a bit difficult to maneuver.
The rooms are small level rooms. Simple one room with one door and about 4 – 6 challenges. I did the bunker challenge and got out within the last minute remaining.
The cost is about $ 20 and from time to time you will find groupons for 2-​for-​1 special. I say doing with 2 people is fine but better with 4.
Tip: dump everything out of the boxes and cases. They can be hard to find, especially in the dark.
If you want a quick, cheap and fun experience then go here otherwise if you want a big challenge then there are other locations.

Riddled, not with clues, but with malfunctions.
When you can’t solve the puzzles because the things don’t work, it renders the game frustrating instead of fun. At the end of the time limit, the guy came in to show us what we couldn’t solve. TWO locks were broken that even he couldn’t get open without forcing them. One of the items was ripped & illegible. However the BIG piss off was that he told us we «over heated the mechanics & broke the (item)». What?! He tried a dozen times to get it open, but it wouldn’t. We came with two other groups who were in other rooms & both of them said their rooms also had malfunctions with locks, item, et al.
Other things were small problems that ticked us off. When we first got in the room, Lucy specifically said «any items that have a sticker that say out of bounds have nothing to do with game», pointed directly to an item & said «like that». Yet at the end of the game, the guy told us there was a clue on that item… Also, as previously said, there was no flow with the clues whatsoever; just kind of guess whatever and see if it works.
Had some fun due to the company I was with and liked the problem solving, yet we won’t be coming back to this location nor would recommend it.

This was my first time at one of these escape room places. Overall I had a fun time, although it was mostly because of the people I was with and the fact we escaped. I wasn’t overall impressed with AT Escape, even though I’m typically easy-​to-​please person.
Pros:
–The staff were friendly
–Online booking made it easy
–The room (toy room) was clever and neatly assembled
–There was parking on site
Cons:
–The clues were a bit disjointed– there was no theme or connection between clues
–You had to like them on Facebook to receive a readily available discount. Since I don’t have Facebook, I was immediately excluded, which kind of ticked me off
I’ll probably return to an escape room place again because it was pretty fun, but I’m not keen on returning here. These places are popping up everywhere.

A good 3.5 stars
Did prison room with 2 ppl and bunker with 4 ppl. Both rooms very small as advertised so found 2 ppl is good otherwise you’re bumping into each other and in the way of clues. Also both rooms (and only those 2 of all rooms) were dimly lit (1 was atmosphere and other had reason + atmosphere).
It’s a converted old house, so keep that in mind as well.
Found all clues ok, some associations a bit random, one clue wasn’t marked well as the team before us rubbed it off so that ate up way too much time figuring what it was supposed to spell/​# out. This is where I feel they lost stars.
Otherwise a very clean, friendly well run place, decent parking in back and obvious store front signage so easy to find. They have a clean washroom, sell drinks for $ 1, have keyed lockers for your stuff which is nice.
*Dislike how some people mistreat the rooms and stuck gum in places, very disrespectful to other players and to the company :(
Will recommend to friends and go again.

AT Escape deserves a higher rating but things can go wrong in a split of a second.
The escape rooms were very realistic and well thought out. My friends and I enjoyed it a lot :) Both times I went, the female facilitators were very friendly and helpful and ensured that you have a great time. Definitely deserves a 4-​star.
But the last experience I had at AT Escape really took a huge toll on the star rating. As this place is getting popular, more business pours in. Time management and rooms turnover are crucial. But don’t forget to factor in customer satisfaction and overall experience.
I did not like the fact that one of the male facilitators raised his voice to one of his staff during busy times. I did not like seeing that annoyed temper, especially when it is such a small house and everyone can hear you.
I did not like the fact that one of the staff said OUT LOUD TWICE that one of the puzzle malfunctioned and it was the room we paid to play in. We had no reassurance from staff if ALL clues and puzzles are actually functioning properly.
I did not like the fact that our room was delayed because another group was still completing OVER the overtime. Staff had to ask us 3 – 4 times which room we are waiting for. Yes, we are waiting for the Bio Lab with the malfunction!
Last but not least.
I did not like the fact that the ‘annoyed’ male facilitator came into the room at the end of the game and said with a straight face, ‘You guys are not even close.’ and just left. Wow, gee thanks. I feel so much better.
Hence, a 2-​star. But I’ve decided to middle the two and give an overall rating of 3 stars. The rooms are fun, don’t get me wrong… it’s just the overall ‘feel good’ experience I’m concerned about during the second visit.

Meh. The puzzles weren’t very clever (we did the most difficult room), it was like a series of disconnected mini puzzles that often times are illogical. Immersion wasn’t possible because of how disconnected the puzzles were. It just felt like doing high school homework.
There are soo many escape-​rooms popping up all over the GTA, and a lot of them also do the Groupon deals. At Escapes really falls behind amongst all the competition.

I came with a few friends to try this new escape games place out 2 weeks ago. It was a long weekend, so I made sure to make a reservation the day before. I easily made a reservation through the phone and the girl on the other end was super helpful. She made recommendations on which theme room to go to as I was looking for something fun, yet challenging. I chose to book one of the more challenging rooms and it was definitely a good one– library room. The other she had recommended was the bunker room which is also one that is more difficult.
We did not end up escaping but all in all it was fun!
At this particular escape game place, it was easy to reserve a time slot as it is still new and as well this place did not require a deposit for the reservation.
