Bark & Meow Pet Supplies

After moving to Bloordale I searched through all of the pet stores to find the ones that sell the brands of dog food that I let my dog eat (he has Cushing’s) such as Acana and Orijen. Bark & Meow is the only one that sells those, and they also stock other brands that I’ve researched and thought about trying. I’m so glad I found this place!
The owner is always really friendly. When you walk into the store it looks the same as every other tiny pet shop that is owned by some family for years who don’t really know or care what they’re doing — so she has really surprised me with her knowledge of the products she carries and of animas in general! She definitely knows her stuff and if you have questions about dogs and feeding she has great advice that can be trusted.
Bark & Meow has a frequent food punch card program where you buy like 9 packages of food you get the next one for free (might not be the exact number, I can’t remember). They keep the cards there for everyone in a Rolodex thing so you don’t have to carry it around in your wallet and also you never forget to bring it! Awesome!
I have not used their grooming services and I probably never will based on the groomer reviews, though. For the record, I’ve never seen or heard the groomer here yet.

The woman who runs the store has always been very friendly to me, so I feel a bit guilty writing this review, but for the sake of my fellow pet owners I feel it’s important to share.
About a year and a half ago I entered the store and the store owner wasn’t out front, but I could hear a woman screaming obscenities from the back room. This dog runs out of the back grooming room Unilocaling and trailing blood everywhere! Like a TON of blood. The groomer runs out and is just yelling at it and chasing it and starts sort of shoving, hitting the dog when she can’t catch it. This whole time I am just standing there frozen, totally in shock and this groomer is yelling so much she doesn’t even notice me. Eventually she grabs the dog and literally drags it to the back room, never even looking up once and noticing me there. I felt so, so terrible I didn’t stop her at the time (that poor dog!), so I figured the least I could do was warn future customers.
This was a while ago, so it may not even be the same groomer– but please do your research and screen your groomer carefully!
The store itself is fine, I guess. There’s limited stock and it tends to be overpriced, but I appreciate that they carry items for small animals (pet rats!) because many shops don’t.
Edited to add that the groomer I heard/​saw had an English accent, just in case they’ve gotten a new groomer in the mean time.

Came here years ago to get my little canine’s claws trimmed. I kept coming back to this short haired dirty-​blonde pet groomer, who was confident and experienced (sometimes those two adjectives are synonymous).
She also knows of many interesting pet grooming stories.
I don’t know if your dog enjoys getting his nails trimmed. Mine tolerates it, but there was one time he gave some attitude to the groomer — he was going to resist getting his nails cut. She looked him straight in the eye and told him a thing or two. He settled after that.
In any case, she would always have a standard groomer’s Plan B: strapping the little guy in. ex:
I’m going to try going back sometime — if that groomer’s still there, we’ll be in luck.
