At Bark Busters we believe in a better way to a better dog. Our training is based on two elements: communicating with a dog in a language that the dog understands and providing trustworthy leadership.

Used exclusively by Bark Busters, this technique uses praise as the positive reinforcement and primary motivator. The focus is on clear communication that is dog-​friendly and easy to implement. Nothing motivates a dog like its desire to please. By tapping into that innate desire, we are able to see results in as little as three hours.

Bark Busters Trainers are among the top dog behaviour professionals in Canada. All Bark Busters trainers undergo a rigorous and intensive program involving classroom study, observation, advanced dog handling, practical advanced behaviour problem solving, and written, oral, and practical testing. We bring all of that expertise into your home. Once you’ve worked with our trainers, you’ll never need another «level» of training again.

History

Established in 1989.

In the 1980’s Sylvia Wilson was the manager of the RSPCA shelter in Wollongong, Australia. Danny Wilson was a volunteer there. Both were very frustrated by the amount of dogs being surrendered because of behaviour problems.

Unable to accept the status quo, Sylvia began working with these dogs. She applied all she had learned about dog behaviour and training and used her incredible ability to read temperaments and understand dogs. This resulted in the dogs being rehabilitated and returned to their families. Sylvia’s reputation for miraculous results grew and an ever increasing number of dog owners sought out her help.

Thus, in 1989 Bark Busters was born. It grew through Australia and New Zealand in the 1990’s and in the early 2000’s spread to the UK, USA, Canada, Japan, Israel, Taiwan, France and Belgium. Today it is the largest dog training company in the world. So far, Bark Busters has touched the lives of over 500,000 dogs.
